THE PLAYS
Good moves: TINY
Wednesday night play results
AMT: Nice volume surge with a doji tapping the 18 day EMA on the low
CTL: Another nice doji at the 18 day EMA.
KNOT: Low, low volume as KNOT took a breather in the test.
RBAK: Dimped down to the 18 day EMA on higher volume; rallied back to hold that level.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 08/18/2005
MOBE (Mobility Electronics--$10.62; -0.14; optionable): PC products to enhance mobile computing
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mobe.html
STATUS: Breakout test. MOBE exploded out of a big 21 month cup with handle base in to end July. It has spent the past 3 weeks pulling back to test the move, holding the 18 day EMA (10.59) on the low volume pullback. Solid 21 to 13 accumulation in the long base (21 up price weeks on rising volume to 13 down price weeks on rising volume) shows net buying, a big foundation for a run higher. Looking for strong volume to return as MOBE breaks higher after this test, following the strong money flow higher.

WOOF (VCA Antech--$24.31; -0.09; optionable): Veterinary services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/w/woof.html
STATUS: Cup. Not barking up the wrong tree with this stock (yes, the jokes are weak tonight) as WOOF sets up in a 10 week base formed along the 50 day EMA (23.84), ready to break to a new all-time high. This follows on the heels of a much larger 11 month base that broke higher in April. Solid money flow is leading higher as WOOF eases back the past two sessions to hold the 18 day EMA (23.99) with a nice doji. This is setting up the next move higher toward that new high. As usual, need to see volume jump as WOOF moves through the buy point.

Continuing play ready to move:
Play Date: 08/17/2005
AMT (American Tower--$22.75; +0.04; optionable): Telecom towers
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/amt.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Just on last night, but a volume surge suggests it si ready to move. Volume surged Thursday as AMT showed a tight doji, tapping the 18 day EMA (22.45) on the low and rebounding. That volume shot is telling us to 'get ready.' To recap: Broke out in late June from a 15 week cup with handle and has rallied well. This is AMT's second deeper test of the break higher, and instead of a pullback to the 50 day EMA down at 21.20 it has formed a lateral range over the 18 day EMA and below 23. Excellent strength by this leader in a selling market, holding its gains while the market does not. It is set up well to continue the break higher.
Volume: 7.068M Avg Volume: 3.4M

POSITION: AMT AX - Jan. $22.50c (59 delta) &/or Stock

New Buy Point on Current Play:
Play Date: 08/12/2005
AAPL (Apple Computer--$46.3; -0.85; optionable): PC's and Ipod's
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/aapl.html
After Hours: $46.33
STATUS: Breakout test. Coming back to tap at the 10 day EMA (45.43) on the Thursday low on lower, below average volume. This move follows the sharp breakout last week from its 24 week cup with handle base that formed around the 50 day EMA. Very nice test of the breakout, using the market selling to make this low volume pullback. A rebound on strong volume proves up the breakout and shows buyers ready to move in once again. The first breakout test is one of our favorite entry points.
Volume: 15.802M Avg Volume: 18.012M
BUY POINT: New: $46.75 (orig. $46.01) Volume=29M Target=$53.55 Stop=$45.39
POSITION: QAA AI - Jan. $45c (59 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.
AAPL, CELG, BLUD, BR, COH, HW, PSYS, RTSX, STN
AAPL: Ready for the next buy (see above).
BR: Trying to hold up above some support at 62.50.
COH: Big dip lower but rebounded to recoup most of the loss. Still below the 50 day EMA and at a critical point.
PSYS: Forming something of a handle here along the 10 day EMA. Needs a few more days of this lateral move.
SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST
We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.
WEN: Exploded higher in late July on stronger than expected earnings. It has come back to the 18 day EMA, working laterally along that level the past week on most lower, below average volume. Last real base was from March 2004 to April 2005 when it made another big breakout related to earnings. The gap higher in late July came off the 50 day EMA. Not bad.
