THE PLAYS
Good movers Wednesday: CVNS; EBAY; FSL; MNDO; MUSA; NFLD; RMBS; XXIA (bonus)
Tuesday night play results:
MACR: Volume fell back as it tried new high territory but faded back.
MUSA: Gapped higher, tested, and then rallied back on strong volume.
TV: Stalled out after the solid Tuesday move, but still looks good.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 12/29/2004
DADE (Dade Behring Holdings--$55.90; -0.48; optionable): Diagnostic substances
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dade.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Nice two week handle has formed to the 14 week cup base. DADE broke out from a similar base in July and rallied to 58 in mid-September. It then formed the current base sporting solid 5 to 3 accumulation (5 up price weeks on rising volume to 3 down price weeks on rising volume. A nice pullback to the 18 day EMA (55.54) as support for the handle and on very low, below average volume. This is the final shakeout before the breakout move to an all-time high.
Volume: 106.029K Avg Volume: 339.727K
BUY POINT: $57.55 Volume=500K Target=$57.45 Stop=$55.68
POSITION: JDQ EK - May $55c (61 delta) &/or Stock

FAST (Fastenal Company--$61.58; -1.02; optionable): Fasteners
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/fast.html
After Hours: $61.70
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Nice 20 week base has set up using the 200 day SMA (56.99) as support for the 'head' of the pattern with the stock bottoming at that level on the lows of the base. Accumulation is excellent at 9 to 4, showing net buyers and setting up the eventual breakout. A breakout will take it to a new all-time high. Not really sexy, but it is a leader, and the continued steady gains are sexy to an investor.
Volume: 425.06K Avg Volume: 671.09K
BUY POINT: $64.25 Volume=1M Target=$74.95 Stop=$62.15
POSITION: FQA EM - May $65c (35 delta) &/or Stock

LCAV (LCA-Vision--$23.66; +0.75; optionable): Laser vision correction centers (LasikPlus)
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/l/lcav.html
STATUS: Flying plateau. After the late October breakout and subsequent run to 24, LCAV has slipped into the current 5 week flat, lateral move above the 18 day EMA (22.60), holding the gains on the run. The lack of a deeper test shows a lot of strength as it refuses to give up its gains. Wednesday LCAV jumped off the 18 day EMA on rising though still well below average volume. Solid 8 to 5 accumulation (8 up price weeks on rising volume to 5 down price weeks on rising volume) shows net buying during the prior base and led to the breakout and run. The strength on the lateral move shows those buyers are still hanging onto their positions. Looking for a bit more volume as it makes the move through the buy point.
Volume: 240.143K Avg Volume: 399.045K
BUY POINT: $24.15 Volume=400K Target=$28.98 Stop=$23.05
POSITION: JVI CX - Mar. $23.38c (57 delta) &/or Stock

New buy point on a continuing play.
Play Date: 12/13/2004
MNDO (Mind CT Ltd.--$5.82; +0.31; no options): IT software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mndo.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Volume surged Wednesday as MNDO rallied close to a breakout from the handle of its 12 month base. Excellent money flow is leading the way higher. Outstanding 15 to 2 accumulation in the base shows almost all buyers as the stock consolidated. Ready for the next move.
Volume: 511.529K Avg Volume: 140.454K
BUY POINT: New: $5.95 (orig. positions: $5.48) Volume=366K Target=$7.68 Stop=$5.32
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.
BR, COH, EASI, EBAY, GTRC, HDWR, JNPR, MSFT, QCOM
HDWR: May be the last test of the 50 day EMA here. It is not folding up, but it is not looking strong.
SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST
We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.
Upside:
CSAR: Working laterally the past four weeks, forming a rather extended handle to a 16 week double bottom with handle pattern. Not bad at all.
LYO: A very strong run from August to early December. It sold back hard to start the month, but a nice recovery right up to the early December high. A bit tired here but refusing to give up the gains as it consolidates.
Good Investing!
