stock watch, stock split

Begin part 3 of 3

THE PLAYS:

Thursday night play results:
IVGN: May be forming a handle here as it stalled on lower trade. Still solid.
MGAM: Volume jumped as it broke the 50 day EMA but recovered. Will watch it but now what we wanted to see.
NATI: Tried to continue the move with a gap higher, but no volume.
RWY: Held steady as volume was lower but still above average. A good pattern still.

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 04/24/2004
CDIS (Cal Dive--$26.85; -0.51; optionable): Oil and gas equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cdis.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Working on a lower volume handle to its 7 week base that has formed over the 50 day EMA (25.65). Accumulation is solid at 3 to 0 (3 up price weeks on rising volume to 0 down weeks on rising volume), showing us that money moved into the stock even as it based. Money flow is excellent, rallying higher ahead of the stock price. An 'A' rated stock for earnings, sales, and technical position. Excellent volume Thursday as it moved up toward the breakout, but volume faded Friday. Looking for tha thigh volume breakout.
Volume: 159.334K Avg Volume: 328.181K
BUY POINT: $28.05 Volume=475K Target=$33.66 Stop=$26.35

Play Date: 04/24/2004
CRL (Charles River Labs--$45.72; -0.27; optionable): Research tools for drug development. Forecast to announce a split 4-28-04 after the close.
BACKGROUND: A new issued on 2000, CRL has yet to announce a split. It is at an all-time high and ready to move higher.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/crl.html
STATUS: Flying plateau. CRL is moving laterally in a very tight range over the 10 day EMA (45.50) following the breakout from a 6 week base that formed over the 50 day EMA (43.13), a sign of good support. Accumulation in the base is a strong 4 to 1. Relative strength is excellent as is money flow. This is an 'A' rated stock as far as earnings, sales, fundamental and technical position. Looking for a strong volume breakaway move from this lateral plateau.
Volume: 194.7K Avg Volume: 330K
BUY POINT: $46.38 Volume=495K Target=$55 Stop=$45.12
POSITION: CRL HI - Aug. $45c (61 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 04/24/2004
CULS (Cost-U-Less--$6.48; +0.56; no options): Warehouse club-style stores in US territories, foreign island countries. Now that is tapping a market. May have to make a field trip to further investigate these stores.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/culs.html
STATUS: Ascending triangle. Volume was up Friday as CULS moved toward the breakout from its 8 week base that formed over the 18 day EMA (5.68). Excellent 4 to 0 accumulation in the base showing us money moved into the stock even as it worked laterally. Money flow is strong, moving higher ahead of price. Relative strength is already making the breakout ahead of the stock, a very bullish indication.
Volume: 146.942K Avg Volume: 130.818K
BUY POINT: $6.72 Volume=200K Target=$8.38 Stop=$6.25
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

Play Date: 04/24/2004
DOX (Amdocs--$30; +0.57; optionable): Customer management software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dox.html
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. DOX is making the breakout move from its 12 week base that formed over the 50 day EMA (27.86), an indication that the stock is receiving solid support at this key level. Accumulation in the base is excellent at 4 to 0. Volume surged Thursday and was strong again Friday as DOX gapped higher on solid earnings results. It may come back to test 29, but it did that intraday, and we are willing to take positions on a further move on continued solid volume.
Volume: 2.011M Avg Volume: 1.329M
BUY POINT: $30.12 Volume=2M Target=$36.15 Stop=$28.55
POSITION: DOX GF - July $30c (54 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 04/24/2004
TASR (Taser--$81.15; +4.00; optionable): Stun guns. Splits 2:1 on 4-30-04
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tasr.html
STATUS: 50 day EMA test. We picked up TASR right after its last split and then again when it made a test of the 10 day EMA. It gave us a great ride up to last week where it rolled over on high volume. We bailed out as that could have been a blow off top. It has come back to the 50 day EMA (72.39), holding over that level and posting a modest bounce off that level Friday. It splits next week, and even if the last peak was the blow off top that can lead to a further nasty decline, we are looking for the pre-split momentum to take over and drive it higher for one last burst.
Volume: 14.538M Avg Volume: 4.358M
BUY POINT: $82.12 Volume=9M Target=$100 Stop=$79.88
POSITION: QUR FQ - June $85c (50 delta) &/or Stock
