THE PLAYS

Weekend play results
APCC: Volume jumped as APCC slipped below the 18 day EMA.
NVDA: Good volume Monday as NVDA started toward the breakout but could not quite hold it. Still very solid action in a weak market.
WRES: Still holding the base quite nicely.
KLAC: Nope. Slipped through the 18 day EMA.
OPMR: Nice hammer doji at the 10 day EMA. Looks ready to move higher.

New Plays:

AKAM (Akami Technologies--$15.27; +0.15; optionable): Internet services

After Hours: $15.25
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Solid 9 month base has set up this point where AKAM is ready to make the break higher. Volume moved back above average Monday as AKAM moved off of the 10 day EMA (15.08), looking solid for the breakout over the recent highs at 15.50. Strong money flow is leading higher, and AKAM looks ready to follow it to the breakout.

After the breakout it came back in the market selling, but held Monday at support at 4.20. Strong money flow is leading higher, and after this shakeout VITA will be ready to resume the breakout move.

Play Date: 08/08/2005
ORBK (Orbotech--$25.80; +0.29; optionable): Scientific & technical instruments
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/orbk.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Excellent breakout in late July from a 20 week cup with handle base rallied well and now ORBK is making its first test of that move. Strong volume on the break higher and now a lower volume pullback to the 10 day EMA (25.17) to test. Volume jumped Monday as ORBK moved off the 10 day. Outstanding 8 to 2 accumulation in the pattern set up the breakout and will support a further run. Excellent money flow is leading higher. Looks super.

After Hours: $7.59
STATUS: Cup w/handle breakout. Volume exploded Monday as PQUE made a new breakout, clearing resistance at 7.50 that marked the top of the handle. Solid 6 to 4 accumulation in the base has set up the breakout and rally. Excellent money flow is leading the way higher. Looking to add positions as PQUE continues the breakout move.

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

AAPL, CELG, BLUD, BR, COH, HW, PSYS, RTSX, STN

CELG: Don't like this turn of events from this leader as it fell through the 18 day EMA on some rising average volume.

HW: Nice test of the 10 day EMA on the low; the lateral move looks to be just about over and ready for the next leg.

RTSX; Like the short handle it is forming over the 10 day EMA. Setting up nicely in the small 7 week base that has formed right on top of the 50 day EMA.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.

MNST: Working in a 7 month reverse head and shoulders pattern, pulling back the past week on lower and lower below average volume. Did not do much with the improving jobs report but a nice pattern setting up on its own without minding the market.
