THE PLAYS
Good movers Wednesday: CWTR; PETD; AAI; ERES
Tuesday night play results:
FSL: Nice doji at the 10 day EMA.
CSTR: Made the test of 22 and is ready to move higher.
ERES: Nice drop from the 18 day EMA.
New plays for Thursday:
Upside:
Play Date: 09/22/2004
AKS (AK Steel Holding--$7.60; +0.32; optionable): Steel & iron
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/aks.html
STATUS: Cup with handle. AKS is making the breakout from a nice 9 week base that formed using the 50 day EMA (6.39) as support, a good sign of big money staying with the stock. Strong 3 to 0 accumulation in the base shows all buyers, setting the foundation for a breakout that holds and runs higher. Excellent money flow as well and a relative strength breakout. Looks to be hitting on all cylinders.
Volume: 2.544M Avg Volume: 1.281M
BUY POINT: $7.72 Volume=1.9M Target=$9.25 Stop=$7.88
POSITION: AKS CU - Mar. $7.50c (50 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 09/22/2004
DAB (Dave & Busters--$18.87; +0.93; optionable): Entertainment restaurant.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dab.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. A bit lower average trade, but a nice pattern has formed once again. Nice 15 week base has formed using the 200 day SMA (15.85) as support on the low. Volume surged higher as it formed the right side of the base and then backed off in the handle. A couple of good volume spikes show strong buying continues. The break higher Wednesday was on very strong volume and relative strength is breaking out as well, a good corroboration of the move. Money flow is surging sharply higher.
Volume: 674.2K Avg Volume: 68.488K
BUY POINT: $19.98 Volume=103K Target=$23.95 Stop=$18.98
POSITION: DAB BD - Feb. $20c (42 delta) &/or Stock

Downside:
Play Date: 09/22/2004
BWA (Borg Warner--$43.42; -0.31; optionable): Auto parts
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bwa.html
STATUS: Put. Tried to set up a cup with handle base, even breaking out in late August. It came back for a test, tried to hold the 50 day EMA (44.33). It could not hold, however, and tanked through that level and the 200 day SMA (43.70). It has rebounded this week on lower and lower volume, fading from the 200 day Wednesday on rising, much stronger volume. Money flow is tanking. Ready to move in and ride it down for a 45%ish gain.
Volume: 331.3K Avg Volume: 389.982K
BUY POINT: $43.22 Volume=390K Target=$41.15 Stop=$43.75
POSITION: BWA VI - Nov. $45p (-79 delta)

Play Date: 09/22/2004
SFD (Smithfield Foods--$24.76; -0.89; optionable): Meat products
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/sfd.html
STATUS: Put. SFD gapped down in early August, gapping below the 200 day SMA (25.83) it rallied back with the market, even clearing the 200 day. That move failed, however, and SFD was tanking hard Wednesday on very strong, above average volume. Money flow is in the toilet and SFD has suffered some heavy distribution. Looking to rise it down toward the August low for a 55%ish gain.
Volume: 1.157M Avg Volume: 714.631K
BUY POINT: $24.64 Volume=715K Target=$23.04 Stop=$25.05
POSITION: SFD WE - Nov. $25p (-51 delta)

BR, COH, EASI, EBAY, GMAI, GTRC, HDWR, JNPR, MSFT, QCOM

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST
We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.
Downside:
ITRI: Breaking below support at the 18 day EMA.
Upside:
USG: Nice test of a very strong breakout from its 7 month base, easing back on lower volume to the 10 day EMA. Looking for it to hold here and continue the break higher.
