THE PLAYS

Good moves: BAC; BRY; INFA; NTGR; PWR; RRC

Wednesday night play results
NTGR: Nice surge on strong volume.
BRY: Solid volume breakout.
JAKK: Low volume move up to test the 10 day EMA, setting the next turn lower.

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 08/11/2005
MPET (Magellan Petroleum--$3.01; +0.12; no options): Independent oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mpet.html
After Hours: $3.03
STATUS: Pennant. MPET came back to life in June, breaking out of a 17 month base. After a big surge higher in mid-June and then it started the current pattern, a 9 week pennant making higher and higher lows up the 18 day EMA (2.98). Solid 3:1 accumulation in the lateral base shows the buying continuing during the base. Money flow continues at strong levels, another indication of buying. Low volume on this last test lower shows very little selling. Looking for volume to return as it makes the break higher through the buy point.

TER (Teradyne--$15.36; +0.54; optionable): Chip equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/ter.html
After Hours: $15.33
STATUS: Test 200 day SMA. After a long downtrend below the 200 day SMA (14.63) that started in January 2004, TER has finally, finally made the break back through that resistance point. It gapped higher in mid-July on tremendous trade on its earnings report. It lost money but not as much as investors feared and it blasted higher. It has come back to the 200 day SMA the past three weeks, holding that level on very low trade and then jumping up Thursday on rising, average volume. Solid money flow is leading higher. TER looks ready to give us a very nice trade here. Not looking at it long term, but these breakouts over the 200 day SMA after a long decline can provide excellent returns. Love the test as that shows the 200 day is solid support and gives it the launch pad to move higher.

POSITION: TER AC - Jan. $15c (59 delta) &/or Stock

UTHR (United Therapeutics--$67.12; +1.14; optionable): Drugs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/u/uthr.html
After Hours: $67.11
STATUS: Breakout test. UTHR exploded higher in early August, blasting out of a 10 week cup base on tremendous volume when its earnings were reported. It has since come back to test that move, falling toward the 10 day EMA (64.01) on low volume, holding easily above that level. It is already starting the move back up; want to see some above average volume as it continues higher. That is when we initiate the play.
Volume: 704.09K Avg Volume: 642.045K
BUY POINT: $67.55 Volume=963K Target=$77.65 Stop=$65.91
POSITION: FUH KM - Nov. $65c (64 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

AAPL, CELG, BLUD, BR, COH, HW, PSYS, RTSX, STN

AAPL: Almost there, having formed a 4 week handle to the 24 week cup with handle base.

CELG: Making a higher low at the 18 day EMA as volume bumps back up near average. Nice recovery and could be ready for the next leg higher.

HW: Really, really looking good for the next move with a very tight range that is tapping the 10 day EMA on the intraday lows. Volume moved up Thursday to average. Looks ready.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.

OSG: Broke out from an ascending triangle last week and has come back to the 18 day EMA to test the move. Very nice base formed above the 200 day SMA and a strong volume breakout. Now it has made the test and we need to see it bounce on strong trade. Solid.
