THE PLAYS

Good movers: ADAM; HYDL; IVAC; KOMG; LRCX; NUAN; PWAV; OVTI

Tuesday night play results:
MINI: Gapped higher but faded to close lower on lower volume.
NURO: Another nice doji at the 10 day EMA
LRCX: Starting higher on rising volume.
OVTI: Jumping higher but on disappointing volume.
CVH: Reached well below the 50 day EMA and recovered. Not the best action, but holding the pattern.
RATE: Doji at the 18 day EMA.

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 02/08/2006
PETS (PetMed Express--$18; +0.52; optionable): Mail order pet prescriptions
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pets.html
After Hours: $18
STATUS: Flying plateau. After a strong break higher in mid-January on a strong earnings report, PETS peaked out at 18 and have since moved laterally the past two weeks as the 10 day EMA (17.48) caught up with the stock move. PETS broke out from a long base in November and has rallied since, making periodic tests. Nice plateau on low, below average volume, refusing to give back the gains. Sign of a strong stock. PETS is a market leader with surging sales and earnings growth and now ready for a new all-time high.

PSSI (PSS World Medical--$17.51; +0.23; optionable): Medical equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pssi.html
After Hours: $17.52
STATUS: Breakout test. Low volume test of the late January breakout from a 7 week base that formed using the 50 day EMA (16.12) as support. This base formed on the heels of a larger 15 week base and breakout, a nice base on base formation. Positive accumulation set the stage for the breakout. Strong money flow complements the accumulation. Nice test and now looking for a volume rebound as PSSI continues the breakout move.

Play Date: 02/04/2006
MCHP (Microchip--$36.69; -0.08; optionable): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mchp.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Still in the low volume test of the strong January run that took MCHP to a new all-time high. Tapping the 18 day EMA (36.19) on the lows and closing at the 10 day EMA as money flow continues to hold strong along with relative strength. Being patient, waiting for it to show us the rebound on a strong volume surge.

MGI (Moneygram Intl.--$27.56; +0.81; no options): Payment systems
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mgi.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. MGI is moving toward the breakout from its 10 week base that formed at the 50 day EMA (26.13), setting up the breakout to a new all-time high (a new issue in July 2004). Just needs some more volume. Very solid.

NVDA (Nvidia--$44.91; +1.26; optionable): Semiconductors
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nvda.html
After Hours: $44.66
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. Moving laterally along the 18 day EMA (43.84) on continued low volume, setting up for the break to a new 4 year high. Strong leader with money flow moving higher. Just waiting for volume to return as NVDA turns higher as well.

http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rate.html
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. Nice low volume doji at the 18 day EMA (35.55) Wednesday as RATE looks to have completed the test of the strong January move. Strong money flow is leading higher. Looks to be ready to resume the move.
Volume: 117.193K Avg Volume: 213.438K
BUY POINT: $36.65 Volume=317K Target=$43.95 Stop=$35.28

Play Date: 02/04/2006
SIMO (Silicon Motion Technology--$15.74; -0.09; no options): Semiconductors for multimedia consumer electronics
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/simo.html
After Hours: $15.72
STATUS: Breakout test. SIMO continues the nice test of the breakout, tapping the 18 day EMA (15.06) on the intraday low and rebounding to hold the 10 day EMA (15.61) on the close. Volume edged up on the test and rebound but was still below average. Setting up well for another run from this solid pattern. To recap: A nice 15 week double bottom formed and broke higher in late January. A new issue in June 2005, this is SIMO's first base and it is a nice one. After this intraday test lower and rebound, the sellers are likely shaken out, setting up the continued move higher.
Volume: 434.44K Avg Volume: 484.049K
BUY POINT: $16.55 Volume=717K Target=$19.88 Stop=$15.39
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

AAPL, CELG, BR, COH, NVDA, PSYS, RTSX, STN, UNH

AAPL: Fighting back a bit more but on lower volume. Losing the rebound momentum.

NVDA: Still working laterally along the 18 day EMA.

PSYS: Big reach lower to the 50 day EMA and rebound to close flat. Getting a bit too volatile here.

RTSX: Rebounding off the 200 day SMA and moving better after hours.

STN: Driving you insane with its erratic action. Strong volume rebound to the 200 day SMA.

UNH: Big drop lower to the 200 day SMA and then a furious rebound. Still not in great shape.
