THE PLAYS
Good movers: CI; DNA; GTIV; UNH
New Post-Split Plays:
Play Date: 05/03/2005
RCI (Renal Care Group--$39.30; -0.25; optionable): Specialized health services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rci.html
STATUS: Ascending base. Strong volume is moving RCI toward the breakout from its 12 week base. Solid 5 to 3 accumulation (5 up price weeks on rising volume to 3 down price weeks on rising volume) has set up the breakout move. Formed around the 50 day EMA (37.88), an important institutional support point. Good relative strength breakout and strong money flow.
Volume: 396.6K Avg Volume: 255.272K
BUY POINT: $40.05 Volume=383K Target=$45.94 Stop=$38.37
POSITION: RCI HH - Aug. $40c (47 delta) &/or Stock

POOL (SCP Pool--$32.91; +0.16; optionable): Wholesale swimming pool supplies
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pool.html
After Hours: $32.82
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Nice 9 week base has formed using the 200 day SMA (30.30) as support a key institutional support level. Looks solid in the current week long handle that is holding the 50 day EMA (32.22), another key level. Strong money flow is leading higher, and excellent 4 to 1 accumulation (4 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price weeks on rising volume) has set up the breakout. Just need to see the strong volume break higher to move into positions.
Volume: 342.925K Avg Volume: 256.727K
BUY POINT: $33.85 Volume=385K Target=$38.95 Stop=$32.39

TALX (Talx Corp.--$25.13; -0.31; optionable): Automated employment and income verification, etc.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/talx.html
After Hours: $25.12
STATUS: Breakout test. TALX exploded off of a short double bottom at the 200 day SMA (18.46) in mid-April. It formed a handle of sorts and then jumped higher again at the end of the month. It has come back to test the past week and one-half, pulling back to the handle on very low, below average volume during all of the high volume market gyrations. Like that it is minding its own business. Strong 3 to 1 accumulation in the base shows plenty of support, and money flow is still leading higher ahead of the stock. Looking for volume to return as TALX turns back up and continues the breakout move.
Volume: 95.484K Avg Volume: 153.909K
BUY POINT: $25.72 Volume=231K Target=$30 Stop=$23.92
POSITION: TUB IE - Sept. $25c (58 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 05/03/2005
FMC (FMC Corp.--$50.69; +1.26; optionable): Chemicals
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/fmc.html
STATUS: Double bottom. Volume surged Tuesday as FMC announced strong results the broke it over the 'hump' in its 5 week double bottom base. The pattern formed using the 200 day SMA (47.42) as the support for its two legs. Solid 2 to 1 accumulation in the pattern shows net buying; money flow is surging higher ahead of price, paving the way. Looking for a move over the 50 day SMA (50.96) on continues solid volume to move into positions.
Volume: 703.4K Avg Volume: 275.363K

Full Write-ups: We do not cover all candidates in full in each report, but focus on those ready to make a move or are right at their forecast announcement date. This way we are focused on those stocks ready to make moves.
New Pre-Announcement Plays: These are in the right sectors for the current market.
Play Date: 05/03/2005
GYI (Getty Images--$72.12; -0.18; optionable): Visual content provider. Researching to pinpoint the date; announced earnings in mid-April.
BACKGROUND: No splits in Getty's history, but at a favored split level after the 2000 crash.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gyi.html
STATUS: Double bottom. In the process of forming a second leg to its 4 week base. Up and down off the 50 day EMA (72.11) this month; sharp ups and downs are the hallmark of a double bottom as it is a 'scare them out' base. A leader ready for a new high after this base. Accumulation is a solid 2 to 1 (2 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price weeks on rising volume), setting up the rebound. Volume exploded higher Tuesday as GYI showed a tight doji on the 50 day. Money flow is surging higher, leading the way and we expect GYI is going to follow.
Volume: 1.236M Avg Volume: 413.181K

CHTT (Chattem--$41.7; +0.28; optionable): Brand name consumer goods. Researching to pinpoint an exact date.
BACKGROUND: Last split 2:1 on 6-16-05 at $42.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/chtt.html
After Hours: $41.7
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA (40.53). Volume jumped back above average Tuesday as CHTT rallied above the 10 day EMA (41.64) but could not hold the move into the close. Looks strong with money flow leading higher. To recap: A good mover, CHTT broke out in late March and rallied to 46. It has since tested the move, pulling back on lower volume. Looking for it give us a strong move above the 18 day EMA (41.80) on above average volume to move into new positions. A leader, and a move over 46 takes it to another new all-time high.
Volume: 257.289K Avg Volume: 216.683K
BUY POINT: $42.62 Volume=300K Target=$48.89 Stop=$41.35

http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cnmd.html
After Hours: $30.59
STATUS: 50 day EMA test (29.97). Strong volume Monday as CNMD rallied through the 50 day EMA. CNMD it tried to continue the move, peaking out at 31.07 before fading into the close as volume faded. Still looks super and want to see the volume return as it continues higher.
Volume: 200.902K Avg Volume: 220.823K
BUY POINT: $30.68 Volume=300K Target=$34.98 Stop=$29.79

DGX (Quest Diagnostics--$105.75; -0.08; optionable): Medical labs. Researching the next split date.
BACKGROUND. Announced a 2:1 split on 2-22-01 at a price of $101.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dgx.html
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Volume shot higher Tuesday as DGX held above the 10 day EMA (105.02) on the low. Very nice and just waiting for the breakout move. To recap: A short 5 week base has formed, using the 50 day EMA (102.33) as support for the 'head.' It made a higher low this past week at the 18 day EMA (104.55). Money flow is leading higher and relative strength is breaking out. Looking to move in as it continues the move.

BACKGROUND: Last announced a 3:2 split on 5-22-03 at $48.40.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/ryn.html
STATUS: Flat base. Eased back Tuesday on low volume, holding near support at the 18 day EMA. After the stronger Friday move it is taking a rest to start the week, but this will reset the stock for a move higher. To recap: After breaking out of a 9 week cup base in early March, RYN has worked laterally for 7 weeks as the market went through its ups and downs (mostly downs). During the last two weeks it has tested and held its 50 day EMA (48.94) on the lows. It is moving off the 50 day EMA, but still needs to show some volume as it makes the move higher.
Volume: 163.8K Avg Volume: 340.167K
BUY POINT: $50.55 Volume=455K Target=$56 Stop=$49.32
POSITION: RYN HJ - Aug. $50c (62 delta)

http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/resp.html
After Hours: $63.76
STATUS: Breakout test. Still in the nice test of the break higher, showing a nice doji Tuesday over the 10 day EMA (63.08). Just being patient and letting it start its next move higher. Looks solid. To recap: RESP broke higher two weeks back, making the break from a 12 week flat base. It rallied to 65 on the move and is now making a modest test. It held the 10 day EMA on the most recent test, a sign of good strength as that is the closest support. Volume was above average and a bit higher Monday as it made the test and rebounded. Looking to move in on a further upside move on decent trade. Using options to leverage our gain.

Current play looking nice:
Play Date: 04/23/2005
HSY (Hershey Foods--$64.07; +0.36; optionable): Kisses, almond bars, etc.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/h/hsy.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Still working laterally, forming that nice handle above the 10 day EMA (63.18). Volume was lower, so just being patient to let it finish the handle and show us the volume breakout. To recap: HSY is forming a very nice handle to its 8 week base that formed using the 50 day EMA (61.41) as support. Nice lateral move in a tight range this week has set up the next break higher. Money flow is solid and relative strength is making the breakout ahead of the stock, a bullish indication. Looking to add positions as the stock makes the breakout.
