THE PLAYS:
New Pre-Split Plays:
Play Date: 05/18/2006
GRMN (Garmin Ltd.--$86.50; -1.30; optionable): GPS devices. Splits 2:1 on 12-15-06
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/g/grmn.html
After Hours: $86.51
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. Okay, right back on. After the Wednesday plunge GRMN fell some more Thursday, but it tapped the 50 day EMA (85.28) on the low and rebounded to recoup some of the losses. In doing so it has fully filled the early May gap higher on its strong earnings and split announcement. Volume remained above average Thursday as it made the test. Looking for some more solid trade as GRMN rebounds from this test.
Volume: 1.293M Avg Volume: 1.241M
BUY POINT: $88.05 Volume=1.4M Target=$101.35 Stop=$85.00
POSITION: gqr jq - Oct. $85c (58 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 05/18/2006
ITW (Illinois Took Works--$99.28; -0.96; optionable): Diversified machinery. Splits 2:1 on 5-26-06
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/i/itw.html
After Hours: $98.63
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. ITW broke out from a 16 month base in early March, surging higher on through early May. It set up another short 5 week consolidation on the way and then broke higher. During the market selling it pulled back as well, but it held the 50 day EMA (99.14) the past two sessions, sitting right on top of that 5 week lateral consolidation. Nice hammer doji Thursday at that support is setting up the next run.
Volume: 1.206M Avg Volume: 1.393M
BUY POINT: $100.05 Volume=1.5M Target=$115.00 Stop=$98.75
POSITION: ITW IT - Sept. $100c (55 delta)

New Post-Split Plays:
Play Date: 05/18/2006
AMX (America Movil--$36.16; -0.24; optionable): Wireless telecom services in Latin America
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/a/amx.html
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. AMX is setting up another buy point with this nice test. It broke out from a 15 week flat trading range in late April and rallied to 41.25 on the move. After that run the market selling started and AMX sold back, testing that breakout and run. It has fully tested the move, coming back to the 50 day EMA (36.09) and the top of the base at the same level. Nice pattern that used the 50 day EMA as support as it formed. After this test we are looking for AMX to rebound on volume.
Volume: 4.43M Avg Volume: 3.568M
BUY POINT: $36.88 Volume=5M Target=$44.00 Stop=$35.44
POSITION: AMX HG - Aug. $35c (63 delta) &/or Stock

PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT PLAYS
Current Pre-Announcement Plays:
This is a list of stocks we are looking to announce splits. We are not in all of the potential splits plays but are letting them set up for the next move. In each report we look at the candidates that are in the best patterns ahead of their potential announcements. This focus on leaders in good patterns allows us to make good money even if companies do not announce the split. The key with splits is the pattern.
ANSS: Looking for an announcement with its shareholder meeting that will occur in late May or early June (date not yet set). Setting back up after the dip lower last week.
CWTR: Forecast 5-24-06
DAKT: Looking for a possible announcement with its June 1 board meeting.
DO: Forecast for the 5-22-06 shareholder meeting. Diving through the 50 day EMA
ESI: Researching the date.
FDX: Forecast 6-21-06. Dove through the 50 day EMA. Needs to set back up.
LCAV: Researching split date
LUK: Announced the split Tuesday.
PLCE: No announcement with its earnings on 5-18-06 as it thumped down to the 50 day EMA. Now looking at the shareholder meeting on 6-22-06.
POT: Researching the date
RAVN: Forecast 5-18-06. Did not give us the buy point and with the dive lower Thursday that is not bad.
SHFL: Forecast in June.
SNDK: Researching the date
TSCO: Forecast mid-July. Needs to set back up
WCN: Forecast 5-25-06
WSM: Researching date. Diving lower. Going to let it set up once more.
NEW PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT PLAYS:
Play Date: 05/18/2006
TRMB (Trimble Navigation--$45.07; +0.19; optionable): GPS, robotic optical surveying instruments, etc. Researching the date.
BACKGROUND: TRMB announced its only split, 3:2, on 2-3-04 at $38.20.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/t/trmb.html
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. TRMB surged higher in April on strong earnings, breaking from a 9 month cup with handle base. It moved laterally after that breakout in the market weakness, and finally came back to test the move this past week, falling to the 50 day EMA (44.94). That stopped it cold and TRMB showed a nice hammer doji at that level Thursday. A good full test of the breakout, and we are looking to move in as TRMB makes its rebound to continue the breakout run.
Volume: 372.915K Avg Volume: 308.623K
BUY POINT: $46.55 Volume=400K Target=$55.75 Stop=$44.72

CONTINUING PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT PLAYS:
Play Date: 05/06/2006
LCAV (LCA-Vision--$55.03; -0.57; optionable): Laser vision centers. Announced earnings 4-25-06. Researching split date.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 3:2 split on 11-17-04 at $32.20.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/l/lcav.html
STATUS: Test breakout. LCAV continues to move laterally over the 18 day EMA (54.96) on low, below average volume. Nice test forming the new handle to the base. Just about ready to go. To recap: LCAV gapped higher three weeks back on very strong volume, rallying on strong earnings results. That move took it out of an 11 week cup base in one quick move. It has spent the past two weeks testing, a lateral move with a slight fade on low, below average volume. Even in the market selling volume remained under control. Positive accumulation in the base shows net buying as LCAV sets up for a new all-time high with a continuation of its breakout move.
Volume: 361.725K Avg Volume: 748.076K

Play Date: 05/17/2006
LRCX (Lam Research--$46.64; -0.81; optionable): Chip equipment
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/l/lrcx.html
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. Tried to make a move Thursday but lower volume and it ran out of gas. Still holding near the 50 day (46.88), setting up the next move higher. To recap: LRCX rallied to start May with a nice high volume break higher, moving out of a 13 week cup with handle base that formed over the 50 day EMA. It got caught in the selling, but most of the downside was on light to below average volume, and unlike many stocks, the pullback did not wreck its pattern. Volume was up Tuesday as LRCX showed a nice hammer doji at the 50 day. Want to see continued rising volume as LRCX moves through the buy point.
Volume: 2.155M Avg Volume: 3.133M
BUY POINT: $48.57 Volume=4M Target=$58.65 Stop=$46.55
POSITION: LMQ IJ - Sept. $50c (51 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 05/11/2006
WCN (Waste Connections--$39.47; -0.48; optionable): Waste management. Forecast 5-25-06 at 10:00PT with its annual shareholder meeting.
BACKGROUND: Last announced a 3:2 split on 5-26-04 at $41.80.
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/w/wcn.html
STATUS: Double bottom w/handle. Still holding up in its handle though it faded back some Thursday on rising, above average volume. Very nice pattern; just being patient. To recap: Short but nice pattern over the 50 day EMA is consolidating the breakout move form a big 9 month base in March. Forming the handle to the base, coming back to tap the 18 day EMA on the low and rebounding to cut the losses. Money flow is running higher ahead of price. Just want to see the volume run higher as WCN moves to a new all-time high.
Volume: 618.2K Avg Volume: 503.145K
BUY POINT: $40.22 Volume=600K Target=$46.95 Stop=$39.00

CONTINUING PRE-SPLIT PLAYS
Play Date: 05/16/2006
OII (Oceaneering Intl.--$69.39; +0.93; optionable): Oil & gas drilling. Splits 2:1 on 6-19-06
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/o/oii.html
STATUS: Breakout test. Volume surged Thursday on a good earnings report, but OII gave back much of the move after the gap higher and a run to 72 on the high. Very strong given all of the selling in the energy stocks. It held the 10 day EMA (69.25) on the close. Still looking for OII to continue the move higher. To recap: Big gap higher in early May as OII blasted out of a 13 week base on tremendous volume. The move took OII to a new high but the selling did not leave it untouched. It also did not break it down. Instead, OII sold back, closing much of the gap up as it tapped the 18 day EMA (67.51) on the lows this week, bouncing back to close. Nice test, holding the breakout unlike many stocks. Looking for continued solid trade as it moves through the buy point.
Volume: 1.193M Avg Volume: 377.705K
BUY POINT: $70.55 Volume=600K Target=$82.00 Stop=$67.00
POSITION: OII JN - Oct. $70c (57 delta) or OII GN - July $70c (53 delta) &/or Stock

Play Date: 05/15/2006
SHOO (Steven Madden--$51.00; +0.74; optionable): Footwear. Splits 3:2 on 5-26-06
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/s/shoo.html
STATUS: Test 18 day EMA. Made a run at the next leg higher, but no volume Thursday and it faded back, closing just below the 10 day EMA (51.31). Very nice and looks ready to make the next move in its breakout run. To recap: Big gap higher in April on raised guidance and then more on the early May earnings. It has since tested, coming back on lower volume to the 18 day EMA this week on the lows then bouncing back on stronger volume. Looks good on the test, setting up for the pre-split run.
Volume: 164.463K Avg Volume: 226.003K
BUY POINT: $51.88 Volume=332K Target=$62.00 Stop=$49.87
POSITION: SEU IJ - Sept. $50c (60 delta) &/or Stock

CONTINUING POST-SPLIT PLAYS
Play Date: 05/13/2006
PPDI (Pharmaceutical Product Dev.--$35.96; +0.58; optionable): Medial labs
http://biz.yahoo.com/p/p/ppdi.html
STATUS: Test 50 day EMA. After the solid move higher last week on strong trade, PPDI pulled back in the market selling. It was not sharp selling, it was just a low volume test of the 50 day EMA (35.03). It tapped that level on the low and bounced positive to the close. Looks ready after this next test. To recap: PPDI spent the past 4 weeks easing back on lower volume to fill the gap higher from mid-April on strong earnings. It held near the 50 day EMA and the lateral range from February and March. On Thursday and Friday when the market sold PPDI started higher on strong, above average volume. After filling the gap the buyers came right back in. Nice to see the strong upside volume in a weak market. After this second test it is ready.
Volume: 554.422K Avg Volume: 619.618K
BUY POINT: New: 36.75 (orig. $36.22) Volume=924K Target=$42.96 Stop=$34.68
