SEMINARS ON CD

There is an incredible wealth of knowledge, years of experience, and 'how to' plans of action in these seminars. As one graduate put it, "I had no idea how little I knew about market direction and the reasons behind it until I took your course." Our graduates over the past year and one-half have made the bear market in stocks their own private second bull market because they learned how to and when to enter the downside and make dramatic profit from what most investors dread. Have the knowledge to take advantage of any kind of market as well as the confidence to act when you see the action unfold. We cover it all from trends, to accumulation/distribution, patterns, stocks, buying and selling options naked, covered, or creating spreads. Go to
http://www.stockseminarsonline.com

This is Jon Johnson's own site devoted exclusively to seminars designed to teach you what you need to know about the stock market and stock movement and how to take advantage of those moves without incurring the usual high costs of travel and related expenses usually associated with seminars.

THE PLAYS

Good movers: BCGI; EBAY; NTES; PRA; UPL; WCS

Friday Plays:
NTII: Took a breather after the breakout.
SPP: Still in the very nice handle with a big volume spike.
VIP: Broke down.
BPRX: Still working in the very nice handle.
CYLK: Broke down to the 18 day MVA.

Best Plays:
1) CUB: Added to the SP600 and just looking good.
2) CAKE: Ready to fall further.
3) ACTI: Holding up well.
4) Continuing: BPRX; GRMN; IGEN; SP; CGX; DANKY; RNBO

New Plays:

Play Date: 01/18/2003
CUB (Cubic Corp.--$22.60; -0.02; optionable): Scientific & technical instruments
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cub.html
STATUS: Testing 200 day MVA breakout. CUB was one of our favorite stocks in 2001 and the first half of 2002 as it was a split play and then a post-split play with huge upside. It ran its course with that final blow off top run in May, adding 37% to the already huge gain up to that point. It then collapsed into the current base. It is now working back up, breaking over the 200 day MVA (20.74) 5 sessions back and now moving laterally in a test of that breakout. Friday CUB showed a huge volume spike as it was being added to the SP600. That helped it make the recent jump but CUB has also announced several solid contracts of late. Accumulation in the 8-month base is solid at 8 up weeks on rising volume (accumulation) to 3 down weeks on rising volume (distribution). Very solid.

BUY POINT: $23.03 Volume=225K Target=$27.63 Stop=$21.42
POSITION: CUB GX - July $22.50c (74 delta, low OI) and/or Stock

Play Date: 01/18/2003
GPRO (Gen Probe--$27.4; +2.81; no options): Research services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gpro.html
STATUS: Breakout. A new issue in September, GPRO has enjoyed very solid success, breaking out of an ascending triangle of sorts Friday on an upgrade. New issues are the lifeblood of the market as they represent the new companies with new ideas that are the growth stocks of the future (remember when MSFT, DELL, CSCO, EBAY, YHOO were just little tikes?). Strong move will most likely test lower toward 26 over the next week, but we are willing to take a partial position on a further move from here and then after the test is completed and it starts to move up from that test lower.

Downside:

Play Date: 01/18/2003
CAKE (Cheesecake Factory--$31.75; -0.75; optionable): Restaurants
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cake.html
STATUS: Put. CAKE is one of the 'mall' restaurants with many of its locations in shopping malls. It was hit with the reports that holiday traffic (at least sales) were light. It gapped down through its 200 day MVA (34.61) 6 sessions back and has made a token effort holding some support at 32. Friday that started to cave in as volume rose and CAKE slipped to a new low since the breakdown. Money flow has tanked and the stock is under heavy distribution. Looking to catch the next slide lower.
Volume: 1.257M Avg Volume: 720K
BUY POINT: $31.64 Volume=800K Target=$28 Stop=$32.75
POSITION: CFQ PG - April $35p (-62 delta)

Revisited:

Play Date: 01/04/2003
ACTI (Activecard--$8.58; -0.28; no options): Security software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/acti.html
STATUS: Ascending wedge. Still looking pretty darn good, holding on the 50 day MVA with a hammer doji Friday on very low volume as the market sold. We really like this sector and the way the stock is holding up, using the 50 day MVA as support in the pattern.
Volume: 27.975K Avg Volume: 167.772K
BUY POINT: $8.95 Volume=225K Target=$10.75 Stop=$8.28
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

Play Date: 01/14/2003
DTAS (Digitas Inc.--$4.05; -0.11; no options): Internet software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dtas.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. DTAS is still working through its 6-month base as part of a larger base that started in April. Solid accumulation with the big base showing 10 up weeks on rising volume to just 4 down weeks on rising volume. It is still moving laterally over the 10 day MVA just over 4 as it consolidates its jump over the 200 day MVA near 3.60. Volume has been picking up over the past week on up sessions, and Friday it held up well in the market selling, pulling back in the range on some lower volume. A solid sector in this market, and we are impressed by how well it has held up. Money flow is shooting up ahead of the stock.
Volume: 147.52K Avg Volume: 105.772K
BUY POINT: $4.33 Volume=200K Target=$5.51 Stop=$3.94
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)
