Each play contains a link to a VIDEO that discusses the play in terms of the CHART PATTERN it is currently showing. Patterns, buy points, and targets are discussed along with other points that make the play a good one as well as what areas to watch for. *********** *************

New Post-Split Plays:
Play Date: 02/27/2010
PBR (Petroleo Brasileiro--$42.65; +0.79; optionable): Brazilian oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pbr.html
After Hours: $42.85
EARNINGS: 02/26/2010
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Flipping this play from downside to upside as PBR is fighting off further selling and has set up a new pattern. Friday it gapped higher, showing the buyers are back in. Now we see if they can push the stock higher and continue the upside break from this pattern. This is where you want to look for this type of pattern, i.e. AFTER a selloff not at the top of a run: positioning is important for patterns just as it is for a basketball player trying to snag a rebound. If he or she is posted up at midcourt, not too many rebounds will come. Looking for a continued break higher to move into this play

SSYS (Stratasys--$26.37; -0.14; optionable): PC peripherals
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/ssys.html
After Hours: $26.38
EARNINGS: 4/28/2010
STATUS: Flag. Huge breakout in mid-January from a 12 week cup with handle base. SSYS posted a breakaway gap on the move, surging higher. It tested into early February, then rallied again, moving to a new breakout high in mid-February. This past week SSYS is testing the move, fading back to near support at the 18 day EMA (25.91) Thursday and Friday. Nice flag pattern as SSYS tests the 18 day EMA on the intraday lows to end last week, showing the buyers are there and were moving in on the dips. We are ready to move in if they can drive the stock up off of this test. Very nice looking pullback.

Leader Plays:
Play Date: 02/27/2010
BID (Sothebys--$24.30; +0.73; optionable): Auction house
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bid.html
After Hours: $24.31
EARNINGS: 02/22/2010
STATUS: Sotheby's looks ready to bid up its own price. After hitting a new rally high in January the stock lost its bid and faded back to the 50 day EMA (now near 23). Rallied, made a lower high, but then held the 50 day EMA cleanly last week. Friday it gapped modestly and rallied on solid volume, the best in three weeks, breaking over that recent high intraday. Gave up the move, but still in solid position to make a new breakout. Indeed on Friday BID rallied through the short term down trendline from January. If it can continue this move we are ready to move into the play.

CAAS (China Automotive Systems--$20.19; +0.12; no options): Auto parts
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/caas.html
After Hours: $20.15
EARNINGS: 03/22/2010
STATUS: Solid run from summer 2009 into early January, but note how the pattern turned very volatile in December, something that often happens as a run peaks and readies for a correction and new base. CAAS sure enough topped and corrected, falling from 27 to 14 on the early February low. It formed a reverse head and shoulders at that point and broke out last Monday. Rallied then tested on the Thursday selling, reversing to close positive. Working on the right side of its base and has plenty of upside room here to make us money as CAAS continues to rally and form the right side of its base. As CAAS continues higher through the buy point and can hold it into the close we are ready to move in.

CY (Cypress Semiconductor--$11.83; -0.10; optionable): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cy.html
After Hours: $11.84
EARNINGS: 04/22/2010
STATUS: Flag. CY formed a base on base pattern from August through early February. Formed a larger 5 month pattern through early January and broke out from that pattern. It could not hold, however, given the market selling. It based out again with a short 4 week base. It broke higher again a couple of weeks back. Strong move and now CY is testing, coming back to the 18 day EMA and the January peak (the top of the smaller base). Thursday and Friday it tapped the 18 day EMA on the lows and rebounded. Getting ready to make the move higher, and as CY breaks upward off this test is when we move in.

SAPE (Sapient--$9.02; +0.32; no options): Business software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/sape.html
After Hours: $9.02
EARNINGS: 11/05/2009
STATUS: Flag. Great run from May to October, then a 15 week ascending base consolidated that move. The breakout occurred the third week of February, then SAPE spent last week testing, filling the modest gap on the breakout Thursday with that big intraday reach lower by the market, rebounding solidly to hold the breakout. Friday SAPE was up again on excellent volume. Looking to move in as SAPE continues its renewed break higher.

VLTR (Volterra Semiconductor--$21.83; -0.19; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuits
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/v/vltr.html
After Hours: $21.84
EARNINGS: 04/23/2010
STATUS: Pennant. VLTR is pushing the all-time high it hit when it came public in late 2004. In late January this year it broke to a multi-year high, clearing a long base that started in 2008. VLTR rallied to a new rally high mid-February, and of course, the past two weeks it is testing that move, forming a small pennant. Last week the pennant touched the January peak and rebounded. May take a few more sessions to finish its test but when VLTR makes the break higher through the buy point and hold it into the close we are ready to move in.
