THE PLAYS
Good movers: BLL; EMR; ETN; QLGC
Monday night play results:
EW: Tried to continue the move but took a day off on lower volume.
SIVB: Still in the nice breakout test.
PEP: Good volume continues but could not deliver the strong move.
QLGC: Heading lower as well on some rising volume.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 04/26/2005
ENER (Energy Conversion Devices--$23; +1.36; optionable): Alternative energy
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/ener.html
After Hours: $23.10
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. Volume shot higher Tuesday as ENER jumped off the 50 day EMA (21.47) on no real news. A strong break higher in early April out of a 16 week cup with handle fell apart in the selling a couple of weeks back but it held just below the 50 day and is not moving higher. Looking to step in again on a further move higher as it follows the money flow that has picked back up.
Volume: 1.185M Avg Volume: 462K
BUY POINT: $23.25 Volume=500K Target=$27 Stop=$21.98
POSITION: EQI IX - Sept. $22.50c (60 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 04/26/2005
STN (Station Casinos--$68.25; +2.70; optionable): Resorts and casinos
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/stn.html
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. Bounced higher off the 50 day EMA (64.96) Tuesday, riding the strong BYD earnings higher. Good above average volume surge on the move as it started higher after a 6 week pullback to test the mid-March break higher. This pullback has fully tested that move, setting up the next bounce. STN held solid during the selling, though it did show some strong volume as it broke below the 50 day EMA for a session last week. Strong money flow has turned higher ahead of the stock and relative strength broke out as well, both strong indications the stock is going to continue higher.
Volume: 982.4K Avg Volume: 547.09K
BUY POINT: $68.75 Volume=800K Target=$75 Stop=$66.38
POSITION: STN GM - July $65c (76 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 04/26/2005
SYD (Sybron Dental--$36.74; -0.43; optionable): Medical instruments
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/syd.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Reported solid results after hours and looks as if it is going to try and trade higher Wednesday. Good volume Tuesday as SYD tested the 18 day EMA (36.63) in the handle of its 12 week base. Formed the base over the 50 day EMA (36.23). Strong money flow is leading higher.
Volume: 338.4K Avg Volume: 214.454K
BUY POINT: $37.86 Volume=322K Target=$42.88 Stop=$36.55
POSITION: SYD JG - Oct. $35c (63 delta) &/or Stock

Downside:
Play Date: 04/26/2005
IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances--$39.45; 0.00; optionable): Flavor and fragrances used by others for their products
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/iff.html
STATUS: Put. IFF broke below the 200 day SMA (39.71) 8 sessions back on strong trade. It has rebounded the past week, moving up to tap the 200 day on the Tuesday high and then fading back to close flat as volume rallied. That shows some churning below a key level. Looking for IFF to churn lower on continued strong trade. A move down to the target lands us a 45%ish gain.
Volume: 499.5K Avg Volume: 288.636K
BUY POINT: $39.34 Volume=325K Target=$38 Stop=$39.74
POSITION: IFF RH - June $40p (-59 delta)

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.
AAPL, BLUD, BR, COH, HW, STN, TSRA
Roughed up to say the least. Need some new suggestions to rebuild the group.
STN: Is making the move off the 50 day EMA, helped by the BYD earnings.
BLUD: Continues the lateral move with some super accumulation. Being patient and waiting for the breakout move.
COH: Reported strong sales and gapped up through the 50 day EMA on strong volume. Impressive recovery.
SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST
We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.
Upside:
BBH: Biotech holders trust. Gapped higher on the new DNA news. It closed lower in the days range but a solid break higher.
Downside:
DST: A software company that tried to move back through the 200 day SMA Monday, but then gapped lower and sold hard on rising trade Tuesday.
