THE PLAYS

Good movers: AAPL; RBAK; WIM; SPY

Wednesday night play results:
DBRN: Solid move on strong volume. Want to see more strong volume on the move higher.
HLEX: Continued the test above the 10 day EMA.
REDF: Lower volume test of the 18 day EMA.

Upside:

Play Date: 10/20/2005
TOMO (Tom Online--$18.28; +0.59; optionable): Wireless telecom
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tomo.html
STATUS: Breakout test. TOMO was a new issue in March 2004. It formed a 10.5 month cup with handle base and blasted higher in mid-September. Strong 12 to 5 accumulation shows a ton of buying. It rallied to 20, and in the market selling it tested back toward the 50 day EMA (16.44), holding above that level on the test as volume fell back well below average. Volume exploded higher again Thursday as TOMO shot higher and continued the move. Closed well off the high (19.44) but lots of strength and that just gives us a better entry.
Volume: 562.58K Avg Volume: 280.667K
BUY POINT: $18.44 Volume=350K Target=$21.95 Stop=$17.49
POSITION: QWX CW - Mar. $17.50c (62 delta) &/or Stock

TRID (Trident Microsystems--$32.38; -0.91; optionable): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/trid.html
After Hours: $31.58
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. TRID is working on forming a handle to its 6 week pattern that is forming around the 50 day EMA (31.35). This base is forming on top of an all-time high. Strong money flow is moving higher. Nice short pattern formed after the strong April to August run. Split in late 2003 at 25; it could pop another one off at any time.
Volume: 592.069K Avg Volume: 863.268K
BUY POINT: $33.65 Volume=1.3M Target=$39.95 Stop=$31.98
POSITION: HUV AF - Jan. $30c (69 delta) or HUV AG - Jan. $35c (48 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 10/20/2005
URBN (Urban Outfitters--$30.31; +0.64; optionable): Apparel stores
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/u/urbn.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Volume jumped back up Thursday as URBN heads toward the breakout from its 13 week base that formed as URBN moved toward its late September split. It formed this base just below a new all-time high. Solid 4 to 2 accumulation in the pattern has set up the breakout to the next run higher for this strong market leader.
Volume: 2.11M Avg Volume: 2.663M
BUY POINT: $31.22 Volume=4M Target=$37.45 Stop=$29.22
POSITION: URQ CZ - Mar. $32.50c (49 delta) or URQ CF - Mar. $30c (54 delta) &/or Stock

MPWR (Monolithic Power Systems--$10.70; +0.28; no options): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mpwr.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Volume jumped Thursday as MPWR came off the test of the breakout from its 12 week cup with handle. Solid 3 to 2 accumulation and surging money flow. Relative strength is moving for the breakout. Looks very good and in a sector ready to move higher.
Volume: 156.936K Avg Volume: 128K

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

AAPL, CELG, BR, COH, NVDA, PSYS, RTSX, STN, UNH

BR: Heading lower again on volume. If not already done, consider buying back the calls and selling the stock or sell more calls, but this looks like an ugly drop still to come.

NVDA: In the right sector right now. Looking for a move over 32.50 to enter.

UNH: Faded back after the strong Wednesday move. Lower volume. Looks as if it is going to give us another entry for those who missed the first one.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.

SNDK: A big mover after a July breakout, SNDK was coming back for a needed 50 day EMA test after rallying up the 18 day EMA (48.23). We were looking forward to that as a nice entry point. After hours it reported earnings and was up 6 sticks. Was ready to test before the news so it may very well gap higher and then come back without getting too much more upside.
