THE PLAYS

Good movers: ABAX; ADM; INFA; LSTR; NVDA; WFR

Weekend play results:
CHRS: Good shakeout to the 18 day EMA and rebound
LSTR: Nice volume as it broke higher.
MDRX: Still solid and ready to move.
PRFT: Strong volume as it gathers for the breakout move.
PWAV: Stronger volume but needs more on the next move higher.

New Plays:

Upside:

Play Date: 02/27/2006
CMVT (Comverse Technology--$29.04; +0.32; optionable): Telecom processing systems
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cmvt.html
After Hours: $29.03
STATUS: Ascending base. Nice 23 week base that set up the breakout with a strong rally in February and now a nice, low volume the past week, as the 10 day EMA (28.48) ran to catch up with it. Volume jumped Monday as CMVT flirted with the breakout. Outstanding 8 to 2 accumulation (8 up price weeks on rising volume to 2 down price weeks on rising volume) shows all buying during the base. Strong money flow complements the accumulation, rallying higher ahead of price. Relative strength is making the breakout, a very good indication for the stock. Ready to move in on the continued break higher.
Volume: 2.423M Avg Volume: 1.855M
BUY POINT: $29.25 Volume=2M Target=$35 Stop=$28.22
POSITION: CQV GF - July $30c (53 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 02/27/2006
MEDX (Medarex--$15.43; +0.78; optionable): Biotechnology
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/medx.html
After Hours: $15.42
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. MEDX is making a move to a 3.5 year high, rallying off the 50 day EMA (13.21) after a 7 week cup with handle formed to consolidate the 20 month ascending triangle base breakout in mid-December. Solid 3 to 1 accumulation in the smaller more recent pattern shows solid buying. Money flow is surging as well. Relative strength is moving toward the breakout as well. This is the right sector for the market right now.
Volume: 1.435M Avg Volume: 1.474M
BUY POINT: $15.78 Volume=2M Target=$18.97 Stop=$14.89
POSITION: MWM HC - Aug. $15c (64 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 02/27/2006
TRAD (Tradestation--$16.50; +0.40; optionable): Investment brokerage
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/trad.html
After Hours: $16.62
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. TRAD broke out from a 22 month cup with handle base in November and three big runs on the move. This month it came back to the 50 day EMA (15.24) to reset the move for the next run higher. Volume backed off the past week as it worked laterally over the 50 day and below the 18 day EMA (16.06). It then spiked higher Monday as TRAD rallied to 16.95. It gave half the move back but still looks ready to continue the run. A top stock in growth of sales and earnings.
Volume: 1.971M Avg Volume: 866.811K
BUY POINT: $16.77 Volume=1M Target=$20.25 Stop=$15.85
POSITION: ULR FC - June $15c (73 delta) &/or Stock

Current plays ready to move:

Play Date: 02/07/2006
OVTI (Omnivision Technologies--$25.93; +0.53; optionable): Semiconductor integrated circuits
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/ovti.html
After Hours: $25.81
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. Ready for another move off the 18 day EMA (25.47) after the early December breakout from a 9 month cup with handle base. Money flow is leading the move higher even as OVTI moves in a tight, narrow lateral range over near support. Looking for that volume surge as it continues the run.
Volume: 2.016M Avg Volume: 2.888M
BUY POINT: $26.05 Volume=3M Target=$30.88 Stop=$25.25
POSITION: UCM FE - June $25c (57 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cd/ovti.html

Play Date: 02/08/2006
PSSI (PSS World Medical--$17.6; +0.24; optionable): Medical equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/pssi.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Still working laterally on low, below average volume above the 18 day EMA (17.34) following the late January breakout from its short but sweet 7 week base. It has stretched out about as far as it is going to go. Volume is still low, but it looks ready to make its move as its sector heats up again.
Volume: 257.8K Avg Volume: 490.584K
BUY POINT: $17.89 Volume=781K Target=$21.47 Stop=$16.95
POSITION: QYP EW - May $17.50c (53 delta) &/or Stock

AAPL, BRCM, CELG, COH, FFIV, GME, MRVL, NVDA, PSYS, UNH

AAPL: Trying to hold the 50 day EMA after breaking back above that level last week. Key hold of key support here.

CELG: No complaints as it rallies through the split.

COH: Still looks ready, just hasn't realized it yet.

FFIV: Nice.

MRVL: Holding the 50 day EMA once more after last week's earnings failed to jump it higher.

PSYS: Volume moved up to average as PSYS started off the 18 day EMA.
