PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT PLAYS
TTC announced its split!
Play Date: 03/13/2003
BSX (Boston Scientific--$47.4; +0.58; optionable): Forecast to announce a split on 5-6-03 in conjunction with earnings. The company has not confirmed this date, but based upon our research this is the date for the announcement
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2 for 1 split on 8-27-98 at a stock price of $40. The annual shareholder meeting was on 5-7-02. The company has sufficient shares for a 2 for 1 split.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bsx.html
STATUS: Cup. BSX is not coming back to test the move, instead plowing higher Friday when it finally got a shot of above average volume. BSX is looking solid, and we will look for a test of support at 46 and a strong move up off of that level.
Volume: 3.005M Avg Volume: 2.335M
BUY POINT: New: Test of 46, then $46.75 (top of handle); orig. $44.55 Volume=3.4M Target=$50.55 Stop=$41.65
POSITION: BSX HV - Aug. $42.50c (62 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 02/15/2003
CECO (Career Education--$51.01; +0.8; optionable): Education and training. Forecast to announce a split on 4-8-03 in conjunction with earnings. The company has not confirmed this date, but based upon our research this is the date for the announcement.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2 for 1 split on 4-31-01 in conjunction with earnings. The stock price was $61. The annual shareholder meeting was on 5-11-02 at which time authorized shares were increased. The company has sufficient shares for a 2 for 1 split.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/ceco.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Continues to rally higher up off the 10 day MVA after testing that lvel Wednesday. Not Volume finally moved above average Friday on that move, but it was not present before then. It is a bit extended to move into so we are still looking for a test and bounce before taking new positions. CECO simply did not show good volume action as it started the move up and we would prefer to stick with stocks that break higher on volume. Waiting for a pullback for an entry point.
Volume: 863.453K Avg Volume: 685.363K
BUY POINT: New: no new positions until CECO tests this move (orig. $48.07) Volume=1.4M Target=$54 Stop=$45.74
POSITION: CUY TI - July $45c (58 delta, low OI) and/or Stock

Play Date: 03/08/2003
EBAY (Ebay--$89.79; +0.64; optionable): Internet auctions, sales. Forecast to announce a split April 22 after the market close in conjunction with earnings.
BACKGROUND: EBAY announced a 3:1 stock split 1-26-99 and then a 2:1 stock split in April 2000 at a stock price of $140.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/ebay.html
STATUS: New high breakout. Showed a doji after the strong move the past seven sessions as EBAY rallied hard on continued above average volume. The doji indicates that EBAY may be topping out here and coming back for a test of the strong move. That would be normal action and we want to see it on mild volume. The 10 day MVA is right at 85, and a test back toward that level is expected.
Volume: 7.485M Avg Volume: 5.516M
BUY POINT: No new positions now until get a test back (orig. $80.08) Volume=8M Target=$92 Stop=$77.04
POSITION: QXB GP - July $80c (54 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/ebay.html
Play Date: 03/13/2003
IGT (International Game Technology--$87.2; +2.29; optionable): Forecast to announce a split on 4-22-03 during the market in conjunction with earnings.
BACKGROUND: Based upon our research it does not appear that IGT has ever split its stock. The annual shareholder meeting was on 3-4-02 at which time no additional shares were authorized. The company has sufficient shares for a 2 for 1 split.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/igt.html
STATUS: Rolling. Unreal move, surging again Friday on lower though still solid above average volume. Just letting IGT work for us and it is near the initial target price on this move. If it hits the target we will take some gains on option positions, but will let the stock positions continue to work for us. We will look for the next test to provide the next entry point.
Volume: 1.423M Avg Volume: 1.092M
BUY POINT: New: Waiting for a test toward 83. (orig. $80.06) Volume=1.2M Target=$88 Stop=$77.74

Play Date: 03/11/2003
SYK (Stryker--$70.1; +1.01; optionable): Medical instruments. Working on a date for SYK
BACKGROUND: Last split 2:1 5/15/2000. Price at the time of announcement was $60.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/syk.html
STATUS: Cup. After testing back to the 10 day MVA (68.15) Wednesday, SYK shot higher, gapping up again Friday on rising, above average volume. This puts SYK right back at 70 where it peaked on the original move. The stock is showing good price/volume action, and we want to see that carry it past this prior high to break it free again.
Volume: 1.094M Avg Volume: 729.863K
BUY POINT: New: Test toward 68, then 68.25 on the move back up (orig. $65.55) Volume=800K Target=$73.75 Stop=$63.94
POSITION: SYK IM - Sept. $65c (55 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 02/25/2003
TTC (Toro--$72.25; +2.47; optionable): Motorized farm and home tools. Announced a 2:1 split Friday (3-21)!!
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/ttc.html
STATUS: Breakout. After its month-long consolidation of the February breakout, TTC announced its split and surged higher Friday on its best volume since its breakout in mid-February. This puts TTC at an all-time high, a true market leader. Now we are going to enjoy the ride some, letting it work for us some more.
Volume: 180.8K Avg Volume: 86.363K
BUY POINT: New: no new positions at this point (orig. $70.05; $68.85) Volume=137K Target=$76.55 Stop=$65.35
POSITION: TTC FM - June $65c (72 delta, low OI) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/ttc.html
PRE-SPLIT PLAYS
Play Date: 02/20/2003
FCN (FTI Consulting--$44.02; +0.02; optionable): Management services. Splits 3:2 on 5-7-03.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/fcn.html
STATUS: Ascending triangle. FCN started moving out of its consolidation of the past three weeks, rallying Friday on much stronger, above average volume as this stock hit an all-time high on the action. It gave back a third of the move, so it was not a clean breakaway move. Still solid action and we are looking for FCN to kick off the next leg from here. Solid 10 to 6 accumulation in the bigger base. Still a buy at this point on a continued volume move.
Volume: 205.9K Avg Volume: 242.409K
BUY POINT: New: $44.88 (orig. $44.55; $42.96) Volume=400K Target=$48.38 Stop=$40.15
POSITION: FCN FH - June $40c (66 delta, low OI) &/or Stock

POST-SPLIT PLAYS:
Lots of good moves from these stocks.
Play Date: 03/04/2003
GSOF (Group 1 Software--$15.55; +0.13; no options): Application software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gsof.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. GSOF is still trying to move through a handle to its 10-week base that shows very solid 4 to 1 accumulation. It lost some of its lateral consolidation the past week, but all it did was test lower to the 50 day MVA (15) as volume dried up below average. This could be just a shakeout as we have seen from other stocks that have made the same move and then broken higher. With the solid accumulation and god money flow, we will be watching for that same action here from GSOF.
Volume: 67.3K Avg Volume: 103.636K
