THE PLAYS

Good Movers: CCI; NUVA; NVDA

Tuesday night play results:
NBR: Took a breather on lower volume after the strong Tuesday move.
NSTK: Looks good and ready to make the breakaway move.
VCLK: Volume backed off as it tried to stretch the move but with limited success.
WCG: Gapped higher on good volume and kept part of the gain. Still a good buy.

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 07/06/2005
CNC (Centene--$34.34; +0.63; optionable): Health care plans
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cnc.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Split in December 2004 and managed to rally on into early March. It then fell into the current 17 week base that used the 200 day SMA (28.97) on the lows as support. Low volume rally up through May and June to form the right side of the base. Solid 6 to 3 accumulation (6 up price weeks on rising volume to 3 down price weeks on rising volume) shows plenty of buying during the pattern. Nice low volume handle the past two weeks looks to have shaken out the last sellers. Good volume surge Wednesday as CNC moved up off the 10 day EMA (33.49) and started the breakout move. Ready to break to a new all-time high after a good base set the foundation for the breakout and next run.
Volume: 788.4K Avg Volume: 449.617K
BUY POINT: $34.48 Volume=650K Target=$40.55 Stop=$33.05
POSITION: CNC LG - Dec. $35c (56 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 07/06/2005
KFX (KFX, Inc.--$14.77; -0.27; optionable): Clean coal and lignite technologies
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/k/kfx.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Very nicely formed 17 week base, sporting excellent 7 to 2 accumulation (7 up price weeks on rising volume to 2 down price weeks on rising volume) is ready for the breakout. A good lateral move in June, a break higher to start this month, and ready to move above resistance at 15 and give a breakaway move. This breakout when it comes sets KFX on the road to a new all-time high, but it does not have to get there to make us a nice gain. Want to see the volume ramp back up as it moves off the 10 day EMA (14.39) test and shows the clean breakout.
Volume: 432.5K Avg Volume: 626.218K
BUY POINT: $15.22 Volume=939K Target=$18.25 Stop=$14.28
POSITION: KFX LC - Dec. $15c (81 delta) &/or Stock

Downside:

Play Date: 07/06/2005
QQQQ (Nasdaq 100 Trust--$36.93; -0.18; optionable)
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/q/qqqq.html
After Hours: $36.90
STATUS: Put. The large cap techs in the NASDAQ 100 are struggling, unable to retake the 200 day SMA (37.33) the past two weeks after breaking below that level on a big volume surge. Another run higher toward that level Wednesday rolled over with a close below the 50 day SMA (37.01). Looks ready to fail this move and head lower for a test of the March to April lows. A move to the target lands us a 48%ish gain.
Volume: 79.332M Avg Volume: 94.839M
BUY POINT: $36.87 Volume=95M Target=$35.86 Stop=$37
POSITION: QQQ TL - Aug. $38p (-69 delta)

Continuing plays ready to go:

Play Date: 06/30/2005
DIA (Diamonds Trust (DJ30)--$102.65; -0.96; optionable)
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dia.html
After Hours: $102.66
STATUS: Put. DJ30 is in the toilet and DIA was dropping on strong, above average volume Wednesday as it failed in a test of the break below the 200 day SMA (104.48). Very similar to the QQQQ breakdown, but DIA only made it up to the 10 day EMA (103.61) as it rebounded. Looking to move in on some further downside. A move to the target lands us a 43%ish gain.
Volume: 8.957M Avg Volume: 6.585M
BUY POINT: $102.62 Volume=7M Target=$100.85 Stop=$103.05
POSITION: DIA TY - Aug. $103p (-48 delta)

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

AAPL, CELG, BLUD, BR, COH, HW, PSYS, RTSX, STN

RTSX: Excellent lateral move on low volume to test the strong mid-June breakout. A good add-to on an above average volume jump from here.

STN: Moving up off the 50 day EMA but volume is still quite low.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.

SIRI: Working on a handle to a 7 month cup with handle base. Used the 200 day SMA on the low as support. After a strong run in November with the Howard Stern hype it needed a rest. This long base is giving it that rest. Not a bad pattern sporting solid 7 to 4 accumulation.

MORN: A new issue in May, MORN surged in June and has moved laterally the past 4 weeks, trying to set up for the next run.
