THE PLAYS

Good movers Wednesday: SOX; AMI; ORCC

Tuesday night play results:
AMI: Nice volume break higher.
TLCV: Still very solid.
NXTL: Surged higher on volume but gave the move back.
UTSI: Volume is surging as it tested the 10 day MVA and fell again. Looks ready.

New Plays for Thursday:

Upside:

Play Date: 09/24/2003
CYPB (Cypress Biosciences--$8.3; +0.62; no options): Biotechnology
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cypb.html
STATUS: Breakout test. CYPB broke from a 10 week base to start the month, surging to 8.70 on th ehigh. It has spent the past two weeks coming back to test the move, holding roughly at the 10 day MVA (7.82) on mostly lower volume. Wednesday CYPB ignored the market and started higher on an excellent surge in above average volume. Outstanding accumulation with money flow surging higher ahead of price and relative strength ready to breakout again.
Volume: 578.4K Avg Volume: 196.227K
BUY POINT: $8.42 Volume=294K Target=$10.55 Stop=$7.78
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

Downside:

Play Date: 09/24/2003
ISIL (Intersil Holdings--$25.55; -1.5; optionable): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/isil.html
STATUS: Double top. ISIL looked as if it was forming up a base, but it faltered, sank to the 50 day MVA (26.69), and then blew out that level Wednesday. Volume was not very high on the move and we want to see more. It may come back up to test the 50 day MVA before it resumes the fall. Either way, a move down from here or a 50 day MVA test, we will look at moving into positions.
Volume: 1.679M Avg Volume: 3.101M
BUY POINT: From here: $25.42 Volume=3M Target=$23 Stop=$26.72
POSITION: UFH WE - Nov. $25p (-41 delta)

Continuing plays that look ready:

Play Date: 09/10/2003
WMGI (Wright Medical--$25.4; -0.23; optionable): Medical appliances
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/w/wmgi.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. WMGI continues to form the handle to its short but nice 8 week base. The handle is forming on very low, below average volume as it should, holding over the 18 day MVA (25) as it does with strong money flow and relative strength starting to rise for a breakout. Very good action in a selling market and looking for a breakout on above average volume.
Volume: 186.776K Avg Volume: 257.681K
BUY POINT: $26.04 Volume=400K Target=$31.25 Stop=$24.68
POSITION: QWM KE - Nov. $25c (60 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cd/wmgi.html

Continuing plays that still look good: UTSI looks ready to tank. ORCC looks ready to resume higher. TLCV is also in a good sector and looks ready to move.
