DHR: Still in the nice breakout test.

ENER: Nice volume but gave back much of the move.
TZOO: Gapped higher on earnings. Going to see if get a test Wednesday, then move in.

New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 10/12/2004
PLMD (Polymedica--$32.73; +1.02; optionable): Drugs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/plmd.html
After Hours: $32.57
STATUS: Ascending triangle. PLMD is making the breakout move from its 12 month base formed mainly along the 50 day EMA (30.42). Accumulation in the base is a strong 13 to 6 (13 up price weeks on rising volume to 6 down price weeks on rising volume), setting the stage for the breakout and run as it shows net buyers during the base. Solid money flow and relative strength making a breakout as well. Looking to pick up some positions on a further move then some more on the breakout test.

BUY POINT: $32.88 Volume=250K Target=$37.78 Stop=$31.97

Play Date: 10/12/2004
ROP (Roper Industries--$61.14; +0.09; optionable): Energy systems and controls, etc.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rop.html
STATUS: Breakout test. ROP exploded out of a 14 week saucer with handle base that formed along the 50 day EMA (56.89). Outstanding 7 to 0 accumulation in the pattern shows nothing but buyers and sets a solid foundation for the run following the breakout. Money flow is leading higher and has held up even as ROP eased back on much lower, below average volume to test the breakout move. Relative strength broke out as well, a good corroboration of the move. Looking for the next bounce on volume, though it may come back and fully test the 10 day EMA (59.82) first.
Volume: 116.6K Avg Volume: 144.727K
BUY POINT: $61.76 Volume=217K Target=$69 Stop=$59.71
POSITION: ROP BL - Feb. $60c (64 delta)

UPCS (Ubiquitel--$4.61; +0.15; no options): Telecom wireless
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/u/upcs.html
After Hours: $4.61
STATUS: Flat base. Volume has moved above average the past week as UPCS came off the bottom of its 24 week base. Accumulation in the pattern is an excellent 7 to 2, showing almost all buyers and setting up the breakout move. Relative strength has already broken out ahead of the stock, a very bullish move. Looking to pick up some positions on a solid volume move through the buy point.
Volume: 477.787K Avg Volume: 424K
BUY POINT: $4.72 Volume=600K Target=$5.89 Stop=$4.49

VLO (Valero Energy--$41.62; -0.11; optionable): Oil and gas refining and marketing
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/v/vlo.html
After Hours: $41.62
STATUS: Breakout test. VLO is just coming off its split, easing back to test the 10 day EMA (41.17) the past week, tapping that level Tuesday and then rebounding to show a tight doji. This move follows a short 9 week cup with handle base and breakout. Excellent money flow and a relative strength breakout. Looking to pick it up on a rebound form this test.
Volume: 3.054M Avg Volume: 4.91M
BUY POINT: $42.06 Volume=5.5M Target=$48.55 Stop=$41.05
POSITION: VLO AV - Jan. $42.50c (45 delta)

Continuing Play, new buy point:
Play Date: 10/07/2004
MSCC (Microsemi--$14.49; -0.56; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuit
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mscc.html
After Hours: $14.57
STATUS: Breakout test. MSCC broke out from a 28 week double bottom with handle to stat the month, surging to 16 on strong trade. It has since faded, falling through the 10 day EMA (14.81) down to the 18 day EMA (14.35) Tuesday. That is a full test, bringing MSCC back to the June high, the high in the left side of the base. Volume surged Tuesday as it tested this level. After a low volume pullback the volume surge as the stock held steady indicates it may be ready to make the rebound. Moved the buy point down to take advantage of the further test of the 18 day EMA.
Volume: 1.083M Avg Volume: 679.409K
BUY POINT: $15.25 Volume=1M Target=$19 Stop=$14.68
POSITION: QMS CC - Mar. $15c (60 delta) &/or Stock
