THE PLAYS:

Upside:

Play Date: 06/15/2009
GR (Goodrich--$50.94; -2.42; optionable): Tires, aerospace
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gr.html
After Hours: $50.94
EARNINGS: 04/23/2009
STATUS: Flag. So it is not Goodyear, but it is set up to bounce higher off this 18 day EMA (50.58) test, a nice flag pattern after the late May to early June surge. The move took it up to resistance from 50 to 54, and it pulled back; normal. Now we look for a bounce higher, holding the move into the close. If it can do that we start some positions and then see how it plays the next session.
Volume: 1.389M Avg Volume: 1.714M
BUY POINT: $51.22 Volume=2.2M Target=$5756.97 Stop=$49.88
POSITION: GR HJ - Aug. $50c (58 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 06/15/2009
NTY (NBTY, Inc.--$28.30; +0.93; optionable): Drug products
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nty.html
After Hours: $28.30
EARNINGS: 04/23/2009
STATUS: Test breakout. Gapped higher a week back, clearing a 5 week cup base formed after NTY gapped out of a 6 month base. That first gap was an island reversal. This second one is starting the next move. NTY gapped, faded slightly but held the gap, holding at the 10 day EMA (27.12) as well. Broke nicely higher Monday on rising, average trade. Looks good to continue the move and it is a buy as it does.
Volume: 700.77K Avg Volume: 659.336K

New buy points on current positions:

Play Date: 06/15/2009
ICE (Intercontinental Exchange--$113.08; -3.02; optionable)
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/ice.html
After Hours: $113.08
EARNINGS: 08/04/2009
STATUS: Flag. Testing the 18 day EMA (111) on the Monday low, then rebounding to cut the losses. Low volume. Plenty of room to run up toward next resistance and give us a great gain.
Volume: 1.165M Avg Volume: 2.443M
BUY POINT: $114.21 Volume=2.5M Target=$129.95 Stop=$110.57
POSITION: IHH IB - Sept. $110c (59 delta)

Play Date: 06/15/2009
JOYG (Joy Global--$38.05; -2.33; optionable): Farm and construction machinery
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/j/joyg.html
After Hours: $38.13
EARNINGS: 06/03/2009
STATUS: Flag. Surged from late May to last week and is now testing. Gapped lower Monday on rising, above average volume but still holding easily above the 18 day EMA (36.74). May come back to test further and finish the pullback at the 18 day. Then looking for a turn back up. Want to see it closing positive to start some positions.
Volume: 5.227M Avg Volume: 4.202M
BUY POINT: $37.11 Volume=6M Target=$42.95 Stop=$35.08
POSITION: JQY JB - Oct. $36c (63 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 06/15/2009
UCO (ProShares Ultra DJ Crude Oil--$13.60; -0.59; optionable)
After Hours: $13.55
STATUS: Test 10 day EMA. Nice run for us last week and now coming back to test, tapping the 10 day EMA (13.28) on the Monday low and then bouncing some to cut the losses. Still low volume but that has not slowed the moves. Looking for UCO to hold this 10 day EMA test and bounce. We move in on the rebound.
Volume: 3.993M Avg Volume: 6.468M
BUY POINT: $13.78 Volume=7M Target=$16.55 Stop=$12.84
POSITION: UCO JV - Oct. $12.50c (66 delta) &/or Stock

Downside:

Play Date: 06/15/2009
GS (Goldman Sachs--$143.01; -2.63; optionable): Now a bank
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gs.html
After Hours: $143.11
EARNINGS: 04/13/2009
STATUS: Long uptrend from GS from March, using the 18 day EMA (143.35) all the way up. Anticipating a crack lower, and if it breaks GS is in position to make a run down to the 50 day EMA at 132. A move to our target lands a 54%ish gain.
Volume: 8.745M Avg Volume: 21.837M
BUY POINT: $142.76 Volume=24M Target=$133.65 Stop=$145.66
POSITION: GS SI - July $145p (-51 delta)
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ci/gs.html

Play Date: 06/15/2009
SPY (S&P Depository Receipts--$92.90; -2.18; optionable)
After Hours: $92.80
STATUS: Put. Of course SPY broke down from the lateral consolidation and sold to the early May peak on the low (92.42). It rebounded some and we are looking for SPY to bounce a bit early Tuesday and a stall near the 18 day EMA (93.05). A stall there and turn lower is a buy. A move to the target lands a 40%ish gain.
Volume: 224.098M Avg Volume: 292.876M
BUY POINT: $92.99 Volume=300M Target=$89.91 Stop=$93.92
POSITION: SWG SP - July $94p (-52 delta)
