THE PLAYS

Good Movers: APCS; CELL; PXP; RRC

Thursday night play results:
CELL: Nice price move but volume stalled out some.
IDIX: Continued lower, testing the 18 day EMA on this breakout pullback.
DIA: Lower volume rebound from the Thursday dump lower. Still below the 200 day SMA and still weak.

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 07/02/2005
OPMR (Optimal Robotics--$17.20; +1.05; optionable): Business equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/opmr.html
STATUS: Cup. A strong September 2004 to March 2005 run took OPMR to a three year high and it needed a breather. The past 14 weeks it has been forming a cup pattern with the bottom just below the 50 day EMA. Already outstanding 6 to 2 accumulation at this stage, a very good showing that buyers are using the pullback to buy the stock. Friday it rallied above the 50 day EMA (16.78) on a very strong shot of above average volume. Strong money flow is leading the way higher, out in front of the stock. Looking to enter on a continued move higher from here.

PQUE (Petroquest Energy--$6.89; +0.32; optionable): Independent oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pque.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Solid volume back up to average Friday as PQUE jumped off the 18 day EMA (6.48) and toward the breakout from the handle of its 16 week base. The second leg of the pattern used the 200 day SMA (5.69) as support and bounced the stock back up. Looks ready to try for a new all-time high on a move over 7.50 following the breakout. Positive 4 to 3 accumulation has set up the breakout and looking for even more volume this week as PQUE moves through the buy point and gives us the breakout.

Play Date: 07/02/2005
VTAL (Vital Images--$18.20; +0.25; optionable): Business software and services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/v/vtal.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Nice doji with tail Friday as VTAL reached down to the 18 day EMA (17.48) on the low and rebounded to post a modest gain on low volume. VTAL broke out from a 5.5 month cup base in mid-May, rallied, and came back to test that move at the 50 day EMA (16.83). It rallied on strong trade when the market sold off two Thursdays and Fridays back. Excellent 8 to 3 accumulation in the base (8 up price weeks on rising volume to 3 down price weeks on rising volume) shows a lot of buying that set up the breakout. Excellent money flow to boot. After this test VTAL is ready to go once more. A top rated stock in just about all categories.

Play Date: 07/02/2005
XMSR (XM Satellite Radio--$34.82; +1.16; optionable): Satellite radio
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/x/xmsr.html
After Hours: $34.82
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Friday XMSR reported strong growth in subscriptions and that started the stock higher on a very nice surge in volume. The move took it past the highs in the handle in what looks to be the start of the breakout move that will try and take it up to the highs in the pattern near 40. Solid 7 to 5 accumulation in the base shows net buyers and that sets the stage for a strong breakout move. Looking to take positions as it continues this break higher on more solid trade.
