Tuesday night play results
CY: Nice break higher on strong volume
GME: Tapped the 10 day EMA but faded as volume did not rally with it.
ODP: Nice volume as ODP gapped higher and ran.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 08/10/2005
NTGR (Netgear--$22.28; +0.96; optionable): Telecom equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/ntgr.html
After Hours: $22.28
STATUS: Breakout test. NTGR broke out in early July from a 7.5 month cup with handle base. It consolidated the past four weeks and then broke higher again Wednesday on strong volume. Strong 8 to 4 accumulation in the base (8 up price weeks on rising volume to 4 down price weeks on rising volume) shows plenty of buying. Money flow is surging higher ahead of price as well, another indication of the strong buying. Relative strength broke out Wednesday on the move, and that is a good corroboration. Looking to move in as NTGR makes its way past the recent July highs on continued strong volume. A new issue in the second half of 2003, NTGR is breaking to a new all-time high where there is no resistance.

Play Date: 08/10/2005
BRY (Berry Petroleum--$59.90; +2.06; optionable): Independent oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/bry.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Volume surged Wednesday as BRY moved off the 18 day EMA (57.41) and toward the breakout from its 21 week base. Nicely formed along the 50 day EMA (54.92), a key support level the big money uses to acquire additional positions. Solid 6 to 4 accumulation in the base shows us net buyers, giving the edge to the breakout. Looking for continued strong volume as BRY moves through the buy point and makes the breakout.
Volume: 323.3K Avg Volume: 162.497K
BUY POINT: $60.15 Volume=225K Target=$67.75 Stop=$58.05
POSITION: BRY KL - Nov. $60c (45 delta) &/or Stock

Downside:
Play Date: 08/10/2005
JAKK (Jakks Pacific--$16.73; +0.08; optionable): Design, development, production and marketing of toys
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/j/jakk.html
After Hours: $16.71
STATUS: Put. JAKK formed a broad top January through March and then started this prolonged descent. It broke through the 200 day SMA up at 20 in late June, tested the move in July, and then tanked. It has rebounded to test the 10 day EMA (16.95), but it was a weak rebound. Money flow is diving lower and after this sickly rebound to the 10 day we are looking for the next leg lower. A move to the target makes us a 40%ish gain.
Volume: 296.198K Avg Volume: 384.462K
BUY POINT: $16.58 Volume=500K Target=$15.25 Stop=$16.98
POSITION: UFF UW - Sept. $17.50p (-48 delta)

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.
AAPL, CELG, BLUD, BR, COH, HW, PSYS, RTSX, STN
COH: Not bad, showing some close to average volume off the 50 day EMA, but stalling below the 18 day EMA. Not done with the base yet, but held the 50 day EMA, a good sign.
PSYS: Good volume as it starts higher off the 50 day EMA. In the right sector to perform in a shakier market.
STN: Nice doji at the 50 day EMA.
SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST
We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.
FST: Another oil and gas company. FST is at a 10 year high. It broke higher in July but hasn't been able to put together a breakaway move. It is working up the 18 day EMA though any big gains are lacking. Volume has surged the past four sessions. Maybe that will give it the nudge to make the breakout.
