THE PLAYS
Good movers Wednesday: APCS; ATSN; CMTL; ISSC; KFY; NTAP; ROV; MNDO
Tuesday night play results:
LRW: Stalled the breakout move with some lower volume on Tuesday. Still solid.
OVNT: Looks ready to make the breakout move.
ORCH: Still working laterally on below average volume.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 12/15/2004
BRCD (Brocade Communications--$7.60; +0.34; optionable): Telecom equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/brcd.html
After Hours: $7.54
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Breaking out from a 9.5 month base, moving on very strong, above average volume Wednesday. Accumulation is a strong 11 to 5 (11 up price weeks on rising volume to 5 down price weeks on rising volume), setting up the foundation for the breakout as there were many more buyers than sellers during the consolidation. Strong money flow and relative strength is ready for a breakout, a good confirmation of the breakout move. It has been a long time since we played BRCD as a regular split play at a price in the $200 range; it has been a long time but this is a good base off the bottom of the long, long base.

DRTE (Dendrite Intl.--$18.78; +0.77; optionable): Application software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/drte.html
After Hours: $18.78
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Volume exploded higher Wednesday as DRTE started the breakout move from its 8 month accumulation pattern. Excellent 10 to 4 accumulation in the pattern shows a lot of buying during the base, setting up the breakout and run. Wednesday it started that move, following strong money flow higher. Solid resumption of buying after a very nice, low volume lateral move the past here weeks set up the break higher. Ready to take positions on a further move and then look to add positions at the first test.

MDRX (Allscripts Healthcare Sol.--$10.55; +0.52; optionable): Healthcare software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mdrx.html
After Hours: $10.62
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Another stock showing strong breakout volume Wednesday as MDRX broke out of its 8 month base. Strong 8 to 4 accumulation shows strong buying during the pattern, and buyers are back at it given the strong volume on the breakout. Nice break higher, and ready to move to a multiyear high. Very nice, well-formed pattern and a solid breakout. Looking to take positions on a further solid move and then on the successful test of the breakout.

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.
BR, COH, EASI, EBAY, GTRC, HDWR, JNPR, MSFT, QCOM
EBAY: Starting the breakout from the three week lateral consolidation. Volume was up but still well below average. Would like to see stronger trade.
JNPR: Trying to make the bounce off the 50 day EMA but volume fell back below average.
MSFT: Still working laterally in the tight range between 27 and 27.50. Volume jumped the past two sessions. Getting ready.
SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST
We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.
Upside:
IPG: Working on the right side of its 11 month base. It has rallied up to the 200 day SMA. Volume has improved the past couple of weeks, but it has not really surged as it has started the break higher. Need to see it clear the 200 day SMA, test that move, then move up from there on stronger volume.
ALTI: Testing a strong move Monday as the stock surged higher in its handle. It moved up to the breakout point from its 11 month cup with handle base. It was unable to make the breakout on this attempt, but it is trying to hold the 10 day EMA, make a higher low and then try the breakout once more. Strong money flow.
