New Pre-Announcement Plays:
Play Date: 07/07/2005
FNF (Fidelity National Financial--$37.99; +1.28; optionable): Surety and title insurance. Forecast 7-20-05
BACKGROUND: Last announced a split 1-28-04 at 41.70. Before that it announced 4-23-03 at $35.80.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/fnf.html
STATUS: Breakout. FNF is continuing the breakout move from its 12 week double bottom with handle base, surging Thursday on strong volume. After a 5 week lateral move to test the mid-May breakout this is a good continuation of the breakout move. Nice base that formed using the 200 day SMA (32.52) as support on the lows. Money flow is surging ahead of price and relative strength broke out as well, a good confirmation of the breakout move. Ready to move into positions on s further run higher.

OSK (Oshkosh Truck--$80.44; +0.49; optionable): Trucks. Forecast 7-21-05
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 7-24-03 at $57.30.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/osk.html
STATUS: Flat base. Volume has started to edge higher this week as OSK moved off of the 50 day EMA (78.13), the support in its 14 week base. Positive accumulation in the pattern is setting up the break higher. This rising volume as it edges up to the May high is setting up the breakout. Looking for a volume break higher to start positions as OSK moves to a new all-time high.

CDIS (Cal Dive--$55; +0.82; optionable): Oil and gas equipment/services. Forecast to announce mid-July. Reseraching to pinpoint the exact date.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 10-18-2000 at $54.50.
After Hours: $55
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cdis.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Volume was up Thursday as CDIS strained toward its next move higher. Super looking pattern and ready to move in. to recap: Making the breakout from its 16 week base, moving higher Tuesday on rising, above average volume. Nice clean breakout underway as CDIS heads to an all-time high. Like that because of the good base with positive 4 to 3 accumulation set up the breakout and it can move higher with no overhead resistance. Relative strength breakout as well is a good corroboration of the move. Ready to step in on a further volume move and then will look at more on the test of the move.

BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 2-25-200 at $68.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rmd.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Another stock showing strong volume Thursday and straining toward the next break higher. RMD is at the doorstep of a new all-time high. Looks ready to move once more. To recap: RMD has been moving in an ascending base the past 5 months, then surged higher to end last week, rallying off the 50 day EMA (62.67) on strong volume. Nice strong 6 to 3 accumulation in the pattern has set up this move. Shot higher, side-stepped a couple of sessions, and looks ready to move higher from here and follow its strong money flow. Want to see the volume move up as it does.

PRE-SPLIT PLAYS:
Play Date: 06/16/2005
USPI (United Surgical--$53.15; +0.46; optionable): Specialized health services. Splits 3:2 on 7-18-05
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/u/uspi.html
After Hours: $53.09
STATUS: Breakout test. Has not quite been able to deliver the breakaway move, but with volume jumping back up to average Thursday, USPI looks as if it is ready to deliver. Tapped the 18 day EMA (51.91) on the low and rebounded to post a gain. Now waiting for some more upside on continued strong trade to move in. To recap: USPI has tested the strong late May and early June move. It was a bit rocky, but held the 18 day EMA on the close on very low, below average volume. Money flow continues moving higher ahead of the stock even as it eases back and tests the move. Really like that money flow and waiting for the stock to follow it.
Volume: 299.653K Avg Volume: 300.128K
BUY POINT: New: $53.45 (orig. $52.55) Volume=400K Target=$60.75 Stop=$50.97

POST-SPLIT PLAYS:
Play Date: 07/06/2005
CNC (Centene--$34.49; +0.15; optionable): Health care plans
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cnc.html
After Hours: $34.40
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Tried to continue the strong Wednesday break higher but volume backed off and the move was all over the map. Still very strong and looking for a continued move upside to step into positions. Good volume Wednesday and we can use that as long as some decent trade shows up once more. To recap: Split in December 2004 and managed to rally on into early March. It then fell into the current 17 week base that used the 200 day SMA (29.04) on the lows as support. Low volume rally up through May and June to form the right side of the base. Solid 6 to 3 accumulation (6 up price weeks on rising volume to 3 down price weeks on rising volume) shows plenty of buying during the pattern. Nice low volume handle the past two weeks looks to have shaken out the last sellers. Good volume surge Wednesday as CNC moved up off the 10 day EMA (33.67) and started the breakout move. Ready to break to a new all-time high after a good base set the foundation for the breakout and next run.
Volume: 291.4K Avg Volume: 449.617K
BUY POINT: New: $34.62 (orig. $34.48) Volume=650K Target=$40.55 Stop=$33.05

Play Date: 07/06/2005
MRVL (Marvell Technology--$39.82; +0.11; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuits
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mrvl.html
After Hours: $39.88
STATUS: Breakout test. Starting to come off of the 50 day EMA (38.40) a bit more as volume edges toward average. Looks ready to make its move. To recap: While the market struggled Wednesday, MRVL continued a jump up off the 50 day EMA and the highs from its 10 week base it broke out of in mid-May. Strong volume on the breakout and then a nice, low volume pullback to test that move the past 5 weeks. Volume has started higher the past two sessions as MRVL started off the 50 day. Solid money flow. Looking for a bit more volume as it continues higher on the rebound move.
Volume: 2.684M Avg Volume: 3.58M
BUY POINT: $40.11 Volume=3.8M Target=$45.35 Stop=$38.74
POSITION: UVM KH - Nov. $40c (54 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 07/05/2005
MSCC (Microsemi--$19.93; +0.24; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuits
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mscc.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Another strong stock that is starting up of the 50 day EMA (19.06) on some stronger trade though it is still below average and could use some more as it continues higher. Looks ready. To recap: MSCC made us some good money earlier in the year and after taking a gain we let it come back to the 50 day EMA to set up once more. It has done that and started to bounce this week on some stronger though still below average volume. It broke out from a 22 week cup with handle base and rallied to 21. This is its first test of the breakout. Strong 8 to 4 accumulation (8 up price weeks on rising volume to 4 down price weeks on rising volume) in the base has set up the breakout and run. Solid money flow to go with the accumulation. Looks ready to continue the move higher; just want to see some more volume as it makes the move.
Volume: 663.893K Avg Volume: 906.735K
BUY POINT: New: $20.11 (orig. $19.59) Volume=1.4M Target=$22.72 Stop=$18.79
POSITION: QMS LD - Dec. $20c (51 delta) &/or Stock
