THE PLAYS
Good movers Thursday: FARO; PLCE; STN; TYC; ENER; QCOM;
Wednesday night play results:
ASTM: Nice volume break higher.
ISON: Holding steady on lower volume.
TKO: Held steady, still ready for the breakout.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 01/06/2005
JKHY (Jack Henry & Assoc.--$21.04; +0.75; optionable): Business software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/j/jkhy.html
After Hours: $21.30
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Volume has surged this month but JKHY has not been selling but has been moving to a breakout from its 13 month base. Accumulation in the base is a strong 13 to 8 (13 up price weeks on rising volume to 8 down price weeks on rising volume), showing net buyers. Strong money flow is leading the way higher as volume races higher as well. Looking to move in a further solid volume run. Very nice base to consolidate a strong 2003 run. Ready to start the next long move.
Volume: 1.171M Avg Volume: 314.5K
BUY POINT: $21.32 Volume=450K Target=$25.65 Stop=$20.05
POSITION: JKQ FD - June $20c (80 delta) &/or Stock

KERX (Keryx Biopharmaceuticals--$13.92; -0.26; optionable): Drugs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/k/kerx.html
After Hours: $14.14
STATUS: Cup. Volume has jumped the past two sessions, but not on selling. KERX is rallying hard off the recent lows, clearing recent resistance in the November to January range. This is part of its build up the right side of a 8 month base sporting solid 9 to 6 accumulation (9 up price weeks on rising volume to 6 down price weeks on rising volume). That means net buyers already in the base; it will only get better as it rallies further. Super money flow is leading the way higher, and we are willing to take positions here as it can give us a great gain just by completing the base and not even breaking out.
Volume: 1.246M Avg Volume: 309.5K
BUY POINT: $14.72 Volume=464K Target=$18 Stop=$13.72
POSITION: QKY FC - June $15c (48 delta) &/or Stock

UNFI (United Natural Foods--$30.30; +1.05; optionable): Wholesale natural foods
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/u/unfi.html
After Hours: $30.32
STATUS: Breakout test. Surged in late December on the renewal of its distribution deal with WFMI. That broke the stock out of a 7 month cup with handle base of sorts, the base sporting strong 9 to 5 accumulation. It tested the move this month as the market sold, but the volume was much lower and below average. Thursday it surged on a resumption of strong, above average trade. Excellent money flow as well is moving well ahead of price. Looking to pick up shares on a further move.
Volume: 499.83K Avg Volume: 302.545K
BUY POINT: $30.62 Volume=454K Target=$36 Stop=$29.18
POSITION: EYO EF - May $30c (58 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.
BR, COH, EASI, EBAY, GTRC, HDWR, JNPR, MSFT, QCOM
EBAY: Sliced through the 50 day EMA on strong volume. Danger if it does not recovery rapidly.
GTRC: Wow.
QCOM: Moving off the 50 day EMA on slightly better volume.
SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST
We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.
Upside:
AMT: Decent 8 week lateral move above the 50 day EMA, consolidating a breakout and run higher into early November.
TAYD: Exploded from two years of nothing in late December and is now testing the move on lower volume, fading to the 10 day EMA to set up the next breakout.
