Begin part 3 of 3
THE PLAYS
Good movers: ADM; BMRN; CELG; CHE; CTXS; DRIV; EZPW; FFIF; MGI; QCOM; STLD; WFR
Thursday night play results:
ANDS: Held steady on the session, still poised to move higher
DO: Charged higher again but then ran out of gas.
TKC: Nice doji over the 10 day EMA
SMH: Reached lower but rebounded to recoup most of the loss as overall market rallied. Still ready to fall.
New Plays:
Upside:
Play Date: 03/18/2006
ARO (Aeropostale--$31.13; +0.53; optionable): Teen apparel.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 3:2 split on 3-11-04 at $33.30.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/aro.html
After Hours: $31.20
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Volume has spiked up on 4 occasions this month as ARO put together upside moves on the last three. This occurred in the handle of its big 9 month base, the handle taking up the past three months as ARO moves laterally over the 50 day EMA (28.91). Those volume spikes show ongoing accumulation and are telling us to get ready for the breakout. Indeed, ARO started higher Friday on a strong volume move. May have been an expiration thing, but we like the 3:1 accumulation in the handle (3 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price weeks on rising volume) and the strong money flow. Looking for a continued move this week to deliver us the breakout and the entry point.

CNQR (Concur Technologies--$16.23; +0.46; optionable): Corporate expense management software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cnqr.html
After Hours: $16.24
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. Taking another run at CNQR after it makes another test of the 50 day EMA (15.43), setting up something of a handle/shakeout to its short 8 week base formed after the January sprint higher. A strong market leader with excellent fundamentals to go with its strong technical pattern. Positive accumulation and surging money flow have set the table. Volume surged back above average Friday as CNQR moved off the 50 day SMA. Nice test and set up very well to continue the move higher.

NTES (Netease.com--$90; -0.88; optionable): Broad-based Chinese internet portal
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/ntes.html
After Hours: $90
STATUS: Test breakout. NTES has come back well, forming a much needed 5.5 month cup with handle base following the strong 2005 run. Wednesday NTES broke out from that base on strong, above average volume. NTES ended the week with a modest, low volume test, tapping at the 10 day EMA (87.95) on the low and rebounding to show a doji. That indicates there is support for the breakout. We are ready to move in as NTES resumes last week's breakout move. Solid 6 to 2 accumulation in the base shows buyers easily outnumbering the sellers during the base. After this test NTES will be ready for more, and it can fly when it gets underway. Excellent fundamentals growth backs up the pattern and the breakout.
Volume: 674.476K Avg Volume: 876.685K
BUY POINT: $91.38 Volume=1M Target=$106.65 Stop=$87.78
POSITION: NQG IS - Sept. $95c (53 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 03/18/2006
NWRE (Neoware--$25.34; -0.17; optionable): PC networking and software solutions for corporations
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/n/nwre.html
After Hours: $25.26
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Volume screamed higher Monday as news that NWRE was to be added to the SP600 hit the wire. It continued to drift higher and then eased back to tap the 10 day EMA (24.88) on the Friday intraday low. This market leader looks to have found the bottom of its 10 week base that is consolidating a strong 5 month run through the end of January. The base has formed around the 50 day EMA (24.51) and accumulation is positive. Looks as if it can take another 2 to 3 sessions to complete the test/handle, but it is ready to move and we want to be ready to move in as well when it does.
Volume: 311.509K Avg Volume: 795.131K
BUY POINT: $26.21 Volume=1.2M Target=$31.45 Stop=$24.55
POSITION: QQA IE - Sept. $25c (58 delta) &/or Stock

New buy point on current position:
Play Date: 03/18/2006
FFIV (F5 Networks--$69.93; +1.86; optionable): Worldwide internet traffic management software and services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/f/ffiv.html
STATUS: Breakout test. After breaking higher in late February and early March, FFIV came back to test, tapping at the 50 day EMA (63.55) intraday and then rebounding. It has moved up since and is now on the threshold of a new high on this move, matching the early March highs. A strong leader with great fundamentals is ready to make the next break higher. FFIV broke out from a 10 month base in January and then formed a 2 month ascending triangle on top of that breakout; a very bullish pattern. We want to be ready as it resumes the move.
Volume: 756.327K Avg Volume: 1.109M
BUY POINT: $70.65 Volume=1.2M Target=$81.95 Stop=$66.72
POSITION: FLK GN - July $70c (58 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/ci/ffiv.html
Downside:
Play Date: 03/18/2006
TALX (Talx Corp.--$29.46; -0.73; optionable): Business software services
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/talx.html
STATUS: Put. Peaked in early January and made another run at the high in early January, setting up a nice looking base. It could not sustain the breakout, however, turning lower and diving through the 50 day EMA on strong volume. It spent the past two weeks rebounding to test that breakdown, moving on very low, below average volume. Friday that started to fail as TALX broke lower on volume that shot back up above average. Money flow is working lower ahead of price. Looking to move in on further downside; a run to the target lands us a 40%ish gain.
Volume: 598.5K Avg Volume: 550K
BUY POINT: $29.22 Volume=550K Target=$26.72 Stop=$30.48
POSITION: TUB QF - May $30p (-49 delta)
