4) BBOX: Still a nice handle forming.
5) CDIS: Volume is moving back up.
NEW PLAYS:
Upside:
Play Date: 04/26/2004
EFJI (EFJ, Inc.--$7.64; +0.22; no options): Telecom equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/efji.html
STATUS: Flying plateau. EFJI broke out of an 8 week cup w/handle base 6 sessions back on tremendous volume. It has since moved laterally at 7.50 on lower and lower volume. Monday volume shot back above average as the stock started to make the next move, but then faded back to flat after hitting 8.28 on the high. Accumulation is an excellent 6 to 2 (6 up price weeks on rising volume to 2 down price weeks on rising volume). Money flow is surging higher ahead of the stock and relative strength is ready to breakout again. Looks very solid.

MNST (Monster Worldwide--$28.81; +0.11; optionable): Internet job advertising
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mnst.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Volume was back above average Monday as MNST tried the breakout from its 7.5 month base sporting strong 9 to 4 accumulation. Very solid price/volume action as the base formed with volume spiking on the formation of the December and March lows that formed the legs of the double bottom pattern. Volume jumped as is it surged to the past the 'hump' in the middle of the pattern at 37, and has now backed off to mostly average and below average as it works laterally this month, forming the handle where the last sellers are weeded out. Looks ready to make the breakout move with money flow surging ahead of price.

MTX (Minerals Technologies--$60.40; +1.45; optionable): Mineral based products for construction, etc.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mtx.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Volume surged Monday as MTX started the breakout from its 4 month cup with handle base. Solid 7 to 4 accumulation in the base shows steady money moving into the stock as it based. The pattern formed over the 200 day SMA (54.04), an important support level. Excellent money flow. Ready to make the breakout and the next run.

OCLR (Ocular Sciences--$29.20; +0.20; optionable): Medical instruments
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/oclr.html
STATUS: Double bottom. We are calling this a double bottom but it could also be called a two-thirds complete cup base. It is in its fourteenth week, moving laterally along the 50 day EMA (28.59), an important support level. Accumulation thus far is a stellar 5 to 1, very good for this stage of the base. Money flow is surging higher ahead of the price, and it looks as if OCLR is about to follow it higher to form the right side of the base. We usually wait for the breakout, but with the strong accumulation and serious money flow we are willing to start positions on a further strong volume move.

ACXM (Acxicom--$23.80; -0.37; optionable): Information technology software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/acxm.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Still waiting on the next break higher as ACXM moves laterally over the 10 day EMA (23.75) on very low, below average volume. Money flow is excellent, and we are just waiting for it to jump up on a break past the recent highs.

BBOX (Black Box--$54.95; -0.70; optionable): PC networking and communication.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bbox.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. And still working on the handle, holding near the 18 day EMA (55.29) as it does. Very quiet, orderly action as it puts the finishing touches on its 14 week base. Again, the low volume in the handle tells us that there are few sellers. Accumulation is a strong 4 to 1, and the pattern formed over the 50 day EMA, a good sign of support.

CDIS (Cal Dive--$27.08; +0.23; optionable): Oil and gas equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cdis.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Volume was back above average Monday as CDIS posted a small gain, still working in the handle to its 7 week base that has formed over the 50 day EMA (25.71). Accumulation is solid at 3 to 0 (3 up price weeks on rising volume to 0 down weeks on rising volume), showing us that money moved into the stock even as it based. Money flow is excellent, rallying higher ahead of the stock price. Again, an 'A' rated stock for earnings, sales, and technical position. Breakout looks to be coming soon.

DOX (Amdocs--$29.41; -0.59; optionable): Customer management software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dox.html
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Tried to extend the move Monday, rallying to 30.69 on the high but then rolled over to give back Friday's move. Still stalling just after making the breakout move, not the best action, but it continues to hold a solid base. Accumulation in the base is excellent at 4 to 0. Looking for more volume and for it to hold here and then deliver a strong upside move.
Volume: 1.797M Avg Volume: 1.186M

INSP (Infospace--$41.22; +0.90; optionable): Internet information provider
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/insp.html
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. After a high volume breakout two weeks back INSP has come back to test the move and fill the gap. It has done just that, and is holding near the 18 day EMA (39.73) on lower, below average volume. Strong money flow is still moving higher ahead of the stock. Looking for volume to return and for INSP to continue the breakout move.

IVGN (Invitrogen--$76.57; +1.83; optionable): Biotechnology
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/ivgn.html
STATUS: Double bottom. Started the move again Monday on rising, above average volume, breaking over the middle of the 11 week double bottom. Solid 4 to 2 accumulation. Started the move, and is still a buy on this run.
Volume: 1.169M Avg Volume: 902K

Play Date: 04/24/2004
PRST (Presstek--$11.71; +0.16; optionable): Digital laser imaging for printing & graphics arts
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/prst.html
STATUS: 50 day EMA test. Volume backed off as PRST continued its move off the 50 day EMA (10.67). Again, it is moving in something of an ascending triangle that is using the 50 day EMA (10.67) as support, making higher lows below a relatively constant top at 12. Accumulation in the 8 week base is an excellent 5 to 0. Money flow is surging higher ahead of price and relative strength is ready for the breakout, a good confirmation of the move. Again, volume faded, but PRST still looks ready for a good breakout.
Volume: 180.159K Avg Volume: 206.318K
BUY POINT: $11.94 Volume=350K Target=$14.35 Stop=$11.09
POSITION: PQK GB - July $10c (87 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 04/20/2004
TSO (Tesoro Petroleum--$21.35; +0.45; optionable): Oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tso.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Volume started to edge higher Monday but was still well below average as TSO moved off the 10 day EMA (20.74) test. A full test of the strong breakout two weeks back, and we are looking for that money flow that is still moving up ahead of stock to take over and drive TSO back up.
Volume: 638.2K Avg Volume: 899.5K
BUY POINT: New: $21.62 (orig. $21.35) Volume=1.1M Target=$25.62 Stop=$20.18
