THE PLAYS

Good Movers: Many. ACMR; AGP; APA; ARO; BEN; COG; COH; DO; ESRX; FTO; IVGN; VLO, XTO, etc.

New Post-Split Play:

Play Date: 07/05/2005
MSCC (Microsemi--$19.39; +0.43; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuits
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mscc.html
After Hours: $19.28
STATUS: Breakout test. MSCC made us some good money earlier in the year and after taking a gain we let it come back to the 50 day EMA (18.99) to set up once more. It has done that and started to bounce Tuesday on some stronger though still below average volume. It broke out from a 22 week cup with handle base and rallied to 21. This is its first test of the breakout. Strong 8 to 4 accumulation (8 up price weeks on rising volume to 4 down price weeks on rising volume) in the base has set up the breakout and run. Solid money flow to go with the accumulation. Looks ready to continue the move higher; just want to see some more volume as it makes the move.

IMGC (Intermagnetics General--$30.66; +0.20; optionable): Manufactures superconducting materials
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/imgc.html
After Hours: $31.13
STATUS: Breakout test. Cup with handle breakout last Wednesday on some very nice volume. It has come back to test the breakout and may make it to the 10 day EMA (29.81) on this pullback before it is ready to move. Volume was up Tuesday, however, and that can signal it is ready to move from here. Strong 8 to 4 accumulation in the base set up the breakout. After this pullback it is ready to go.

New Pre-Announcement Plays:

Play Date: 07/05/2005
CDIS (Cal Dive--$54.94; +2.56; optionable): Oil and gas equipment/services. Forecast to announce mid-July. Reseraching to pinpoint the exact date.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 10-18-2000 at $54.50.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cdis.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Making the breakout from its 16 week base, moving higher Tuesday on rising, above average volume. Nice clean breakout underway as CDIS heads to an all-time high. Like that because of the good base with positive 4 to 3 accumulation set up the breakout and it can move higher with no overhead resistance. Relative strength breakout as well is a good corroboration of the move. Ready to step in on a further volume move and then will look at more on the test of the move.
Volume: 615.619K Avg Volume: 563.323K
BUY POINT: $55.15 Volume=750K Target=$62.98 Stop=$52.12
POSITION: KPQ LK - Dec. $55c (52 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/cdis.html

Play Date: 07/05/2005
PLCE (Childrens Place--$48.67; +1.62; optionable): Apparel stores for kids or kid's clothes. Forecast early August.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 2-4-2000 at $48.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/plce.html
After Hours: $48.52
STATUS: Breakout test. Volume jumped well above average Tuesday as PLCE moved off the 50 day EMA (47.21). This is the breakout test from a 9 week cup with handle base sporting strong 5 to 2 accumulation (5 up price weeks on rising volume to 2 down price weeks on rising volume). Strong money flow is leading higher. Rallied through the 18 day EMA (48.70) on the high but closed just below that level. Looking for another solid volume move higher through that level. That is when we move in.
Volume: 1.074M Avg Volume: 802.027K
BUY POINT: $48.87 Volume=850K Target=$55.94 Stop=$47.04
POSITION: TUY LJ - Dec. $50c (53 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/plce.html

Play Date: 07/05/2005
RMD (Resmed--$66.46; +0.50; optionable): Medical appliances. Forecast to announce a split in mid-August.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 2-25-200 at $68.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rmd.html
STATUS: Breakout test. RMD has been moving in an ascending base the past 5 months, then surged higher to end last week, rallying off the 50 day EMA (62.38) on strong volume. Nice strong 6 to 3 accumulation in the pattern has set up this move. Shot higher, side-stepped a couple of sessions, and looks ready to move higher from here and follow its strong money flow. Want to see the volume move up as it does.
Volume: 273K Avg Volume: 250.105K
BUY POINT: $66.95 Volume=325K Target=$75 Stop=$64.11
POSITION: RMD JM - Oct. $65c (54 delta) &/or Stock

Continuing Plays:

Play Date: 07/02/2005
EAT (Brinker Intl.--$40.15; +0.17; optionable): Restaurants (Chili's, Romano's, On the Boarder, etc.). Kind of a wild card at this time of the year and tentatively forecast for 8-11-05, but a great pattern has set up.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 3:2 split on 12-9-00 at $41.00.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/e/eat.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Still working at the 18 day EMA (39.95), holding that breakout support on low, below average volume. Just being patient and letting it set up for the continued breakout run. To recap: EAT exploded higher in early June when it raised its earnings outlook. The consumer is confident and spending money for now, and EAT is benefiting accordingly. After that big blast higher EAT has come back to test the move, holding at the 18 day EMA the past week on lower, below average volume. Volume started to buck back up Thursday and Friday, indicating that the pullback may be over. It held the 18 day and just over the February and March highs on the test, a good indication it is going to hold and rebound to continue the breakout move. Nice 17 week base formed using the 200 day SMA (35.63) on the low and sporting solid positive 3:2 accumulation. Outstanding money flow is leading the way higher.
Volume: 385.3K Avg Volume: 767.131K
BUY POINT: $40.38 Volume=1.2M Target=$46.42 Stop=$39.37
POSITION: EAT JH - Oct. $40c (54 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/eat.html

Play Date: 06/30/2005
GOOG (Google--$295.71; +4.46; optionable): Internet search. Forecast 7-21-05 with earnings.
BACKGROUND: No splits. Some say GOOG is not going to split. On the other hand it conducted a dutch auction to give the little guy a shot at the IPO. Seems the head Googs would want to get the price back down, but they also want to beat Amazon's high over 500.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/goog.html
After Hours: $295.90
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. Moved to the buy point just before the close but volume was very low and it was right at the close so we decided to wait and see how it reacts Wednesday. Want to see more trade as it continues higher. To recap: Looking for another quick run from GOOG as it tests toward the 18 day EMA (288.13) after it rallied to $310 and has made a nice test of that move. It can run fast when it gets started, and we are looking at another bump higher here to make some good money once more.
Volume: 7.499M Avg Volume: 13.756M
BUY POINT: $295.25 Volume=20M Target=$314 Stop=$291.25
POSITION: GGD IR - Sept. $290c (50 delta)
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/goog.html

Play Date: 07/05/2005
WFMI (Whole Foods Market--$119.68; +1.31; optionable): Organic foods stores. Potentially set for an announcement in late July but WFMI has talked about letting the price run which it has done.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2 for 1 split on 5-10-01 in conjunction with a board meeting. The stock price was $50.40.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/w/wfmi.html
After Hours: $120.02
STATUS: Test breakout. WFMI is working laterally over the 18 day EMA (118) on low, below average volume. It is making higher and higher lows below a constant top near 120. That is building pressure for the next break higher to send it further on the breakout run. Strong money flow is heading higher.
Volume: 365.307K Avg Volume: 883.248K
BUY POINT: $120.35 Volume=1.3M Target=$129 Stop=$117.55
POSITION: FMQ KD - Nov. $120c (45 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/wfmi.html

PRE-SPLIT PLAYS:

Play Date: 06/16/2005
USPI (United Surgical--$52.6; +0.67; optionable): Specialized health services. Splits 3:2 on 7-18-05
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/u/uspi.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Volume has started to edge up the past two sessions as USPI holds the 18 day EMA (51.66), a great near term support level for a breakout. Strong money flow is leading higher. Looks ready to continue the breakout move. To recap: USPI has tested the strong late May and early June move. It was a bit rocky, but held the 18 day EMA on the close on very low, below average volume. Money flow continues moving higher ahead of the stock even as it eases back and tests the move. Held 50 as we wanted and now looks ready to move. Really like that money flow and waiting for the stock to follow it.
Volume: 241.593K Avg Volume: 299.72K
BUY POINT: $52.55 Volume=400K Target=$59.95 Stop=$50.97
POSITION: QPJ KK - Nov. $55c (50 delta) &/or Stock

POST-SPLIT PLAYS:

Play Date: 07/02/2005
ANSS (Ansys--$35.35; +0.04; optionable): Engineering simulation software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/anss.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Volume was up to average Tuesday as ANSS continues to work just over the 18 day EMA (35.09), trying to find its feet in this two week handle and provide the breakout move. Still looks very good. To recap: A top rated stock, ANSS is forming the handle to an 18 week base that formed roughly around the 50 day EMA (34.37) as it consolidates a strong 2004 run and sets up for the breakout to a new all-time high. Good rally on volume in mid-June and then a pullback to the 50 day EMA to form the handle. Strong 5 to 2 accumulation (5 up price weeks on rising volume to 2 down price weeks on rising volume) has set up the breakout move. Solid money flow is support the move as well.
Volume: 212.866K Avg Volume: 210.637K
BUY POINT: $36.35 Volume=316K Target=$42 Stop=$34.88
POSITION: QUS JG - Oct. $35c (54 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/anss.html

Play Date: 06/23/2005
PDS (Precision Drilling--$39.57; -0.08; optionable): Oil and gas drilling and equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pds.html
STATUS: PDS is forming something of a second handle to its 18 week base, testing the 50 day EMA (38.90) the past week as it eases back on low volume to shake out the last sellers and set the real move ahead. Formed along the 50 day EMA, a key support level that the big money uses to accumulate positions. Solid 5 to 3 accumulation in the base shows they are indeed buying it along the 50 day EMA. Volume rallied up to above average Tuesday; looking for it to continue as PDS makes a breakaway move to the upside. Seems all other energy stocks are doing this as well.
Volume: 773.2K Avg Volume: 565.775K
BUY POINT: $40.72 Volume=825K Target=$45.82 Stop=$39.62
POSITION: PDS IH - Sept. $40c (55 delta) &/or Stock
