THE PLAYS

Good movers: BMD, CLDN, DBRN, MPWR, MRVL, PETS, RBAK

Thursday night play results:
IIJI: Eased back on lower volume after the strong Thursday move.
FIX: Held steady on low volume.
CLHB: Gapped higher but got no volume and faded back. Still in the pattern and still ready to make its move.
MUSE: Moving higher but no volume Friday
VTIV: Still ready to go but Friday was not the day.

Upside:

Play Date: 11/05/2005
COHU (Cohu--$24.37; +0.51; optionable): Semiconductor equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cohu.html
STATUS: Cup. Excellent volume to end last week as COHU moved off the 50 day EMA (23.11), working on the right side of its 15 week base. This pattern formed after the July gap higher on strong earnings. COHU sold back to fill that gap, finding bottom in mid-October. Outstanding 7 to 0 accumulation in the pattern (7 up price weeks on rising volume to 0 down price weeks on rising volume) is complimented by surging money flow. Looking to move into positions as COHU continues higher. Solid action from this stock that is sporting solid fundamentals to go along with the pattern.
Volume: 503.6K Avg Volume: 185K

POSITION: QCH BE - Feb. $25c (51 delta, low OI) &/or Stock

Play Date: 11/05/2005
IMGC (Intermagnetics General--$30.88; +0.67; optionable): Industrial equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/imgc.html
STATUS: Double bottom. Volume started higher the past week as IMGC started off the 200 day SMA (27.26), the support for the second leg in its 17 week base. This base set up just below a new all time high, something of a base on base pattern with a double bottom with handle break out in June. Together they have formed something of a triangle. Good volume and we are ready to take positions on a continued run higher and then again on the test. Solid 5 to 3 accumulation in the current base. Solid pattern and top rated fundamentals as well.
Volume: 245.61K Avg Volume: 179.052K
BUY POINT: $31.22 Volume=230K Target=$37.45 Stop=$29.25
POSITION: IMG DF - Apr. $30c (57 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 11/05/2005
TGT (Target--$57.41; +0.61; optionable): Discounter
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/tgt.html
After Hours: $57.41
STATUS: Cup. TGT has formed the current 15 week base as it prepares for a new all-time high. It used the 200 day SMA (52.79) as support on the lows in the pattern, an important institutional support level. Volume has jumped as TGT has moved off the support. Solid 5 to 2 accumulation in the pattern and surging money flow to go with it. Looks solid for a breakout but we also may see a handle form here over the next three days.
Volume: 4.718M Avg Volume: 4.257M
BUY POINT: $58.24 Volume=5.6M Target=$66.95 Stop=$55.55
POSITION: TGT DL - Apr. $60c (51 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 11/06/2005
VRTX (Vertex Pharmaceuticals--$23.88; +0.09; optionable): Drugs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/v/vrtx.html
STATUS: Triangle. VRTX started the current run higher in May, doubling in price. It needed a breather and this 5 week triangle is giving it a break while this pattern builds pressure for another move higher. These tend to build on one another in strong stocks and the breakouts can be explosive. A nice doji with tail tapped the 10 day EMA (23.19) Friday, and that looks to have set the move. These patterns are like squeezing a watermelon seed: when they go they really go.
Volume: 1.095M Avg Volume: 1.489M
BUY POINT: $24.47 Volume=2M Target=$28.75 Stop=$23.05
POSITION: VQR DX - Apr. $22.50c (67 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cd/vrtx.html

Current play ready to make the move.

Play Date: 11/06/2005
NVDA (Nvidia--$34.06; -0.59; optionable): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nvda.html
After Hours: $33.98
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Nice test is shaping up, forming the handle to a very short 5 week base. A good consolidation pattern after the September breakout from its 6 month triangle. Looking for a hold of the 10 day EMA (33.46) and a rebound on solid trade.
Volume: 4.752M Avg Volume: 4.475M
BUY POINT: $34.55 Volume=6.7M Target=$39.88 Stop=$33.33
POSITION: UVA CT - Mar. $32.50c (65 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

AAPL, CELG, BR, COH, NVDA, PSYS, RTSX, STN, UNH

AAPL: Continues the juggernaut higher

BR: Making at test of the 50 day EMA, an important one to hold after the recovery from the October selling.

PSYS: Sold Friday, but volume was lower and below average, so it is still holding its uptrend nicely.

RTSX: Easing back to test the break higher. Good action and will provide us another entry point on the test.

UNH: We will see if that institutional selling is over. Lower volume Friday as UNH showed a doji at the 10 day EMA.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.

TFSM: Nice test of the 50 day EMA the past two weeks as TFSM consolidates after a strong run from June to September. Continues to show good money flow but it got a bit rocky Wednesday and Thursday and volume jumped as it did.
