STATUS: Ascending triangle. Nice 8 week Ascending triangle starting in July after FLIR reversed the May to early July downtrend. Strong surge last Friday back up to the peaks in the triangle, fading back this week. May come back and test a bit further; the 10 day EMA (22.57) is rising to meet it after all. Looking for the test to hold and FLIR to resume the move and then we move in.

EARNINGS: 08/20/2009
STATUS: Rolling. Nice 12 week trading range that started in May. This is its second test of the bottom of the range, holding support the past three sessions at the March peaks, June lows, and the 200 day SMA (9.87). This range is consolidating the run off the knifepoint turn off the November low, but who really cares, right? We want to play the next rotation higher, and it looks as if JRJC is going to make the move from here as it has tested 10 and the 200 day the past three sessions and bounced back intraday. As soon as JRJC heads back up and shows it can hold the move into the last hour we move in.

EARNINGS: 11/21/2009
STATUS: Pennant. A strong run from early March to early June (4 to 14.50) needed a rest, and this 11 week base has given it the time to rest and set up for the next move higher. Nice series of higher lows along the 50 day EMA (12.59) is pinching off with the lower highs here in August. Building up nicely with this bounce the past week off the 50 day, now testing modestly and holding the 10 and 18 day EMA on the Tuesday low (13.13). Looking to move in after this test ends and SLT starts back up.

EARNINGS: 10/14/2009
STATUS: Breakout test. XLNX broke higher last week with a nice surge off the 50 day EMA (21.10) that took it out of a 16 week triangle. Nice breakout over key resistance from back in September 2008 as well as the current base. May test another day or two, but when XLNX continues the break higher we are ready to move in on this breakout.

IWM (Ishares Russell 2000--$58.38; +0.25; optionable)
After Hours: $58.27
STATUS: With that evening star doji Tuesday IWM could come right on back and test the move higher after the Monday gap lower just over a week back. This is more of a hedge move if the market reverses and heads lower. Not a bad move; a move down to the target at 55 lands a 69%ish gain. We are looking at a turn back from where it closed, and particularly looking for a GAP down from the Tuesday close that cannot recover the Tuesday closing price as our cue to enter.
