THE PLAYS

Good movers: ADSK; AOB; IRIS; IVIL; MPWR; ORCC; VCLK

Weekend play results:
CLDN: Volume was up but below average as it moves toward the breakout.
ISSX: Hit the buy point late on strong volume. Ready on a continued move.
WCC: No test thus far but volume has dried up.
IGN: Low volume test of the 50 day EMA; still ready to drop.
IRIS: Nice volume break higher.

Upside:

Play Date: 10/24/2005
CCI (Crown Castle Intl.--$24.58; +0.18; optionable): Cell towers
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cci.html
STATUS: Ascending triangle. After a very strong run from June to August following a breakout from its 6 month flat base, CCI has formed the current 8 week pattern, making higher lows up the 50 day EMA (23.72). Got a bit testy last week, selling hard down to the 50 day on strong volume. It held the 50 day, however, making a rebound and a higher low. Volume dropped as it rebounded; need to see that jump back up as CCI makes the breakout to resume the move. Strong money flow. Strong relative strength ready for the breakout move.
Volume: 641.3K Avg Volume: 1.147M
BUY POINT: $25.05 Volume=1.6M Target=$29.95 Stop=$23.69
POSITION: CCI AE - Jan. $25c (51 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 10/24/2005
GAP (Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea--$28.48; +0.55; optionable): Grocery stores
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gap.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Seems pretty damn bland, but this is a nice 13 week base that formed using the 50 day EMA (27.04) as support. It needed a consolidation after a huge run earlier in the year that took it from 5 to 35. Nice consolidation sporting excellent 4 to 0 accumulation (4 up price weeks on rising volume to 0 down price weeks on rising volume). Strong money flow is rallying ahead of price, a good compliment to the accumulation. Ready for a 6 year high on a breakout move. May be boring but can peel off some good real estate in a hurry.
Volume: 470.4K Avg Volume: 581.328K
BUY POINT: $29.51 Volume=872K Target=$35.45 Stop=$27.55
POSITION: GAP BF - Feb. $30c (49 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 10/24/2005
TRAD (Tradestation--$10.05; +0.11; optionable): Investment brokerage
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/trad.html
STATUS: Ascending base. Volume shot higher Monday as TRAD continued to trade in a narrow range of the past three sessions. Solid 13 week base with money flow surging higher ahead of price. Excellent 5 to 0 accumulation shows plenty of buying to set up the breakout. Excellent pattern ready to make the breakout.
Volume: 570.087K Avg Volume: 192.689K
BUY POINT: $10.44 Volume=300K Target=$12.62 Stop=$9.82
POSITION: ULR CB - Mar. $10c (55 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 10/24/2005
UPL (Ultra Petroleum--$51.71; +3.91; optionable): Independent oil and gas
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/u/upl.html
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. Another energy stock that was caught in the October selling after a strong surge from June through September. It sold, but it also held the 50 day EMA (47.32) unlike many oil and gas stocks. Volume started to jump last week back above average on both up and down sessions. A good test Friday and then a strong price move Monday. Volume was above average but was lower on the move. Want to see some more volume as it continues higher to initiate the position ahead of the potential split announcement. May be too low at this juncture given the recent selling, but capable of posting big price gains in rapid succession.
Volume: 2.782M Avg Volume: 1.949M
BUY POINT: $52.05 Volume=2.6M Target=$63.45 Stop=$50.12
POSITION: UPL AJ - Jan. $50c (63 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

AAPL, CELG, BR, COH, NVDA, PSYS, RTSX, STN, UNH

CELG: Making the price move; just needs some more volume.

BR: Trying to come back to life after holding some support at 65. Needs to clear 72 on this move and on some better volume.

NVDA: Nice price action; now it just needs some volume to go along.

UNH: Still testing above the 10 day EMA on light trade. Setting up for the next move.

STN: Solid volume as STN moved back up through the 50 day EMA.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.

RMBS: RMBS has formed a small double bottom with handle the past 6 weeks, trying to set up a move off of the bottom of an 11 month decline. The 200 day SMA is just overhead at 14; it has to clear that to have some room to run. Definitely a more speculative play at this point.
