Begin part 3 of 3

THE PLAYS

Good movers Monday: ALTI; AZPN; FL; IONA; IVIL; JNPR; NANX; PAL; RWY; SYMM; TGT; TXN; YHOO

Weekend play results:

TQNT: Gapped higher but on lower volume. Not quite there.
EAG: Volume started to move higher as it started toward the breakout.
VRC: After the big surge Friday VRC edged back on low trade. Just took a day off.

New Plays for Tuesday:

Play Date: 01/12/2004
AVAN (Avant Immunotherapeutics--$3.27; +0.16; no options): Diagnostic substances
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/avan.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle AVAN is making the breakout from its 7.5 month base. Accumulation in the pattern is an outstanding 11 to 2 (11 up price weeks on rising volume ot 2 down price weeks on rising volume). Volume has surged the past two sessions as AVAN moved up to the breakout. Money flow is surging and relative strength is ready to breakout, an indication the strength of the stock. It pulled off the high (3.37) some on the close; it may try to test back some before continuing, but a solid break higher, and on a further move up on volume we will look at starting a position.
Volume: 1.352M Avg Volume: 609.045K
BUY POINT: $3.34 Volume=914K Target=$4.18 Stop=$3.11
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

Play Date: 01/12/2004
BRKT (Brooktrout Tech--$14.97; +0.24; optionable): Networking and communication
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/brkt.html
STATUS: Cup. BRKT is showing excellent price/volume action as it rallies toward a breakout. Volume spiked up sharply 3 of the last 5 sessions as the stock moved higher. It may move laterally some here at the prior highs to form a handle, i.e., a lateral to slightly lower move on low volume before making the next break higher. With the solid volume, however, we are looking for it to continue the move from here.
Volume: 159.3K Avg Volume: 125K
BUY POINT: $15.58 Volume=188K Target=$18.71 Stop=$14.49
POSITION: BUQ GC - July $15c (57 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 01/12/2004
ISSI (Integrated Silicon--$19.75; +1.65; optionable): Semiconductor memory chips
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/issi.html
STATUS: Cup. ISSI is breaking out on high volume from a short base formed in November and December. Accumulation is strong at 4 to 1 and money flow is surging as the stock makes its breakout. Volume has been very strong and we are looking for a continued move. The current pattern formed over the 50 day MVA (15.89), another indication of support as buyers did not let it fall below that key support level. Still a buy on a continued move higher that is still showing good trade.
Volume: 1.429M Avg Volume: 581.454K
BUY POINT: $19.88 Volume=950K Target=$23 Stop=$17.98
POSITION: IUH FD - June $20c (55 delta) &/or Stock

Continuing: CAMD; EAG; ESIO; OPLK; SBUX; WMS

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they set up well.

AVID, COH, DIS, GTRC, KKD, LPNT, OCR, TGT, UTSI, XMSR

AVID: Nice move on volume up off the 50 day MVA. Building a nice base but more work to do.

UTSI: Recovering on some volume from that tanking on the sale of more shares Friday.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from our subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look at them and sometimes find a few pearls. We are including subscriber choices that could develop into plays. We are not necessarily endorsing these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to their portfolio. Typically we will put these on without commentary, but if we see something we really like or dislike we will point it out. That way we can maybe come up with some new plays, find some plays that may fit your style, and have another great educational tool to discuss problems or good aspects about stocks our subscribers are looking at.

FDC: Broke out in early December and surged 10 points. It has moved lower the past two weeks, testing back to the 18 day MVA and holding that level. It is trying to set up for the next move once the mining stocks are ready to move again.

WBSN: Testing the 10 day MVA. WBSN finally made a definitive move in mid-December, rallying to 32 on the breakout move. The past week it has moved back to test the break, holding the 10 day MVA and showing a doji on higher volume Monday. May be ready to start back up.
