THE PLAYS
Good movers: ABC; CAM; CHS; DNA; PNRA; PWAV
Wednesday night play results:
CNQR: Volume surged Thursday as CNQR held a tight range over the 10 day EMA. Looks ready after this volume surge
CWTR: Still very nice, setting up for the jump higher.
GENZ: Another doji at the 50 day EMA
NWRE: Testing further, falling to the 18 day EMA. Not the base action but perhaps a good shakeout.
SMSC: Ready to continue the breakout.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 12/08/2005
AMHC (American Healthways--$46.84; +0.72; optionable): Health management services to health plans and hospitals. Forecast 12-21-05.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 11-19-03 at $41.20. Prior to that a 3:2 split on 10-29-01 at $37.50.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/amhc.html
STATUS: Breakout test. AMHC broke out from an 11 week cup with handle base to start December, jumping on a good surge of above average volume. It has spent the past week working more or less laterally, coming back intraday Thursday to test near the 10 day EMA (45.45) before posting a nice advance in a down market. The move took AMHC to a new all-time high, and after that break it needed to get its bearings. The Thursday move indicates it is ready to continue higher.

BRLI (Bio-Reference Labs--$18.87; -0.08; optionable): Medical labs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/b/brli.html
STATUS: Ascending base. Showing some good upside volume spokes the past week as BRLI bumps up against the breakout from a 10 week base that has made higher lows up the 50 day EMA (17.88) with a constant top at 19. This base is part of a larger 2 year double bottom with handle. Solid accumulation on this technically and fundamentally strong stock. Nice move to average volume Thursday as BRLI showed a doji just below the breakout point. Looks very good for a breakout. Looking to start a position on that move and then again after the first run and its first test.

BUY POINT: $19.21 Volume=173K Target=$23 Stop=$18.48

FTO (Frontier Oil--$41.51; +0.82; optionable): Oil and gas refining & marketing
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/fto.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Classically formed 11 week base with the right leg undercutting the left with a nice, tight laterally handle the past week on low, below average volume. Volume jumped up to average Thursday as the stock moved to the top of the handle, indicating the breakout is fast approaching. Positive accumulation has set up the breakout and now it just has to show us the move. Made us some great money in its strong breakout and run in August and September before falling into this base. Another great set up for a breakout and run once more.

OIS (Oil States Int.--$36.52; +1.45; optionable): Oil and gas services and equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/ois.html
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Strong volume Thursday as OIS started the breakout from its 14 week base that formed around the 50 day EMA (33.16), using that key level as support to build the base. Excellent 4 to 0 accumulation in the pattern (4 up price weeks on rising volume to 0 down price weeks on rising volume) shows nothing but buying as the stock consolidated. Now it is starting the move, following the strong money flow higher. Looks excellent.

POSITION: OIS CG - Mar. $35c (67 delta) &/or Stock
