Play Date: 12/09/2003
LLTC (Linear Technology--$39.8; -1.16; optionable): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/l/lltc.html
STATUS: Head and shoulders. LLTC is starting the breakdown from an 8 week heand and shoulders pattern, a bearish indication. Friday it broke the 50 day MVA (41.30) on strong, above average volume, testing the breakdown with a low volume bounce Monday, then rolled over from the 50 day Tuesday on again rising, above average volume. The move below 40 breaks it out from the neckline in the pattern. Looking for a run to the 200 day MVA.
Volume: 5.526M Avg Volume: 4.944M
BUY POINT: $39.48 Volume=5M Target=$36.88 Stop=$40.55
POSITION: LLQ NH - Feb. $40p (-49 delta)

Play Date: 12/09/2003
SSTI (Silicon Storage Tech--$11.28; -1.01; optionable): Semiconductor memory chips
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/ssti.html
STATUS: Put. SSTI was leading the move up, but it thudded to the 50 day MVA (11.81) to end last week on storng volume, tried to hold on lighter trade, then knifed through that key support Tuesday on a big volume surge. This move comes after a double top in November and early December. It may test the 50 day MVA before falling further. We will look at taking a partial position on a further move down and then again on a test. If it tests first and rolls over, we will jump on with the full position on that move.
Volume: 3.364M Avg Volume: 1.946M
BUY POINT: From here: $11.06. Test of 11.80, then 11.55 on the way back down. Volume=2.4M Target=$9.05 Stop=$12.75
POSITION: SJV MV - Jan. $12.50p (-74 delta)

Play Date: 12/09/2003
DTAS (Digitas Inc.--$9.3; +0.39; no options): Internet services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dtas.html
STATUS: Flat base. DTAS is making the breakout move from an 8 week flat base sporting positive 2 to 1 accumulation (2 up weeks on rising volume to 1 down week on rising volume. For the short pattern that is not bad; all it takes is positive accumulation to set the foundation for a breakout and good run. Tuesday DTAS started toward the breakout on average volume. Good money flow and a relative strength breakout already, an indication of strength of the move to come.
Volume: 388.02K Avg Volume: 344.409K
BUY POINT: $9.42 Volume=517K Target=$11.88 Stop=$8.76
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

Play Date: 12/09/2003
TELK (Telik--$21.6; -0.42; optionable): Drugs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/telk.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Working on the handle to an 8 week base, holding over the 10 day MVA (21.31) as it works laterally and slightly lower the past 6 sessions on lower, below average volume. This is the part of the pattern that shakes out the last sellers that bought earlier only to see the stock fall. Accumulation in the base is a solid 2 to 0, and money flow is surging up ahead of the stock. Just being patient and waiting for a high volume breakout move.
Volume: 335.605K Avg Volume: 441.045K
BUY POINT: $22.34 Volume=662K Target=$26.84 Stop=$20.78
POSITION: ZUL DX - Apr. $22.50c (45 delta) &/or Stock
