Full report Thursday.
THE PLAYS:
Good Movers: CELL; CLF; DRI; JEC; RJF
New Post-Split Plays:
Play Date: 01/25/2006
WFT (Weatherford International--$42.74; -0.94; optionable): Oil and gas service company
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/w/wft.html
After Hours: $43.70
STATUS: Breakout test. WFT is making its second test of the breakout from its 14 week cup with handle base, fading back to the 10 day EMA (42.03), tapping that level on the Wednesday low and rebounding modestly to the close. Energy stocks were generally under pressure Wednesday after a strong move higher, and we like that WFT fell back on continued below average volume. Service companies are the hottest of the group. Looking for WFT to maybe tap at the 10 day EMA once more and then start back up and continue the breakout rally.
Volume: 3.524M Avg Volume: 4.594M
BUY POINT: $43.25 Volume=5.5M Target=$49.95 Stop=$41.89
POSITION: WFT EA - May $42.50c (63 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 01/25/2006
STT (State Street--$59.90; +0.92; optionable): Northwest regional bank
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/stt.html
STATUS: Ascending base. Gapped higher Wednesday on strong volume, starting the breakout move from its 8 week base. The move is taking STT to a 5 year high, giving it room to run without resistance. Volume swelled the past week, just what you want to see before a breakout move. Solid 3 to 0 accumulation in the base (3 up price weeks on rising volume to 0 down price weeks on rising volume) and surging money flow go hand in hand. Relative strength broke out with the stock, a very good indication the breakout was solid.
Volume: 3.018M Avg Volume: 1.615M
BUY POINT: $60.35 Volume=1.6M Target=$69.45 Stop=$58.38
POSITION: STT EL - May $60c (55 delta) &/or Stock
