STATUS: Cup. NXG was a new issued in July and promptly ralllied up to 1.80 in early September before forming the current 4 week base, its first base since coming public. We really like to pick up initial offerings after their first base as that gets rid of the early profit takers and sets the stage for stronger and longer moves. Volume surged Tuesday and Wednesday as it rallied toward the breakout. Strong money flow and relative strength ready to make the breakout.

STATUS: Double bottom. NANO has formed a short 4 week double bottom that is consolidating the the breakout from a 2 month base in early September. Accumulation during the base is positive at 2 to 0 (2 up weeks on rising volume to 0 down weeks on rising volume). Strong money flow, strong relative strength ready to breakout again. Volume surged Wednesday as NANO jumped up off of the 18 day MVA (13). Faded off the high (15.37) on the close, but still a solid pattern and a solid move with money flowing into it.

AVP (Avon Products--$67.44; +0.39; optionable): Makeup. Forecast to announce a split 10-28-03 before the market opens in conjunction with earnings.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2 for 1 split on 7-22-98 in conjunction with earnings. The stock price was $43. The annual shareholder meeting is scheduled for 5-1-03 at 10:00 ET at which time no additional shares will be authorized. The company has sufficient shares for a 2 for 1 split.
