us stock market, stock split
Begin part 3 of 3
We apologize for the tardy delivery of part 3. A water pipe from the office above ours broke and we had to find higher ground. Time to find a new office lease.
THE PLAYS:
New Pre-Split Plays: New buy point on current position
Play Date: 03/07/2006
NVDA (Nvidia--$48.22; -0.84; optionable): Semiconductors. Splits 3:2 on 3-28-06
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nvda.html
After Hours: $48.4
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. Nice reach down to the 18 day EMA (46.98) on the low and a recovery to close at the 10 day EMA (47.86). It is in a continuing uptrend, breaking out from a short 6 week base in late February. Nice test of that move is setting up the further run higher.
Volume: 5.052M Avg Volume: 4.15M
BUY POINT: $49.25 Volume=6.2M Target=$56.95 Stop=$46.78
POSITION: UVA FZ - June $47.50c (59 delta) &/or Stock

New Post-Split Plays: New buy points on current positions
Play Date: 03/07/2006
CELL (Brightpoint--$28.4; -0.98; optionable): Cellular products and accessories, logistic services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cell.html
STATUS: Flying plateau. During the market selling CELL has moved laterally, consolidating the strong February move that put some nice change in our pocket. Mostly low, below average volume during the three week lateral move, using the 10 day EMA (28.53) as support. The lack of selling shows it remains strong. Solid upside volume Monday shows there is still accumulation. May take a few more sessions but if we see a strong break higher we are looking to add some positions.
Volume: 595.576K Avg Volume: 785.646K
BUY POINT: $29.57 Volume=1M Target=$35.48 Stop=$27.57
POSITION: ULN GF - July $30c (54 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/cell.html
Play Date: 03/07/2006
TRID (Trident Microsystems--$27.35; -0.81; optionable): Semiconductor
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/trid.html
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. TRID is making its third test of the 18 day EMA (27.24) after a 50 day EMA test (24.60) in late December. That test followed a strong breakout earlier that month that got caught in the market selling. It didn't lose any momentum and started this run. It has at least 2 more moves off the short term moving averages, and we are looking for it to hold this level and rebound on strong volume. Volume did jump up toward average Tuesday as it undercut the 18 day EMA but then rebounded to hold it. That shows some buyers stepping in on the test.
Volume: 1.662M Avg Volume: 1.705M
BUY POINT: $28.11 Volume=2M Target=$33.75 Stop=$26.85
POSITION: HVU GE - July $25c (72 delta) &/or Stock

Leader Play:
Play Date: 03/07/2006
SILC (Silicom Ltd.--$10.95; -0.64; no options): PC networking and communication
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/silc.html
STATUS: Breakout test. SILC broke higher in early February from a 10 week ascending base, rising on sharp trade. It is making the second test of that breakout, coming back to the 10 day EMA (10.98) on lower volume the past two sessions. Solid 3 to 1 accumulation in the base (3 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price weeks on rising volume), showing nice buying as the stock consolidated. That set up the breakout. SILC should make 4 bounces up off the 10 or 18 day EMA on this run. Looking for a solid volume shot as it bounces higher from this test. Strong money flow to go with the accumulation, and relative strength broke out as well, a good corroboration of the price move.
Volume: 78.658K Avg Volume: 100K
BUY POINT: $11.39 Volume=155K Target=$13.75 Stop=$10.59
POSITION: - Stock (no option chain)

PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT PLAYS
Current Pre-Announcement Plays: Lots of stocks still in position for split announcements. We have some good information on many though some are wild cards, i.e. no split history but hearing word of a possible split announcement. All are good leadership quality stocks that can make us money if they show us the breakout moves.
This is a list of stocks we are looking to announce splits. We are not in all of the potential splits plays but are letting them set up for the next move. In each report we look at the candidates that are in the best patterns ahead of their potential announcements. This focus on leaders in good patterns allows us to make good money even if companies do not announce the split. The key with splits is the pattern.
ANN: Forecast 3-10-06
ANSS: Researching exact date.
BLUD: Researching date.
BR: Forecast 4-27-06
CEPH: Just announced earnings in February, but like the pattern.
CNQ: Forecast 3-16-06. Struggling a bit but holding the 50 day EMA.
CRDN: New information: Forecast to announce a split 3-9-06. Crashed lower through the 18 day EMA.
CTSH: New information: Forecast 3-8-06. No split announcement but like the doji at the 18 day EMA. It could be a springboard for this strong stock to rebound.
DAKT: Researching to pinpoint the date.
DBRN: Announced the split after hours.
DRI: Forecast 3-20-06. Had to close it out earlier in the week and it dove to the 50 day EMA Tuesday
FRK: Forecast 4-25-06 after the close or 5-3-06
GG: Forecast 3-10-06
GS: Forecast 3-16-06 before the open.
IEX: Tentatively forecast for third week of April. Setting up nicely
JEC: Forecast 4-25-06. Bombs away. Tanked to the 50 day EMA with many construction companies.
LEH: Forecast 3-16-06 before the open.
LM: Researching to pinpoint a date. Right now it looks like late April. Struggling hard.
MATR: Researching to pinpoint the exact date.
MSCC: Forecast 4-27-06. Tough day at the office.
ODP: No split announcement in late January. ODP continues to move higher above the 10 day EMA on stronger volume.
PNRA: Forecast 4-12-06
POOL: Researching next date
VMC: Tentatively set for late April. Sold through the 18 day EMA on volume. Needs to show us a recovery.
New Pre-Announcement Plays:
Play Date: 03/07/2006
GILD (Gilead Sciences--$59.09; -0.41; optionable): Biotechnology. Forecast to announce a split in April.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 7-28-04 at $58.30
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/gild.html
After Hours: $58.52
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. After a nice run up the 18 day EMA (60.51) following a breakout from a 6 week base in early January, GILD tested back to the 50 day EMA (58.56) this past week on low, below average volume. After a breakout and run up the 18 day EMA a stock will come back to test the 50 day to reset the move. If all is well it will continue the run higher with a nice volume surge and then run up the 18 day EMA once more. Like the way it faded on low volume as that shows no real selling; used the market selling to consolidate and set up for the next move. Approaching its split price.
Volume: 2.478M Avg Volume: 3.9M
BUY POINT: $60.68 Volume=4.8M Target=$69.95 Stop=$58.32
POSITION: GDQ HL - Aug. $60c (55 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/csgild.html
Play Date: 03/07/2006
PLCE (Childrens Place--$51.16; +0.6; optionable): Apparel stores. Researching to pinpoint the date.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 2-4-2000 at $48.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/plce.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. PLCE gapped higher last week on strong volume, completing the right side of its 11 week base. It has moved laterally the past three sessions on lower trade, forming the handle. This follows a 6 month cup base; nice base on base pattern setting PLCE for the breakout to a new all-time high. Excellent 5 to 2 accumulation in the base shows solid buying. Good complement to the strong money flow racing higher.
Volume: 730.065K Avg Volume: 669.687K
BUY POINT: $51.88 Volume=1M Target=$59.95 Stop=$48.39
POSITION: TUY FJ - June $50c (55 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/plce.html
New buy points on current positions:
Play Date: 03/07/2006
CEPH (Cephalon--$79.14; -2.14; optionable): Drugs.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/ceph.html
BACKGROUND: No splits in CEPH's history.
STATUS: Breakout test. CEPH broke higher from a 7 week base to end February. It rallied last week and then started a nice easy fade this week to test that break higher. Tuesday it tapped at the 18 day EMA (77.49) on the low and recovered to close near the 10 day EMA (79.26). May take another day or two but it looks ready to resume the move higher. Wan to see that volume return as it resumes the breakout run. Strong money flow is running higher and relative strength broke out as well. Top rated stock in technical pattern and fundamentals.
Volume: 1.496M Avg Volume: 2.914M
BUY POINT: $80.25 Volume=3.2M Target=$95.95 Stop=$77.32
POSITION: CQE HP - Aug. $80c (53 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/ceph.html
Continuing Pre-Announcement Plays:
Play Date: 03/04/2006
ANSS (Ansys--$47.42; +0.14; optionable): Engineering simulation software for aerospace, auto, electronics, biomedical industries. Researching to pinpoint a date, but wanted to get it on with this breakout test.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 8-5-04 at $45.70.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/anss.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Gapped lower Tuesday but held the 18 day EMA (46.71) as it continues its nice, easy test of the strong breakout. Has used the market selling to consolidate the breakout; nice action. To recap: ANSS surged higher in mid-February on strong earnings and an acquisition. That broke it out from a 13 week reverse head and shoulders base, sending ANSS to a new all-time high. It eased back to end January and start February, falling on low volume to test and hold the 10 and 18 day EMA.
Volume: 131.035K Avg Volume: 324.32K
BUY POINT: $48.89 Volume=475K Target=$56.95 Stop=$47.31
POSITION: QUS GJ - July $50c (51 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/anss.html
Play Date: 03/04/2006
DAKT (Daktronics--$35.09; +0.01; optionable): Scientific and technical instruments. Just announced earnings on 2-15-06. Researching to pinpoint the date, but really like this low volume test so did not want to wait.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 5-24-01 at $29.20. Before that a 2:1 split on 12-7-99 at $24.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/d/dakt.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Excellent test of the 10 day EMA (34.95) continues on overall lower volume. Another nice doji at the 10 day EMA Tuesday as DAKT refuses to sell off. Ready to make the rebound. To recap: DAKT got a case of the dips in mid-February, crashing through the 50 day EMA (31.90) when it reported earnings. It was a one-day affair, however, as earnings were solid and DAKT shot right back up, breaking out anew from a 6 week lateral base. It spent the past two weeks easing back on low volume to the 10 day EMA, holding that level the past week. Strong money flow is leading higher even as DAKT makes the test. Very strong market leader with excellent fundamentals to set the stage for the next move to a new all-time high.
Volume: 88.82K Avg Volume: 112.595K
BUY POINT: $35.81 Volume=168K Target=$41.95 Stop=$34.64
POSITION: QKC GG - July $35c (60 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/dakt.html
CONTINUING POST-SPLIT PLAYS:
Play Date: 03/04/2006
QCOM (Qualcom--$47.86; +0.62; optionable): Telecom equipment and licensing
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/q/qcom.html
After Hours: $48.09
STATUS: Reverse head and shoulders. Upped its guidance and was ready to move. Unfortunately the market was not happy with techs or telecoms after the TXN news and all QCOM could muster was a big doji over the 18 day EMA (47.46). Still very nice pattern and it just needs some relief from the market selling to move higher. To recap: A nice little 8 week accumulation base has formed, using the 50 day EMA (46.84) as support for the 'head.' This base consolidates the January breakout and rally from QCOM's larger base, one that started in December 2004. Positive 3 to 1 accumulation in the current base shows plenty of buying above the 50 day EMA, a key support level. Strong money flow. A current leader in this market, showing strong fundamentals to go with its pattern that is ready to break to a 5 year high.
Volume: 23.361M Avg Volume: 13.172M
BUY POINT: $48.88 Volume=19M Target=$57.95 Stop=$46.55
POSITION: AAO GW - July $47.50c (59 delta) &/or Stock
