Upside:

Play Date: 05/27/2010
BID (Sothebys--$32.69; +2.78; optionable): Auctions
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bid.html
After Hours: $33.20
EARNINGS: 08/02/2010
STATUS: ABCD up. Familiar pattern in the market after the February to April surge followed by the May selling. A stair-step back down and now a new rally higher on solid, above average volume. Thursday BID was bid up through the 50 day EMA on the close on that stronger volume. Looking to start some positions as BID continues this move and then we see how it tests and whether it holds and we get a new entry. Looking for a rally to the top of the pattern as our initial target. BID has made us good money before and with its momentum we are ready to move in.

Play Date: 05/27/2010
EAT (Brinker Intl.--$17.97; +0.60; optionable): Fast food chains
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/eat.html
After Hours: $17.97
EARNINGS: 08/12/2010
STATUS: Double bottom. After a solid rally through late April EAT along with most other stocks needed a rest. EAT used the market selling to make a deeper pullback, undercutting the 50 day EMA and falling down to hold just over the 200 day SMA. After a run up the 18 day EMA near term moving average a stock needs to rest and test. After that it can reset and continue back upside. This pullback toward the 200 day is giving EAT what it needs. It came back on the May 6 flash crash and rebounded. EAT then faded again, coming back last week and early this week to the same point, finding support, and on Thursday was bouncing. Nice little double bottom here and as EAT continues higher we are ready to start positions for the run up to our initial target at the prior peak. May test after hitting up to the 50 day EMA range, and if so we may get a good opportunity to add some more positions at that point.

PNRA (Panera Bread--$80.67; +3.02; optionable): Eateries
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pnra.html
After Hours: $80.36
EARNINGS: 07/26/2010
STATUS: Double bottom. Similar to EAT. PNRA trended nicely up the 18 and 20 day MA from November through April. After that kind of move a rest is needed and this selling has allowed PNRA to test and set the foundation for a new run. It has formed a double bottom the past month and on Thursday gapped over the 50 day EMA, breaking out from the short pattern. Looking to participate in a run back up to the prior highs as our initial target.

BUY POINT: $80.78 Volume=755K Target=$88.54 Stop=$77.54

Play Date: 05/27/2010
TRMB (Trimble Navigation--$29.33; +1.23; optionable): Technical instruments
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/trmb.html
After Hours: $29.33
EARNINGS: 07/30/2010
STATUS: ABCD up. Strong, steady rally from February to early May, then the 'flash crash' took TRMB lower to the 50 day EMA. It held that level, roughly, and then rebounded only to fall back the past two weeks. Tuesday TRMB undercut the May 6 low and reversed. Now it is on the move back upside. Not a lot of volume, but we are playing the pattern and looking for a move back up to the prior high as our initial target. Nice pattern that looks to be in gear, and thus we are ready to move in as TRMB continues the move higher.
