THE PLAYS

Good movers Monday: CTV; DKS; DO; EBAY; QCOM

Weekend play results:
BEN: Wimpy move.
SPLS: Continued the move on above average volume but needs to give us more strength.
WIND: Took a breather on low volume after the big Friday move.
AAP: Low volume 18 day EMA test. Looks ready to continue the roll over.

New plays for Tuesday:

Upside:

Play Date: 09/13/2004
PETC (Petco--$34.53; +0.90; optionable): Pet supplies
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/petc.html
After Hours: $34.51
STATUS: Flying plateau. PETC broke out from a something of a double bottom in mid-August, surging to 34. It has moved laterally the past three weeks, refusing to give back the gains. That shows strength. Volume has dried up the past two weeks and then surged Monday. Accumulation in the big pattern is 12 to 3 (12 up price weeks on rising volume to 3 down price weeks on rising volume), showing buyers moving into the base during the pattern. That sets the foundation for the breakout and the move higher. Now we want to see the move higher. Surging money flow is leading the way higher.
Volume: 688.46K Avg Volume: 539.09K
BUY POINT: $34.78 Volume=800K Target=$40 Stop=$33.97
POSITION: PQQ AH - Jan. $35c (51 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 09/13/2004
ECL (Ecolab--$30.67; 0; optionable): Cleaning products for fast food, service industries
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/ecl.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Nice handle forming to the 10 week base sporting solid 3 to 1 accumulation setting up the breakout. Money flow is solid as well; buyers moving in and setting the foundation for a breakout. Looks ready to start a new run, but needs to provide the volume on the breakout.
Volume: 537.4K Avg Volume: 595.681K
BUY POINT: $31.04 Volume=894K Target=$35 Stop=$30.42
POSITION: ECL AF - Jan. $30c (70 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 09/13/2004
SSI (Spectrasite--$44.75; +0.64; optionable): Telecom
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/ssi.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. A solid sector, and SSI is setting up very nicely for the next move higher. A nice little 10 week base that has formed over the 50 day EMA (42.89), setting up SSI for a breakout to an all-time high (a new issued in 2-03). After a nice, orderly pullback to the 18 day EMA (43.92), SSI jumped higher Monday on a strong shot of above average volume. Looking for a breakout over the recent highs to end August, and want to see volume remain solid.
Volume: 348K Avg Volume: 303.954K
BUY POINT: $45.28 Volume=450K Target=$50 Stop=$44.24
POSITION: SSI AI - Jan. $45c (53 delta) &/or Stock

Downside:

Play Date: 09/13/2004
PXD (Pioneer Natural Res.--$32.02; -0.31; optionable): Oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pxd.html
STATUS: Put. An oil and gas company that is not doing well. PXED peaked in July and rolled over, falling to the 200 day SMA (32.50). it bounced, but had no volume. It gapped back down to the 200 day a week ago and has slid along that level until Monday. Volume surged and it fell below the 200 day. Looks ready to continue the plunge with money flow diving lower and leading the way down. Looking for a nice 41%ish gain.
Volume: 1.6M Avg Volume: 914K
BUY POINT: $31.94 Volume=1.2M Target=$29.92 Stop=$32.51
POSITION: PXD VG - Oct. $35p (-76 delta)

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

BR, COH, EASI, EBAY, GMAI, GTRC, HDWR, JNPR, MSFT, QCOM

EASI: Has rallied back up to the 50 day EMA on low, below average volume. Looks ready to roll back over.

EBAY: Making the breakout move. Nice.

GTRC: Exploded higher on strong trade. Nice.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.

Downside:

GSLI: Has rallied back up to the 10 day EMA in its continuing downtrend, and it looks as if it is ready to continue the downtrend.
