Monday night play results:
AVID: Nice volume break higher.
HTCH: Held steady on lower trade. Still looks great.

RPM: Rebounded up to test the 50 day EMA once again.

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 02/01/2005
ARB (Arbitron--$41.08; +0.18; optionable): Ratings services for radio, television, etc.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/arb.html
STATUS: Flat. ARB exploded higher 6 sessions back on a very strong Q4, clearing resistance in the midrange of a 5.5 month flat base that is part of a larger 12 month cup with handle base. It has moved laterally since, holding the gain on lower volume, setting up for the next move in the base. Accumulation in the base is a strong 7 to 3 (7 up price weeks on rising volume to 3 down price weeks on rising volume), showing net buying and setting up the breakout move. Excellent money flow is ready to lead ARB higher on the next leg. Just waiting for volume to rally back up as it moves through they buy point.

BUY POINT: $41.38 Volume=292K Target=$46.75 Stop=$39.77

Play Date: 02/01/2005
EFX (Equifax--$28.81; +0.51; optionable): Credit, financial, demographic, and marketing information. Forecast to announce a split 2-3-05 before the open.
BACKGROUND: Last split 2:1 on 12-18-95 at $22.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/efx.html
STATUS: Breakout test. EFX broke out from a 7 month cup with handle base in November, rallied a bit, then formed the current 9 week more or less lateral move above the 50 day EMA (27.70). During the base accumulation was excellent at 13 to 5, showing a lot of ongoing accumulation as it based. Excellent money flow is leading higher. Relative strength is ready for the breakout, a good corroboration of the breakout move that looks to be underway. Strong volume Tuesday as EFX moved toward the breakout. Ready to move in on a continued strong move.

Play Date: 02/01/2005
NVDA (Nvidia--$23.35; +0.43; optionable): Game semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nvda.html
After Hours: $24.65
STATUS: Cup w/handle. After hours NVDA blasted higher on very strong earnings results. The move will take it out of the 7 week handle to the 10 month base. Excellent 14 to 6 accumulation in the base shows solid accumulation as investors accumulated shares during the base. It is going to gap higher in the morning. We will look for the first pullback to start some positions on this move and then look at positions later on its first test.

Play Date: 02/01/2005
OSI (Outback Steakhouse--$46.30; +0.25; optionable): Bloomin' onions, steaks; just down the road or whatever the jingle is. Forecast to announce a split 2-16-05 before the open.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 3:2 split on 2-1-99 at $45. Before that it was a frequent splitter.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/osi.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. A long time coming, but OSI is finally back to the price that it last announced a split. It has formed a nice pattern to boot, a 10 month base sporting solid 11 to 8 accumulation. It gapped up sharply 4 sessions back on very strong volume on news of its comp sales and a dividend. Since it has moved laterally on lower, below average volume. Good move as it holds the gains, refusing to sell back. Nice pattern and ready to break higher. Just want to see the volume jump back up as it continues the move. Might take earnings and an announcement to do it, but looks solid.
Volume: 464.9K Avg Volume: 576.545K
BUY POINT: $47.05 Volume=625K Target=$53 Stop=$45.22
POSITION: OSI EI - May $45c (71 delta) &/or Stock
