THE PLAYS:

Good movers: AAPL; ADSK; APC; DP; ESRX; HRS; JAH; JEC; LLL; MDT; MINI; RESP; RMD; SYK; WFMI

New Pre-Split Play:

Play Date: 09/06/2005
PCP (Precision Castparts--$96.5; +0.51; optionable): Steel & Iron. Splits 2:1 on 9-9-05
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pcp.html
STATUS: Breakout test. PCP broke out from a 17 week saucer base in mid-July, surging higher on the move, rallying a good 11 points. It slid laterally and started back up last week, once more on strong trade. It tested back to the 10 day EMA (95.36) on lower volume, holding at that level. Strong money flow and the right kind of stock post-Katrina. Looking to move in on a bounce up off of this near support. Good momentum for a pre-split play.
Volume: 426.8K Avg Volume: 441.143K
BUY POINT: $96.86 Volume=500K Target=$102.95 Stop=$95.05
POSITION: PCP LS - Dec. $95c (59 delta)

New Post-Split Play:

Play Date: 09/06/2005
CBI (Chicago Bridge & Iron--$31.31; +1.61; optionable): General contractors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cbi.html
After Hours: $31.40
STATUS: Breakout test. This is a post-Katrina play. CBI split in April and fell into a 4 month cup with handle base, It broke out in late July, rallied some, then came back to test the breakout fully, coming all the way back to the rising 50 day EMA (26.29). It moved laterally for a week and then started up on huge volume last week as Katrina came ashore. It rallied near 33 and slipped back Thursday and Friday on lower trade. Tuesday it sold lower to near the 10 day EMA (28.83) on the low and then rebounded for a gain on strong volume. Strong 5 to 2 accumulation (5 up price weeks on rising volume to 2 down price weeks on rising volume) shows plenty of solid buying to send it higher. Money flow is surging higher and relative strength broke out as well. Ready to move in on a continued bounce higher.
Volume: 1.69M Avg Volume: 414.946K
BUY POINT: $31.58 Volume=622K Target=$37.75 Stop=$29.92
POSITION: CBI AF - Jan. $30c (61 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/cbi.html

Leader Play:

Play Date: 09/06/2005
GME (Gamestop--$35.72; +1.89; optionable): Electronic game stores
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gme.html
After Hours: $35.55
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Solid volume as GME surged higher Tuesday, heading toward the breakout from a short and violent 7 week pattern. Positive 2 to 1 accumulation shows net buying as GME heads to a new all-time high. Strong money flow is heading higher and we are looking to step in as GME follows it.
Volume: 1.304M Avg Volume: 755.666K
BUY POINT: $35.94 Volume=1M Target=$43 Stop=$33.97
POSITION: GME AG - Jan. $35c (57 delta) &/or Stock

Continuing Leader Play:

Play Date: 09/01/2005
IMN (Imation--$42; +0.42; optionable): Magnetic and optical removable data storage products
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/imn.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Strong volume Tuesday as IMN moved off the 18 day EMA (41.74). Could not hold most of the move, showing a big doji on the day. Still in good position to move toward the breakout. To recap: IMN has spent the past four weeks pulling back to the 50 day EMA (41.02) to form the handle to its 14 month base. Positive 12 to 10 accumulation in the base (12 up price weeks on rising volume to 10 down price weeks on rising volume) has set up the breakout move. IMN was a leader in the dog days of 2001 and 2002. It has moved laterally the past 2.5 years. This base is a nice set up for a breakout and new run. Just have to let it make the strong breakout.
Volume: 449K Avg Volume: 196.005K
BUY POINT: $43.92 Volume=293K Target=$50.45 Stop=$41.65
POSITION: IMN AH - Jan. $40c (63 delta) &/or Stock

Full Write-ups: We do not cover all candidates in full in each report, but focus on those ready to make a move or are right at their forecast announcement date. This way we are focused on those stocks ready to make moves.

New Pre-Announcement Plays:

Play Date: 09/06/2005
ATW (Atwood Oceanics--$79.19; +1.17; optionable): Oil and gas drilling. Tentatively forecast late October.
BACKGROUND: No splits in ATW's history.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/atw.html
STATUS: Breakout test. ATW broke out from a 26 week base to end August, rallying over 80 on the strong volume move. It has come back to test the move, reaching down toward the 10 day EMA (74.91) on the Tuesday intraday low and then rebounded to post a gain. That may be all the shakeout we see from this one. Looking to start a position as ATW continues higher on some above average volume.
Volume: 286.1K Avg Volume: 328.662K
BUY POINT: $79.65 Volume=400K Target=$89.95 Stop=$77.94
POSITION: ATW LP - Dec. $80c (52 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/atw.html

Continuing Pre-Announcement Plays:

Play Date: 09/03/2005
HAR (Harman Intl.--$101.5; +0.75; optionable): High end electronics. Forecast early October.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 10/1/03 at $98.40. Prior to that it announced a 2:1 split on 8-16-2000 at 64.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/h/har.html
STATUS: Test 200 day SMA. Nice tight doji on the 10 day EMA (101.42) on very low volume. Still a very nice test; kind of surprised it did not participate in the Tuesday move. Looking for volume to return as it rebounds off this test. To recap: HAR is coming to life once more, breaking back above the 200 day SMA in mid-August on strong volume as it reported solid results. It rallied to 110 and then has come back the past two weeks on lower volume to test that move. It spent the last week moving laterally over the 200 day on low volume, setting up the continued move higher. It is working on the right side of a 10 month cup base. Strong money flow is pushing sharply higher ahead of price even on the pullback. After a huge surge that made us great money in 2003 and 2004, HAR is setting back up for the next move. It can rip off real estate in a hurry, and after this test it will be ready to move again.
Volume: 343K Avg Volume: 906.753K
BUY POINT: $101.57 Volume=1.2M Target=$114.88 Stop=$98.35
POSITION: HAR AB - Jan. $100c (58 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/har.html

CONTINUING POST-SPLIT PLAYS

Play Date: 09/01/2005
DP (Diagnostic Products--$55.02; +1.2; optionable): Diagnostic substances
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dp.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Solid volume Tuesday as DP moved off of the 10 day EMA (53.68). Looks solid and still a buy. To recap: DP last split back in 2001, and we made some good money off of it way back then (it was one of the few strong stocks in 2000 and 20001. Since then it has basically moved laterally in a big base. This year it formed into a new base sporting solid 9 to 6 accumulation (9 up price weeks on rising volume to 6 down price weeks on rising volume). After a huge surge in July on earnings it has dropped back to support at 52 to form the handle, moving on very low volume. It has set up well, but as we say, until it shows us the move it is jus a pretty picture. Looking for a good volume surge as DP breaks higher and once again becomes a market leader. It is near an all-time high, so a breakout will give it some room to run.
Volume: 192K Avg Volume: 132.886K
BUY POINT: $54.65 Volume=200K Target=$62.85 Stop=$52.96
POSITION: DP LK - Dec. $55c (54 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/dp.html

Play Date: 08/30/2005
RECN (RSCS Connection--$29.45; +0.91; optionable): Accounting, finance, risk management services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/recn.html
STATUS: Breakout test. RECN started off the 18 day EMA (28.53), continuing the move off the 50 day EMA (27.36). Did not get the volume we wanted to see, however, so we held off. Need to get some more trade, but it still looks good. To recap: Broke out with a big gap in July, jumping out of a 26 week base. The current 8 week base followed. Strong money flow continues higher.
Volume: 335.956K Avg Volume: 654.373K
BUY POINT: $28.75 Volume=850K Target=$32.97 Stop=$27.97
POSITION: JJJ BE - Feb. $25c (72 delta) &/or Stock
