VPI: Continued the move on solid though lower trade.

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 02/12/2005
AIRT (Air T, Inc.--$20.77; +1.47; no options): Air delivery and freight
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/airt.html
After Hours: $20.80
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. AIRT can run like the wind. A nice breakout and run to end the year required a consolidation. It sold hard and fell below the 200 day SMA (16.39); not the greatest action, but volume was very, very low as it did. It has started to recover and build the right side of its base, first moving back through the 200 day and now the 50 day EMA (17.83). It made the move through that resistance Monday and then came back to test it. Friday it found its feet and jumped off the 50 day EMA on once again strong volume. Money flow is flying higher ahead of price, and it looks as if AIRT is ready to follow it once more.

Play Date: 02/12/2005
ARTC (Arthrocare--$32; +0.55; optionable): Medical appliances
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/artc.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. ARTC has formed a short 7 week base sporting solid 3 to 1 accumulation (3 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price weeks on rising volume). This base formed right below a multiyear high, and a breakout takes it past any near resistance. Friday volume was higher, moving toward average. Looking for an above average volume as ARTC moves through the buy point for the breakout. Good pattern, good sector.

BZH (Beazer Homes--$162.32; -3.01; optionable): Residential construction. Splits 3:1 on 3-21-05
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bzh.html
STATUS: Test 10 day EMA. BZH rallied sharply to start February, and as a victim of its own success it was downgraded Friday. That gapped it down to the 10 day EMA (159.86) on the open, but it fought back and cut the loss in half. We are looking for it to recapture its momentum ahead of the split.
Volume: 1.154M Avg Volume: 590.954K
BUY POINT: $162.88 Volume=886K Target=$173 Stop=$159.75
POSITION: BZH CL - Mar. $160c (63 delta)

Play Date: 02/12/2005
MDRX (Allscripts Healthcare Sol.--$11.67; +0.36; optionable): Software and information systems for physicians
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mdrx.html
After Hours: $11.62
STATUS: Breakout test. MDRX just broke to a new multiyear high this month as it broke out from a 10 month cup with handle base. Very nice base with excellent 11 to 5 accumulation (11 up price weeks on rising volume to 5 down price weeks on rising volume) shows net buyers and sets up the breakout run. It rallied up to 12 on the initial move, and on this test it has held the 10 day EMA (11.14), moving laterally the past week above that level on lower volume. Friday that volume jumped as MDRX did the same off the 10 day EMA. Relative strength made the breakout as well and is ready to do so again, a good corroboration of the breakout.
Volume: 676.807K Avg Volume: 306K
BUY POINT: $11.85 Volume=459K Target=$14.75 Stop=$11.05
POSITION: MXQ FB - June $10c (78 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 02/12/2005
MRVL (Marvell Technology--$36.22; +1.69; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuits
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mrvl.html
After Hours: $36.10
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. MRVL split in late June, formed a base, and then broke out and rallied from 26 to 36 into the end of the year. It needed a breather and it has done that, forming the same pattern the past 8 weeks it formed in July and August before that last run. Volume surged Friday as MRVL jumped off the 18 day EMA (34.13) on very strong trade. Money flow is quite strong and relative strength made the breakout. Looks solid. Unlike the semiconductors overall, MRVL is ready for a new high, not just recovering from the bottom of the barrel.
Volume: 9.95M Avg Volume: 3.825M
BUY POINT: $36.45 Volume=4.5M Target=$42 Stop=$34.11
POSITION: UVM EG - May $35c (64 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ci/mrvl.html

Play Date: 02/12/2005
NTAP (Network Appliance--$32.54; +1.75; optionable): Data storage devices
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/ntap.html
After Hours: $32.52
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. NTAP broke out from an 11 month base in November, gapping higher when it reported strong earnings. It rallied on into mid-December near 35 and then slipped into the current 10 week base that has used the 50 day EMA (31.04) the past 4 weeks as support. Volume was very low as it worked laterally along that key support, and then Friday it jumped up to average as the stock jumped off the 50 day. Strong money flow is leading. Looking to start a position as NTAP continues this move and then again as it makes a breakout, preferably after a handle forms near 34.
Volume: 5.667M Avg Volume: 5.318M
BUY POINT: $32.88 Volume=8M Target=$39 Stop=$31.45
POSITION: NUL FF - June $30c (76 delta) &/or Stock
