2) GOOG: Setting up for the next break higher.
3) ACPW: Volume rallying as the stock moves to the breakout.
4) IDXC: Volume is up as it tests the 50 day EMA, showing a nice doji.
5) COHR: Looks ready again after that slight pause.
6) AVID: Ready to move higher after a strong volume session to end the week.

NEW PLAYS:

Upside:

Play Date: 12/18/2004
AMMD (American Medical Systems--$40.27; +1.15; optionable): Medical appliances
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/ammd.html
After Hours: $40.43
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Volume exploded Friday as AMMD shot off the 18 December 2004 (38.87), hitting 41.29 on the high. It could not hold the entire move, backing off to close just over the highs in the 6 week base sporting strong 3 to 0 accumulation (3 up price weeks on rising volume to 0 down price weeks on rising volume), showing solid buying during this consolidation. It used the 50 day EMA (37.42) on the two lows in the pattern, a very good indication of big money support for the stock. Still ready for the big breakout.
Volume: 893.429K Avg Volume: 309.09K
BUY POINT: $40.55 Volume=450K Target=$48 Stop=$38.65
POSITION: FGU EH - May $40c (58 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 12/18/2004
CRGN (Curagen--$7.28; -0.07; optionable): Genomic-based pharmaceutical development
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/crgn.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Forming a 3 week handle to its 11 month base, the second pattern to form off of the bottom of its long correction. Accumulation in the base is positive and money flow is surging higher even as the stock moves laterally. This money flow positive divergence is a good sign for a breakout. Looking for strong volume to return as it moves through the buy point.
Volume: 247.271K Avg Volume: 361.48K
BUY POINT: $7.78 Volume=542K Target=$9.45 Stop=$7.22
POSITION: CQX DU - Apr. $7.50c (49 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 12/18/2004
GOOG (Google--$180.08; +3.61; optionable): Internet search, etc.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/goog.html
After Hours: $180.02
STATUS: Pennant. GOOG is moving laterally in its first base, an 8 week job at this juncture. Volume backed off in late November and early December, showing more trade this past week as it moved off some support at 170, stepping higher in the pattern as it gets ready for the next leg. It could spend a lot more time forming a full cup base, but this volume suggests that the stock may be ready to make its next move higher. At this level we are looking at options and will let the play run as long as it will; $210 is just the initial target. Hearing some good information about a split coming.
Volume: 7.418M Avg Volume: 10.743M
BUY POINT: $181.25 Volume=12M Target=$210 Stop=$175
POSITION: GOU CP - Mar. $180c (55 delta)

Play Date: 12/18/2004
KOOL (Thermogenesis--$6.19; +0.19; no options): Blood processing systems
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/k/kool.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Very low, below average volume as KOOL holds the 18 December 2004 (6.01), putting the finishing touches on the handle to its 11 month base. Excellent 13 to 6 accumulation shows plenty of buying during the base, setting the foundation for the breakout. Strong money flow as well, leading higher ahead of price as the stock works laterally the past three weeks to form the handle. A breakout takes it to a new all-time high where there is open space to run as opposed to PO'd shareholders ready to jettison it.
Volume: 187.205K Avg Volume: 233.453K
BUY POINT: $6.54 Volume=350K Target=$7.89 Stop=$6.15
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

CONTINUING PLAYS:

Not yet entered:

Play Date: 12/06/2004
ACPW (Active Power--$4.75; +0.2; no options): Electric power producing devices
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/acpw.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Volume was up again Friday, and this time ACPW made the move stick, closing at the session high. It crossed the buy point on the close, but it was not running hard when it made the move. We are ready to step in this week if it continues the break higher. Excellent money flow and accumulation.
Volume: 181.328K Avg Volume: 144.59K
BUY POINT: New: $4.78 (orig. $4.72) Volume=207K Target=$6.15 Stop=$4.55
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/acpw.html

Play Date: 12/15/2004
COHR (Coherent--$31.83; +0.40; optionable): Scientific & technical instruments
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cohr.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle breakout. After the lower volume breather Thursday, COHR was up Friday on some better trade though still below average. It made the breakout Wednesday on solid trade, and has held up as the market sold to end the week. That puts it in very good position to continue the break higher this week. Nice 11 month base sporting excellent 12 to 6 accumulation and strong money flow pointing the way higher. Looking to pick up positions on a further break higher and then again on a successful test.
Volume: 136.633K Avg Volume: 150.045K
BUY POINT: $32.42 Volume=200K Target=$39 Stop=$30.72
POSITION: HRQ EF - May $30c (70 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/cohr.html

Play Date: 12/15/2004
CSTR (Coinstar--$25.80; -0.03; optionable): Automated coin counting machines
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cstr.html
After Hours: $25.81
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. CSTR continues to move laterally above the 50 day EMA (25.50), testing the explosive breakout to end October. The current 6 week lateral move above the 50 day is part of a much larger 3 year base, but CSTR looks ready for a strong upside move to take it toward a new all-time high at 35. Solid 2 to 0 accumulation in the easy pullback shows buyers are still picking up the stock. Money flow, already strong, has shot higher even as the stock has moved laterally and lower. Looking for a break over the recent highs on strong volume to move into the stock.
Volume: 224.396K Avg Volume: 331.045K
BUY POINT: $26.88 Volume=350K Target=$32.25 Stop=$25.65
POSITION: QLR DE - Apr. $25c (67 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/cstr.html

Play Date: 11/22/2004
GENZ (Genzyme--$56.19; +0.60; optionable): Biotechnology
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/genz.html
After Hours: $56.19
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Volume surged Friday, breaking well above average as GENZ continues on the doorstep of the breakout from its 11 month base. Solid money flow is moving higher ahead of the stock price, a positive divergence. Very nice base and it has taken its time to prepare for the breakout. That solid volume Friday suggests the breakout is coming.
Volume: 3.283M Avg Volume: 2.21M
BUY POINT: $56.88 Volume=3.2M Target=$63 Stop=$55.25
POSITION: GZQ DK - Apr. $55c (67 delta)
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/genz.html

Play Date: 12/01/2004
IDXC (IDX Systems--$35.01; 0; optionable): Healthcare software
After Hours: $34.83
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/idxc.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Volume was up Friday as IDXC showed a nice tight doji with tail right over the 50 day EMA (34.41) and rebounded to the close. Excellent handle to its 9 month double bottom with handle base sporting strong 11 to 4 accumulation and strong money flow leading higher even as the stock moves laterally and lower. A very good positive divergence to go along with the accumulation. Just being patient and waiting for the breakout.
Volume: 202.645K Avg Volume: 103.79K
BUY POINT: $36.35 Volume=130K Target=$42 Stop=$34.77
POSITION: XQW BG - Feb. $35c (62 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/idxc.html

Play Date: 12/16/2004
VNWK (Visual Networks--$3.73; +0.03; no options): Business software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/v/vnwk.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. A bit wild Friday, but ended well, holding the handle to its 9.5 month base sporting solid 10 to 7 accumulation. Net buyers in the base has set up the breakout. Again, it is nowhere near an all-time high, but the passage of time has eliminated a lot of that overhead supply along with solid bases such as the current one. Waiting for that volume surge as it makes the breakout move.
Volume: 166.675K Avg Volume: 134.873K
BUY POINT: $3.95 Volume=202K Target=$4.88 Stop=$3.67
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/vnwk.html

New Buy Points on Current Plays:

Play Date: 11/08/2004
AVID (Avid Technology--$59.99; +0.57; optionable): Electronic equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/avid.html
After Hours: $59.95
STATUS: Flying plateau. AVID has worked laterally below 60 the past three weeks, making the third test of the short term MA (10 and 18 December 2004) after the late October breakout from a nice 16 week cup with handle base. Volume surged Friday as AVID tested the resistance at 60. Strong stocks make 4 to 5 bounces up off the short term moving averages after a breakout before they need a deeper test toward the 50 day EMA. A good place to take some additional positions from a stock that can move well when it starts the bounce.
Volume: 783.867K Avg Volume: 560.506K
BUY POINT: New: $60.25 (orig. positions: $55.55) Volume=800K Target=$68.55 Stop=$57.96
POSITION: AQI CL - Mar. $60c (49 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ct/avid.html

Play Date: 11/16/2004
DUSA (Dusa Pharma--$13.73; +0.34; optionable): Drugs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dusa.html
STATUS: Breakout test. DUSA was under pressure early Friday with all of the drug stocks, gapping lower but recovering on volume to post a nice gain. A nice 9 month double bottom with handle base that broke out in late November, and this pullback the past week was on mostly lower volume. Nice test and set up well for the next break higher. Excellent money flow leading higher ahead of price. Looking for the stock to follow it.
Volume: 287.313K Avg Volume: 130.5K
BUY POINT: New positions: $13.95 (orig. positions: $12.88) Volume=208K Target=$16.55 Stop=$13.38
POSITION: FDU DV - Apr. $12.50c (54 delta) &/or Stock
