THE PLAYS
Good movers Monday: FFIV; FLIR; PRFT; SMH; STK; TSRA (bonus); URBN
Weekend play results:
ENER: Volume was up as it moves toward the breakout.
GOLD: Holding the 10 day EMA.
VTIV: Still holding near the breakout on below average volume.
SEAC: Tried to break through the 18 day EMA on continued above average volume but closed right at the 18 day.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 03/07/2005
HOLX (Hologic--$37.40; 0.00; optionable): Medical appliances
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/h/holx.html
After Hours: $37.17
STATUS: Flying plateau. HOLX exploded higher in late January on a very strong earnings report. It rallied to 38 and stalled out. It did not tank but instead moved laterally the past 5 weeks on mostly lower volume. Some nice volume spikes along the way show some strong buying. Strong money flow and relative strength show the stock's strength. The range has tightened and we are looking for volume to jump as it makes the break higher from this range.
Volume: 212.319K Avg Volume: 261.318K
BUY POINT: $38.48 Volume=392K Target=$45 Stop=$36.84
POSITION: QHX FG - June $35c (71 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 03/07/2005
FCEL (Fuelcell Energy--$11.19; -0.19; optionable): Fuel cell power plants for electric power generation.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/fcel.html
After Hours: $11.19
STATUS: Cup w/handle. FCEL is forming its first base off of the bottom of its correction, a 4.5 month pattern. It broke over the 200 day SMA (10.44) in mid-February, forming the right side of the pattern. After a volume move higher to star the month it has edged lower on low, below average volume, forming something of a handle. Solid 5 to 2 accumulation in the pattern (5 up price weeks on rising volume to 2 down price weeks on rising volume) shows net buying during the consolidation. Money flow is outstanding, shooting higher ahead of price. Looking for volume to surge back up after this little pullback.
Volume: 713.257K Avg Volume: 1.071M
BUY POINT: $11.77 Volume=1.6M Target=$14 Stop=$11.44
POSITION: FQG GB - July $10c (74 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 03/07/2005
WHT (Wheaton River Minerals--$3.53; -0.02; no options): Gold mining
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/w/wht.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. A neat base on base pattern has formed the past 11 months, the first a 7 month double bottom with handle was followed by the current 3.5 month cup with handle. Excellent 6 to 2 accumulation shows solid buying as it based. The base on base pattern really works to weed out the sellers and set the stage for a good run. This last pattern formed along the 50 day EMA (3.31), a very important institutional support level where the big money steps in to support the stock. Money flow is strong and moving higher ahead of the price. Looking for a good volume surge on a continued move higher to enter the position as it breaks toward a new high.
Volume: 888.6K Avg Volume: 3.274M
BUY POINT: $3.67 Volume=4.9M Target=$4.58 Stop=$3.41
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.
BR, COH, EASI, GTRC, HDWR, MSTR, STN, TSRA, UPL
HDWR: Volume was up as it makes the next breakout.
MSTR: Holding the 18 day EMA with a tight doji on low, below average volume. Getting ready, but keeping us waiting.
TSRA: Shot higher on great volume and we issued an alert on it.
SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST
We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.
Upside:
AVID: Working laterally the past three weeks, holding above the 18 day EMA on low volume. It is seeing up for the next move higher. It broke out of a 14 month base in November, came back to test the 50 day EMA in January with a double bottom, and is now preparing for the next leg higher in this flat lateral move.
