Begin part 3 of 3
THE PLAYS:
Weekend play results:
CACH: Gapped higher on stronger, above average volume.
NVTL: Strong run early but then gave it all back.
PCR: Nice volume jump off the 18 day MVA.
MTIC: Nice volume break higher.
RMKR: Super break higher on high volume.
New Plays:
Still looking for those stocks in good patterns that will be early leaders.
Upside:
Play Date: 03/29/2004
C (Citigroup--$51.32; +1.26; optionable): Large bank, big credit services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/c.html
STATUS: Flat base breakout. C is making the breakout move from a 12 week base that has formed over the 50 day MVA (49.61). Holding over the 50 day during the base is a sign that institutions have been stepping in to buy the stock as it tests that key support level. Accumulation in the base is an excellent 5 to 1 (5 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price week on rising volume). That also shows big money moving in as the stock worked through the base. Volume jumped two weeks back, but in the market pullback it fell back into the base. Monday volume was up and well above average again as it gapped higher and ran. Looks solid and we are looking for a short term return and some longer term gains as well.
Volume: 15.272M Avg Volume: 12.09M
BUY POINT: $51.62 Volume=17M Target=$59.45 Stop=$49.55
POSITION: C IJ - Aug. $50c (67 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 03/29/2004
CPTV (Captiva Software--$14.4; +1.27; no options): Application software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cptv.html
STATUS: Ascending triangle. Volume is surging as CPTV makes the breakout move from its 16 week base. Outstanding 5 to 0 accumulation in the base, showing money moving in over the life of the base. Superb money flow rising higher ahead of price and relative strength is making the breakout move. Looks very good. This breakout is taking it to a multiyear high and that means little overhead resistance and room to run.
Volume: 231.357K Avg Volume: 118.318K
BUY POINT: $14.55 Volume=175K Target=$17.48 Stop=$13.53

Play Date: 03/29/2004
EEFT (Euronet Worldwide--$19.02; -0.08; no options): Secure financial transactions, ATM's in Europe and USA
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/eeft.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Volume is jumping higher as EEFT starts to work on the breakout from its 12 week handle to its 27 month base. Accumulation is excellent at 26 to 7 in the base and 3 to 0 in the handle. Money flow is running up ahead of the price as it works in the handle, and relative strength is ready for the breakout. The handle is the part of the base where those that bought at the prior highs get frustrated because the stock starts to drift back down. They go ahead and sell, and when they are gone the stock is in the hands of longer term holders.
Volume: 240.297K Avg Volume: 150.272K
BUY POINT: $20.38 Volume=225K Target=$24.68 Stop=$18.95

Play Date: 03/29/2004
FSH (Fisher Scientific--$53.56; -0.12; optionable): Wholesale electronics
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/fsh.html
STATUS: Flat base. FSH is a leading stock as far as sales and earnings growth. It broke out of a 4.5 month flat base in mid-January and put in a 15 point run. It is working that move off, working laterally over the 18 day MVA (53.26). Volume surged two weeks back as FSH came off of support near 52.50. It has eased back to the short term MVA, showing low, below average volume as it does. Excellent money flow and positive 2 to 1 accumulation in the base. Looking for volume to surge back above average as it moves through the buy point.
Volume: 917.8K Avg Volume: 1.033M
BUY POINT: $54.55 Volume=1.6M Target=$62.75 Stop=$52.96
POSITION: FSH FK - June $55c (44 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ci/fsh.html
Downside:
Play Date: 03/29/2004
PPP (Pogo Producing--$44; +0.42; optionable): Oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/ppp.html
STATUS: Put. PPP crashed the 200 day MVA (44.49) last Wednesday on strong trade, and it has rebounded back up to test that important level on lower volume. It tapped the 200 day on the Monday high and fell back as volume was even lower. Looks ripe to roll over again.
Volume: 230.2K Avg Volume: 455.545K
BUY POINT: $43.75 Volume=500K Target=$41 Stop=$44.68
POSITION: PPP QZ - May $45p (-60 delta)

Good movers Monday: FINL; KFX; MTIC; MXT; NVDA; ONCY; PDQ; RHAT; RMKR; SWK; TASR; TKO
