NEW PLAYS:
Upside:
Play Date: 04/12/2004
ABMD (Abiomed--$9.68; +0.13; optionable): Medical instruments
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/abmd.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Blasted out of a 5 month cup base to start the month, rallied to 10.60) and then started to test the move with the current low volume pullback. It is holding onto most of its gains as money flow continues to surge higher. Very solid 7 to 4 accumulation in the base (7 up price weeks on rising volume to 4 down price weeks on rising volume) shows money flow moving into the stock during this base. Relative strength broke out on this move, a solid indication of the strength of the move. It may take another couple of days to finish the test, but with the strong money flow we want to be ready to move.

APSG (Applied Signal--$29.28; +1.74; no options): Telecom equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/apsg.html
STATUS: Cup with handle breakout. Volume is shooting higher as APSG breaks out from a 12 week base that formed at the 50 day MVA (26.41). Positive 4 to 3 accumulation in the pattern and money flow is shooting higher ahead of the stock and relative strength is breaking out. It announced its earnings in February, so this is simply a good breakout.

DRTE (Dendrite Intl.--$17.45; +0.45; optionable): Application software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/drte.html
STATUS: Flat base. DRTE is working on the breakout from a 5.5 month base that formed along the 50 day MVA (16.01). It is back at the top of the range as volume runs higher, trying to make the breakout move. Accumulation in the base is positive and money flow is outstanding, running higher ahead of price. Want to see a really strong volume move on the breakout.

OO (Oakley--$15.91; +0.23; optionable): Sporting goods (sunglasses)
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/oo.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. A nice tight, flat handle has formed the last week to its 8 week base that formed right on top of the 50 day MVA (14.85); again, that is a sign of support for the stock when the buyers use the 50 day MVA to move in an buy shares. Accumulation is solid at 3 to 1, another sign of money moving into the stock during the key base forming process. Very tight handle on very low, below average volume. Looking for a breakout on sharply higher trade.

CERN (Cerner--$47.25; +2.17; optionable): Healthcare information software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cern.html
STATUS: 50 day MVA test. Strong volume as CERN continued its move off the 50 day MVA (43.91) on rising, above average volume. Finally starting to follow that good money flow.
Volume: 737.399K Avg Volume: 608.363K

NIPNY (NEC Corp.--$8.56; +0.11; no options): PC systems
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nipny.html
STATUS: Cup with handle. Nice low volume as NIPNY continues to work on the handle of its base (a 21 week double bottom or a nice12 week cup with handle). The cup with handle has formed over the 200 day MVA (7.53) and is showing excellent 8 to 3 accumulation in the pattern. Money flow has shot higher the past few weeks and is leading the stock price. Holding well over the 10 day MVA (8.41) and just waiting for it to make the break higher.

NMSS (Natural Microsystems--$7.98; +0.38; no options): Telecom processing systems
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nmss.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Nice volume as NMSS starts breaking out of its 11 week base formed over the 50 day MVA (6.93). Excellent 5 to 0 accumulation in the base showing money moving into the stock as it rests. Money flow continues to surge higher on this move. Very nice and looks ready for more.

NSTK (Nastech Pharmaceuticals--$13.50; +0.14; no options): Drugs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nstk.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Moving well along the 18 day MVA (13.04), working laterally as it consolidates the early March break higher. Volume has dropped off the table and is well below average as it makes this move. Money flow remains strong as it does so. Looks very good and all we need is another good jump higher on above average volume.
Volume: 60.49K Avg Volume: 100.181K

RHI (Robert Half Intl.--$25.11; +0.19; optionable): Staffing & outsourcing
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rhi.html
STATUS: Test breakout. Working laterally after filling the gap higher last week. Volume has dried up to well below average as it makes the lateral move. Very nice double bottom the past 14 weeks and this is very good action. Money flow continues to move up ahead of price and we are looking for the stock to follow it.
Volume: 369.3K Avg Volume: 835.045K
BUY POINT: New: $25.38 (orig. $24.02) Volume=1.1M Target=$27.65 Stop=$22.88

Play Date: 04/09/2004
SCUR (Secure Computing--$17.05; +0.21; optionable): Security software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/scur.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Tried the breakout Monday, rallying to 17.89 on the high but then giving most of the move back. Solid above average volume, but not as much as it needed to hold the move. Excellent accumulation in the 11 week base at 6 to 1. We thought it would need another session or two and the Monday action shows it is just not quite ready but it is getting there.
Volume: 816.299K Avg Volume: 729K
BUY POINT: $17.45 Volume=1.1M Target=$21 Stop=$16.28
POSITION: UQU GW - July $17.50c (49 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 04/09/2004
TGA (Transglobe Energy--$2.91; +0.01; no options): Oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tga.html
STATUS: Double bottom. Very low volume as TGA starts to form a handle to its 11 week base. A new issued in November, TGA rallied to 3 and then started its first base. Accumulation in this base is an excellent 5 to 1. Volume surged last week, and after a few sessions of lateral movement here we are looking for it to continue to move in and break the stock out of its pattern.

TMWD (Tumbleweed Communication--$8.04; +0.27; optionable): Internet software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tmwd.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Volume surged into the stock again Monday as it rallied to 8.32 on the high but then pulled back to give up most of the gain. Excellent money flow in the 17 week base to go along with solid money flow. Took a test run Monday, and still looks ready to make the move.
Volume: 714.462K Avg Volume: 356.772K
BUY POINT: $8.12 Volume=556K Target=$9.75 Stop=$7.55
POSITION: MYQ IU - Sept. $7.50c (61 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 04/07/2004
TSYS (Telecomunications Sys.--$7.9; +0.05; no options): Wireless telecom
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tsys.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Still working on the nice, low volume handle to the 10 week base, holding over the 10 day MVA (7.72) on very low volume. This is working just like NASDAQ, shaking out the last sellers as it dips lower and lower but still a very modest pullback and holding near support. Just being patient and waiting for volume to run back in and the stock to run through they buy point.
Volume: 144.081K Avg Volume: 378.59K
BUY POINT: $8.46 Volume=570K Target=$10.18 Stop=$7.87
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)
