Begin Part 2 of 3
THE PLAYS:
Good moves: ARTI; GRMN; QCOM
Best Plays:
1) YELL: Nice cup.
2) SJM: Great breakout test.
3) DMRC: Even a tighter test of the 10 day with a big volume surge.
4) FRGO: Making a strong move.
5) RMHT: Ditto
6) SRNA: Starting up on volume as the rest of the market struggled some.
7) TMCS: Very tight pattern at the 10 day MVA.
8) ZBRA: Moving up on stronger volume.
New Plays:
Play Date: 12/02/2002
SJM (JM Smucker--$39.39; +0.26; optionable): It's got to be good jam.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/sjm.html
STATUS: Testing the breakout. SJM rocketed up in mid-November on great earnings and has since moved laterally at 39 and on lower, below average volume as the 10 day MVA (38.86) rose up to meet it. Now SJM and the 10 day are meeting, and this often produces another move up in strong stocks. We have been watching SJM ever since the move, waiting for the next opportunity. Accumulation since September (the start of the small double bottom it broke out of) is solid at 3 accumulation weeks to 1 distribution week. Now we look for the next breakout.
Volume: 231.4K Avg Volume: 317.181K
BUY POINT: $40.15 Volume=476K Target=$48 Stop=$37.65
POSITION: SJM DJ - April $35c (77 delta) and/or Stock

Play Date: 12/02/2002
YELL (Yellow Corp.--$29.7; -0.02; optionable): Trucking
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/y/yell.html
STATUS: Cup. Improving economic numbers, retail and otherwise, means that associated sectors enjoy improvement as well. YELL broke out of a 4-month cup w/handle in mid-October and then formed this last base the past 6 weeks. Accumulation in that base is positive at 2 accumulation weeks to 1 distribution week. YELL looks as if it is starting to form a handle here at 30 as it spent the last two days stalled at that level. Another few days at this level and then the breakout is ready.

http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/acti.html
STATUS: Ascending wedge. Still moving toward a breakout from the wedge, tapping the 10 day MVA on the Monday low (9) and rebounding on rising, above average volume. Looks ready for the breakout.

http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/avp.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Testing lower in the handle of the 7-month base, holding at the 200 day MVA on the close after testing lower. Money flow continues its hard charge ahead of the price.
Volume: 1.133M Avg Volume: 1.298M

DMRC (Digimarc--$15.73; -0.04; optionable): Security software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dmrc.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Very tight hammer doji on the 10 day MVA Monday as volume shot up to well above average levels. Looks ready to make the breakout from its 8-month base sporting excellent accumulation at 8 up weeks on rising volume (accumulation) to 3 down weeks on rising volume (distribution).
Volume: 193.422K Avg Volume: 65.681K
BUY POINT: $17.01 Volume=100K Target=$20.45 Stop=$15.65

Play Date: 10/14/2002
ELAB (Eon Labs--$23.55; -0.21; no options): Drugs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/elab.html
STATUS: Ascending wedge. Still tight in the wedge, testing just below the 18 day MVA on the low (22.95) and snapped back to close at the 10 day MVA. Volume moved up to just below average as it did, the best volume in a week. Waiting for that big volume breakout.
Volume: 228.625K Avg Volume: 256.363K

Play Date: 11/23/2002
FFIV (F5 Networks--$14.36; +0.34; optionable): Internet software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/ffiv.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. FFIV attempted the breakout Monday as volume moved above average and the stock rallied higher only to give the move back. Another reversal from the breakout point leaving a doji on the candlestick pattern, but it is close to the 200 day MVA and this has been a good consolidation over that breakout point. Will let it reload and try again.
Volume: 792.277K Avg Volume: 518K
BUY POINT: $14.54 Volume=750K Target=$17.97 Stop=$13.45
POSITION: FLK DV - April $12.50c (70 delta, low OI) and/or Stock

FRGO (Fargo Electronics--$12.53; +0.76; no options): Business software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/frgo.html
STATUS: Cup. Big breakout on big volume Monday as FRGO continued its move higher after the late-October breakout. Very nice move.
Volume: 680.1K Avg Volume: 129.09K
BUY POINT: Still a buy here up to 12.75 (orig. $12.49). Volume=270K Target=$15 Stop=$11.62

Play Date: 11/30/2002
ICST (Integrated Circuit System--$22.79; -0.49; optionable): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/icst.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Testing the 18 day MVA(22.65) as anticipated. ICST tried to make the move Monday but reversed to close at the 18 day as the market reversed. Volume jumped on the action; it was trying to make the move. Accumulation in the base is solid at 12 accumulation weeks to 7 distribution weeks.
Volume: 1.531M Avg Volume: 1.923M
BUY POINT: $25.05 Volume=3M Target=$29.94 Stop=$23.3
POSITION: IUY DX - April $22.50c (66 delta, low OI) and/or Stock

Play Date: 11/30/2002
ISSX (Internet Security System--$24.34; -0.69; optionable): Internet security
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/issx.html
STATUS: New buy point. Testing the 10 day MVA. ISSX fell a bit harder Monday, rallying to close back over the 10 day MVA on some higher though still below average volume. It needs some more lateral movement to calm down and consolidate the move. An early leader, it may even test the 18 day MVA (22.90) intraday before making the move back up.
Volume: 1.731M Avg Volume: 2.063M
BUY POINT: $25.05 Volume=2.5M Target=$31 Stop=$23.3

Play Date: 11/13/2002
JOSB (Joseph A. Banks--$25.05; -0.25; no options): Apparel
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/j/josb.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle/ascending wedge combo. Reached much lower intraday (24) and snapped back on some volume to again close near the 18 day MVA. Still shaking out the last sellers, and we are just waiting for the move.
Volume: 134.765K Avg Volume: 158.909K
BUY POINT: New: 26.25 (orig. $25.51) Volume=250K Target=$30.45 Stop=$23.35

Play Date: 11/30/2002
MBT (Mobil Telesys--$40.09; +1.14; no options): Wireless communications
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mbt.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Gapped higher for the breakout on some great volume. Raced up to 41.50 on the high but hten close back where it opened. Tough to get in on such a move; hate to enter as it continues to erode during the session. We are going to see if it can hold the move and then start back up for the buy.
Volume: 305.3K Avg Volume: 150K
BUY POINT: $40.06 Volume=225K Target=$47.96 Stop=$37.26

Play Date: 11/23/2002
PVSW (Pervasive Software--$4.14; +0.05; no options): Application software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pvsw.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Still holding above the 10 day MVA just over 4, PVSW showed a bit higher volume though still well below average on the action. Good pattern still and good action. Accumulation is solid at 8 up weeks on rising volume to 5 down weeks on lower volume. Still need to see the breakout on some big volume.
Volume: 37.8K Avg Volume: 65.409K
BUY POINT: $4.27 Volume=125K Target=$5.35 Stop=$3.97
POSITION: Stock (no option chain)
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/pvsw.html
QLGC (Qlogic--$43.22; -0.22; optionable): Data storage
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/q/qlgc.html
STATUS: Ascending wedge. Was on the verge of making the breakout, showing rising though still below average volume. It reversed and closed lower, but not much. Still holding at the top of the pattern, we will just bide our time until it is ready to make its move. Money flow continues to move ahead of the price. Good sector.
Volume: 13.709M Avg Volume: 16.679M
BUY POINT: $45.04 Volume=20M Target=$51.45 Stop=$41.89
POSITION: QLC DH - April $40c (65 delta) and/or Stock

Play Date: 11/26/2002
RMHT (RMH Teleservices--$11.5; -0.05; no options): Management services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rmht.html
STATUS: Testing the 200 day MVA breakout. Another very tight doji right on the 10 day MVA as volume jumped up sharply to above average levels. The active volume is promising as it moves laterally above the 200 day MVA (10.71).
Volume: 74.6K Avg Volume: 63.545K
BUY POINT: $12.45 Volume=98K Target=$15.55 Stop=$11.35

Play Date: 11/30/2002
SRNA (Serena Software--$19; +0.83; optionable): Business software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/srna.html
STATUS: Testing the breakout. SRNA moved up off the 10 day MVA (18.20) Monday as volume jumped back to above average levels. Solid move as the rest of the tech market was weaker. Like the action and it looks as if SRNA is ready for the breakout. May need another day or two to get things just right, but we need to be ready.
Volume: 646.739K Avg Volume: 442.318K
BUY POINT: $19.85 Volume=710K Target=$24.55 Stop=$18.46
POSITION: NHU EW - May $17.50c (66 delta, low OI) and/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/srna.html
Play Date: 11/30/2002
SYMC (Symantec--$44.1; +0.37; optionable): Internet software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/symc.html
STATUS: Testing the breakout. Held the 10 day MVA on the low (43.50) and then rallied up on sharply higher though still below average volume. SYMC gave back $1 from its intraday high; it may take another couple of sessions to start the bounce that holds, but we want to be ready if it makes the move and rallies. This is the second bounce following the breakout, a good entry point.
Volume: 3.593M Avg Volume: 4.192M
BUY POINT: $44.51 Volume=4.5M Target=$52 Stop=$41.98
POSITION: SYQ DH - April $40c (72 delta) and/or Stock

Play Date: 11/26/2002
TMCS (Ticketmaster--$25.94; +0.15; optionable): Tickets online
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tmcs.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Another session on the 10 day MVA, showing a hammer doji. TMCS is showing all signs it is ready to make the move up. We just have to let it make the move.
Volume: 665.163K Avg Volume: 842.272K
BUY POINT: $26.45 Volume=1.2M Target=$31.75 Stop=$24.61
POSITION: QMF DX - April $22.50c (73 delta, low OI) and/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/tmcs.html
Play Date: 11/30/2002
UNTD (United Online--$15.6; -0.33; optionable): Internet software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/u/untd.html
STATUS: Testing the breakout. Testing the 10 day MVA on the close as volume moved up to near average levels. Again, UNTD was an early leader in the rally and it is consolidating some of its gain. This is the second test of the 10 day MVA (15.62) since the breakout, and stocks typically give 4 to 5 such bounces before testing lower. This is a good entry point as it is still relatively early in the run.
Volume: 747.344K Avg Volume: 781.863K
BUY POINT: $16.25 Volume=1M Target=$19.65 Stop=$15.11
POSITION: QAB CC - Mar. $15c (65 delta, low OI) and/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/untd.html
Play Date: 11/20/2002
ZBRA (Zebra Technologies--$65.42; +1.2; optionable): PC peripherals
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/z/zbra.html
STATUS: Testing the breakout. As most of the techs sold back ZBRA moved up off the 10 day MVA (64.40), holding most of its gain on rising, slightly above average volume. It was testing its strong breakout move, and the action at the 10 day MVA is a good indication the stock wants to make a continued breakout move. Money flow is excellent, still moving up even as the stocks tests back.
Volume: 381.337K Avg Volume: 311.5K
BUY POINT: $66.35 Volume=475K Target=$74.75 Stop=$62
POSITION: ZBQ EM - May $65c (57 delta, low OI) and/or Stock
