THE PLAYS
Good movers Thursday: GYI; MYGN; NXTL; RMBS; SNDA
Wednesday night play results:
CEDC: Held up well in the test, still looking solid on the test.
ISSC: Moved through the buy point late, but no volume.
QCOM: Volume jumped as it tested the 18 day EMA and rebounded. Looks ready.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 12/09/2004
CMVT (Comverse Technology--$23.49; +0.80; optionable): Telecom processing systems
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cmvt.html
After Hours: $23.45
STATUS: Breakout. CMVT broke out from an 11 month trading range in October, rallying up the short term MA (10 and 18 day EMA). After 4 to 5 such bounces it needs a rest. It took that rest the last three weeks of November, coming back to test the 50 day EMA (21.07). After the run up the short term MA on the breakout the 50 day EMA is the support level. CMVT found support there and is making the next breakout, moving on strong volume. Relative strength is breaking out as well, a very good corroboration of the move.
Volume: 4.202M Avg Volume: 2.73M
BUY POINT: $23.65 Volume=3.2M Target=$28 Stop=$22.05
POSITION: CQV DX - Apr. $22.50c (71 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 12/09/2004
LNUX (VA Software--$2.99; +0.23; no options): Business software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/l/lnux.html
After Hours: $3.10
STATUS: Test breakout. LNUX exploded off the 200 day SMA (2.26) Tuesday after a nice, low volume lateral move over that level after breaking through it the last week of November. This is part of a 15 month cup base, and it is coming off of the bottom of that base, starting to build the right side of the base. Money flow is surging higher ahead of price and volume is excellent. Way down in the base, but primed to make us some solid gain.
Volume: 1.44M Avg Volume: 455.59K
BUY POINT: $3.06 Volume=683K Target=$4.25 Stop=$2.95
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

Play Date: 12/09/2004
TRI (Triad Hospitals--$37; +0.71; optionable): Hospitals
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tri.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Volume is surging as TRI starts the breakout move from its 20 week base. This is the tail end of the 11 month base, and it is looking good with strong 5 to 1 accumulation. A nice handle with a low volume shakeout to start the month got rid of the rest of the sellers. Looking for volume to continue as it moves through the buy point, continuing the breakout move.
Volume: 1.21M Avg Volume: 622.636K
BUY POINT: $37.45 Volume=934K Target=$43.45 Stop=$35.95
POSITION: TRI BG - Feb. $35c (83 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.
BR, COH, EASI, EBAY, GTRC, HDWR, JNPR, MSFT, QCOM
QCOM: Volume was up as it tested the 18 day EMA and bounced. Looks ready.
MSFT: Still in that lateral move right below 27.50. A strong move through that level is the next entry point.
SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST
We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.
Upside:
INFY: Volume was up on the test of support at 65, showing a doji over that level. This move is testing a strong volume break higher to end November. May be ready to take back off again.
VIRL: Despite the trouble with semiconductors, VIRL is making a nice, low volume and orderly test of the 50 day EMA after a breakout and run higher up the short term MA. Excellent money flow. A strong volume surge looks like a good entry.
Good Investing!
