THE PLAYS

Monday night play results
AKAM: Low volume test back to the 18 day EMA on the intraday low.
VITA: Nope. Dove lower on rising above average volume
ORBK: Gapped higher but then gave it back and more. Held the 10 day EMA.
PQUE: Took the day off on low volume.

New Plays:

Play Date: 08/09/2005
CY (Cypress Semiconductor--$14.74; +0.43; optionable): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cy.html
After Hours: $14.74
STATUS: Ascending triangle. Volume jumped Tuesday as CY moved off of the 10 day EMA (14.30), crowding the breakout from its 22 week base. Strong 6 to 3 accumulation in the pattern shows plenty of buying and has set up the breakout move. Strong money flow is leading higher as well. This is the first solid base as CY moves up and off the 2004 low.
Volume: 5.243M Avg Volume: 3.208M
BUY POINT: $14.98 Volume=4M Target=$17.98 Stop=$14.08
POSITION: CY AC - Jan. $15c (56 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 08/09/2005
GME (Gamestop--$32.9; +0.69; optionable): Electronic games stores
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gme.html
After Hours: $33.05
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. GME made us some good scratch on its great run from April. We said we would look for the next entry point after it started to sell back and we took the gain. GME ahs come back to the 50 day EMA (32.54), slightly undercutting that level Friday on strong trade but then rebounding this week, the Tuesday move on strong above average volume itself. Money flow has remained strong during the test, and we are looking for the Tuesday strong volume to start the move higher with a break through the 18 day EMA (33.80) on strong volume being our buy point. Tuesday looked like a good start.
Volume: 927.8K Avg Volume: 684.603K
BUY POINT: $33.85 Volume=1M Target=$39.95 Stop=$32.49
POSITION: GME AF - Jan. $30c (68 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 08/09/2005
ODP (Office Depot--$28.05; +0.5; optionable): Office products stores
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/odp.html
STATUS: Breakout test. ODP has already made us some strong green on an earlier run, and we said we would look at it again when it made the next test and was ready for the next buy point. After a 4 week lateral move that has come back to test the 18 day EMA (27.11). That seems to be all it needs as volume surged Tuesday as ODP jumped higher off of that level. Strong money flow is leading higher and ODP looks ready to follow. Nice 17 week cup with handle that broke out in late July. Looking to step in on a further volume move higher.
Volume: 4.168M Avg Volume: 2.352M
BUY POINT: $28.65 Volume=3.5M Target=$32.95 Stop=$27.08
POSITION: ODP AF - Jan. $30c (49 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

AAPL, CELG, BLUD, BR, COH, HW, PSYS, RTSX, STN

AAPL: Volume was up as AAPL started to break higher off the 18 day EMA. Getign ready for the move over 44 and the breakout.

BLUD: Heading back down and starting to undercut the 200 day SMA.

HW: Very nice tight doji over the 10 day EMA on low volume. Just about ready for the next leg higher.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.

NGAS: Broke out in late June and has made a super rally up the 10 day EMA. It surged to end July and then spent this month pulling back to test that move. It has made 4 bounces up off of the short term moving averages to this point, and the last move was rather wild, typically of late stage bounces. Might squeeze another bound here, but playing it late in the game as it will need a deeper test after the next bounc, and it may not even make that fifth bounce higher.
