Begin part 3 of 3
THE PLAYS:
Good movers: ATHR; ATW; CTSH; CX; DBRN; DO; NVDA; PNRA; RMD; SLAB
New Pre-Split Plays: The energy stocks are setting up well once more ahead of the summer drive.
Play Date: 04/04/2006
AHC (Amerada Hess--$144.54; +3.82; optionable): Oil and gas refining. Splits 3:1 on a date to be announced
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/ahc.html
After Hours: $144.54
STATUS: 50 day EMA test. Volume has kicked up the past three sessions as AHC starts to find some footing at the 50 day EMA (140.53). It has worked laterally along that level for the past 7 weeks after coming back for a test following its January breakout from a 14 week base. Strong 4 to 1 accumulation (4 up price weeks on rising volume to 1 down price weeks on rising volume) shows plenty of buying as it consolidates. Bounced up to the interim resistance at 145 Tuesday. Want to see this better trade continue as it moves through the buy point. As with many energy stocks, it is setting up for a rally ahead of the summer driving season.
Volume: 1.129M Avg Volume: 1.536M
BUY POINT: $146.25 Volume=2M Target=$164.50 Stop=$142.65
POSITION: IGG HG - Aug. $150c (50 delta)

Play Date: 04/04/2006
HAL (Halliburton--$75.20; +2.33; optionable): Oil and gas services. Splits 2:1 on a date to be announced
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/h/hal.html
After Hours: $75.15
STATUS: Cup w/handle. Has set up a nice handle the past week, using the 50 day SMA (72.05) as support. This move follows the run higher from the March low at 65, setting up the breakout from its 9 week base. The base formed after running to a new high in January when it broke out from the previous base, a 13 week pattern. Tuesday HAL jumped off support and started the breakout. Volume was not that great; want to see more trade as it continues but it is set up well to give us a pre-split run as summer and the driving season approach.
Volume: 6.079M Avg Volume: 8.02M
BUY POINT: $75.75 Volume=8.5M Target=$85.00 Stop=$71.95
POSITION: HAL GO - July $75c (57 delta) &/or Stock

New Post-Split Plays:
Play Date: 04/04/2006
THQI (THQ, Inc.--$26.18; +0.06; optionable): Electronic game software
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/thqi.html
STATUS: Cup w/handle. In January THQI rallied to match its all-time high. After that run it needed a breather and fell into the current 12 week base. It used the prior November and December range as its support to form this base, a good indication that breakout will hold. It rallied then came back to the 50 day EMA (25.07) to form the handle, the final shakeout prior to the breakout. Has moved back to the top of the range and looks ready to show us the breakout. Strong money flow is running higher and accumulation is a strong 4 to 1.
Volume: 822.537K Avg Volume: 968.764K
BUY POINT: $26.75 Volume=1.5M Target=$31.88 Stop=$25.00
POSITION: QHI IE - Sept. $25c (65 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/thqi.html
New buy point on current post-split position:
Play Date: 03/27/2006
RMD (Resmed--$44.01; +0.86; optionable): Medical appliances and equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rmd.html
STATUS: Test breakout. RMD sold back Monday but on lower trade. Tuesday it reached all the way down below the 18 day EMA (42.72), but then rebounded on stronger volume to post a nice gain. Looks ready to continue the move and we are ready to add to positions as it continues. To recap: RMD broke out from a 17 week base last week, surging on huge trade. It peaked out near 45 and then came back to test the 10 day EMA (43.34) and on down to the 18 day EMA Tuesday. After this test it is ready for the rebound that takes it to a new all-time high. Outstanding 8 to 2 accumulation in the base (8 up price weeks on rising volume to 2 down price weeks on rising volume) shows heavy buying along with the strong buying.
Volume: 380.6K Avg Volume: 509.043K
BUY POINT: New positions: 44.25 (orig. $43.95) Volume=600K Target=$50.95 Stop=$42.45
POSITION: RMD GH - July $40c (65 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/rmd.html
Leader Play:
Play Date: 03/04/2006
RMBS (Rambus--$38.72; -0.42; optionable): Semiconductor memory chips
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rmbs.html
After Hours: $38.95
STATUS: Test breakout. Unlike many of the chips, RMBS is a leader that keeps on moving higher. It broke out form a nicely formed 9 week cup with handle in mid-March and rallied to 40. It is now making its first test of that move, easing back to the 10 day EMA (38.10) on lower and lower volume, showing a doji Tuesday above that level. It may take another session to complete the test. Strong leader. Looking to move in on this first test of the breakout; when it rebounds that shows the buyers are willing to buy at this higher price.
Volume: 2.61M Avg Volume: 7.146M
BUY POINT: $33.79 Volume=9.8M Target=$41.55 Stop=$37.95
POSITION: BNQ EF - May $30c (66 delta) or BNQ HG - July $35c (55 delta) &/or Stock

New Pre-Announcement Plays:
Play Date: 04/04/2006
LEH (Lehman Brothers--$147.13; +2.31; optionable): Investment brokerage. Tentatively forecast 6-14-06
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split on 9-20-00 at $144.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/l/leh.html
STATUS: Flat base. Working laterally the past 7 weeks, letting the 50 day EMA (141.77) rise to meet it and give its support. This move follows a strong mid-February surge, forming the next base following the late 2005 flat base that led to a 20 point run. After a test lower last week LEH has crept back up and used the 18 day EMA (144) as support on its intraday test Tuesday before bouncing for a nice gain. Looking for volume to continue higher as LEH moved up through the buy point. Solid 3 to 1 accumulation shows buying as it consolidated for the next move.
Volume: 2.152M Avg Volume: 2.205M
BUY POINT: $148.25 Volume=3M Target=$167.00 Stop=$144.21
POSITION: LES GJ - July 150c (54 delta)

Play Date: 04/04/2006
MRO (Marathon Oil--$78.12; +1.42; optionable): Oil & gas refining/marketing. Forecast to announce a split 4-27-06.
BACKGROUND: No splits in MRO's history, but in the range other energy stocks are announcing.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/m/mro.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Back on the report after ironing out some of its difficulties and setting up once more for a solid break higher to a new all-time high. Came back to test the 18 day EMA (75.77) last week and bounced. Tuesday MRO was close to the breakout though volume faded even further below the 50 day EMA. Looking for that volume to jump as MRO makes the breakout. Used the 50 day EMA (72.75) as support for both legs in its 9 week base, a sign of institutional support. Solid 4 to 2 accumulation shows net buying during the base building process, setting up the breakout and run higher. Friday MRO tried the breakout move but gave it back.
Volume: 2.307M Avg Volume: 3.259M
BUY POINT: $78.65 Volume=4.5M Target=$90.00 Stop=$75.65
POSITION: MRO GO - July $75c (69 delta) &/or Stock

Current Pre-Announcement Play:
Play Date: 04/01/2006
RIMM (Research in Motion--$86.28; +0.83; optionable): Blackberry communications devices. Forecast to announce a split 4-6-06.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 2:1 split 4-7-04 at $108.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rimm.html
After Hours: $86.40
STATUS: Test breakout. Solid bounce in volume (back to average) Tuesday as RIMM gapped modestly lower but rebounded for a gain. Setting up well and ready to move higher. To recap: Might be a bit early on RIMM, but with its patent suit settlement it will be ready to put on some positive news for its shareholders, and a split is a good way to do that. RIMM is testing back to the 18 day EMA (83.52) the past two weeks, consolidating its two good moves this month as its patent infringement case came to a resolution. The move took it out of a 6 month cup base that was part of a larger 16 month base showing strong 18 to 11 accumulation. Nice test below a new all-time closing high, setting up the next run higher. Strong money flow continues to run higher ahead of price.
Volume: 5.755M Avg Volume: 5.642M
BUY POINT: $86.88 Volume=8.5M Target=$99.95 Stop=$82.42
POSITION: GQR JQ - Oct. $85c (49 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/rimm.html
Play Date: 03/28/2006
RIG (Transocean--$81.99; +1.74; optionable): Oil and gas drilling. Forecast 5-4-06 before the open.
BACKGROUND: No splits in RIG'S 12 year history, but it is at the level many of its fellow energy stocks are announcing.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/r/rig.html
After Hours: $81.75
STATUS: Ascending base. Tested down to the 18 day EMA (79.84) Tuesday and then rebounded to post a nice gain. Volume was up but still below average. Heading for the breakout but want to see that trade continue to rise as it moves through the buy point. To recap: To recap: Nice volume this week as RIG gapped higher Tuesday over the March highs. A very quiet 8 week base with mostly below average volume. Positive accumulation as RIG sets up for a new high. Looking for that continued volume as RIG keeps the breakout move going.
Volume: 4.778M Avg Volume: 6.373M
BUY POINT: $82.65 Volume=8M Target=$96.00 Stop=$79.54
POSITION: RIG HQ - Aug. $85c (50 delta) &/or Stock
http://www.investmenthouse.com/cs/rig.html
CONTINUING POST-SPLIT PLAYS:
Play Date: 03/25/2006
APH (Amphenol Corp.--$52.00; +0.16; optionable): Electrical, electronic, fiber optic connectors, etc.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/aph.html
STATUS: Ascending base. Strong price move last Wednesday but no volume that day. Volume perked up the next three session as APH worked laterally, holding its gain and waiting for the 10 day EMA (51.37) to rise up to meet it. Still looks super in its pattern and ready to break higher. To recap: A market leader setting up a nice breakout for a new all-time high. APH has worked laterally the past 10 weeks, making higher and higher lows above the 50 day EMA (49.07) below a constant top that ranges roughly up to 52. Jumped higher last week and now setting up the next break that will take it out of the pattern. Nice base sporting strong 3 to 0 accumulation (3 up price weeks on rising volume to 0 down price weeks on rising volume) shows plenty of buying, a good complement to the strong money flow. This move is consolidating the mid-January breakout from another nice base, a 6.5 month cup with handle.
Volume: 431.1K Avg Volume: 481.905K
BUY POINT: New: $52.72 (orig. $51.88) Volume=725K Target=$60.95 Stop=$49.25
POSITION: APH GJ - July $50c (54 delta) &/or Stock
