THE PLAYS

Good moves: BGC; BMD; COHU; DBRN; LCAV

Tuesday night play results:
FORM: Volume fell off and it was not able to really make the break away move.
HURC: All over the map, gapping higher and trading in a 1.65 range. Needs to settle down
RVSN: Moving higher on continued strong volume.
COHU: Nice break off the 10 day EMA on strong volume.

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 11/30/2005
BOOM (Dynamic Materials--$24.32; +1.20; no options): Industrial metal cladding
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/boom.html
After Hours: $24.49
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. BOOM broke out in early November, moving higher on strong volume out of a 12 week cup base. It surged to near 28 and then dove sharply lower on earnings that apparently were not strong enough. The stock held the 50 day EMA (22.02), however, moving laterally for two weeks. Wednesday it jumped off the consolidation on strong, above average volume. Accumulation during the base formation is a strong 4 to 1 (4 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price weeks on rising volume). Looking for continued strong volume as the move progresses.
Volume: 1.75M Avg Volume: 1.386M
BUY POINT: $24.75 Volume=2.1M Target=$29.75 Stop=$23.05
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

Play Date: 11/30/2005
SMSC (Standard Microsystems--$29.9; +0.77; no options): Semiconductor equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/smsc.html
After Hours: $29.87
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. SMSC is a top rated chip equipment stock, and it is working in the 9 week handle to its 2 year base. A big pattern that is setting up for a big breakout. Volume has jumped back toward average this week as SMSC bounces along the 50 day EMA (28.35), its support in the handle. Strong money flow is setting the stage for the breakout. Look solid. Need to see the strong volume break higher that clearly shows the big buyers jumping in.
Volume: 210.301K Avg Volume: 254.527K
BUY POINT: $30.65 Volume=382K Target=$36.96 Stop=$28.77
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

Continuing plays ready to move:

Play Date: 11/28/2005
UPCS (Ubiquitel--$9.78; +0.02; optionable): Wireless telecom
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/u/upcs.html
After Hours: $9.78
STATUS: Flying plateau. Volume jumped back above average Wednesday as UPCS rallied to 9.94, but it could not hold the move by the close. Champing at the bit to continue the breakout move. To recap: UPCS shot higher to weeks back as another telecom (APCS) announced it was being acquired. That move broke it out of an 18 week triangle that formed using the 200 day SMA (8.05) as support on the lows. Outstanding 5 to 1 accumulation in the pattern (5 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price weeks on rising volume) shows lots of buying that set up the breakout. That accumulation will help propel it higher after it completes this test. Thought it would come back to the 10 day EMA (9.48), but it looks ready to head higher without a further test.
Volume: 1.034M Avg Volume: 905.545K
BUY POINT: $9.88 Volume=1.4M Target=$11.65 Stop=$9.28
POSITION: QQP CB - Mar. $10c (54 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cd/upcs.html

Play Date: 11/15/2005
WFR (Memc Electronic--$22.38; +0.56; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuits
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/w/wfr.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Looking at this one again as WFR showed tremendous volume Wednesday as WFR probed higher intraday toward the breakout. This is a leader in its sector, and we got excited seeing the volume surge. It is ready to break to a 5.5 year high, and we like that it is the leader in its sector. Looks very good.
Volume: 5.576M Avg Volume: 3.345M
BUY POINT: $23.35 Volume=4.9M Target=$27.65 Stop=$22
POSITION: WFR DX - Apr. $22.50c (54 delta) &/or Stock

SUBSCRIBER PORTFOLIO: These are stocks subscribers suggest by vote that we put in a portfolio to track and move into the stocks if they perform well. If you have any suggestions for additions or deletions, email us. We don't cover them all each report, just when something interesting is developing.

AAPL, CELG, BR, COH, NVDA, PSYS, RTSX, STN, UNH

BR: Suddenly sticky at the 50 day EMA (70.80) as volume jumps. Trying to form a handle to an 8 week double bottom that is trying to form up.

COH: Getting very wild the past week: up, down, up and then down, and much of that occurring on Wednesday. Strong volume as COH surged higher and then gave it all back and more. Needs to hold here near 34.

PSYS: Struggling between the 50 day EMA (55) and the 10 day EMA near 57.50. Holding up but not making any headway.

RTSX: Excellent volume surge as RTSX broke to a new all-time high.

SUBSCRIBER WATCHLIST

We continually receive ideas for potential plays from subscribers. Many times they are already on our watchlists, other times not. We always take a look and sometimes find a gem or two, or more. We don't necessarily endorse these, but want to provide a forum for subscribers with ideas that may appeal to other subscribers. We may just put on the ticker or we might describe our thoughts as to why or why not we think it is a buy or sell. This is a way we can all learn a bit more and maybe find a few more candidates to make us some good money.

MECA: Gaming activities. Broke out in early November from an 8 month cup with handle. It has come back the past three weeks to test, holding at the 18 day EMA. Volume then jumped Tuesday and was even stronger Wednesday as it surged off that level. Nice though fundamentally not that great.
